Years ago I made a several quilts to raffle off to collect money for hospice patients for things insurance didn’t cover. I made little houses but every house had either blue skies, cloudy skies or rainy skies. This is because every patient is somewhere along the journey and the skies change at each part of the journey. We raised over $8,000 for both quilts. I used mostly scraps for the quilts because, hey, our lives are all pieces of scraps depending on what life brings us.
I've seen this many times before. But I just realized a couple of things. If you put in a sashing of green "grass" under the houses, you could eliminate one row. Then each row could be a different season. Winter can be Christmassy. Fall could be Halloweeny. Summer could be made out of patriotic fabrics. And Spring could be flowery. Also with the small leftover triangles, you could make pinwheels and put them on top of the trunks. Or you could make tiny 3-D pinwheels too. Or fussy cut an American flag. Of course the dimensions need to be changed, but Natalie could handle that. The Winter row would look so cute with elves peaking out of the doorways or windows. If you have scraps of these types of fabric, you could really personalize the quilt. I LOVE this quilt. It's definitely on my list.
When I was young we shopped in Penny Lane every Saturday morning when we had finished shopping we would go to a little cafe and have a steak pie a cup of tea and a cake, we lived in Green Lane, Allerton, Liverpool, thank you for reminding me of a lovely memory.
Absolutely darling! Thank you so much, Jenny. Your kindness always reminds me of a favorite quote "How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches your heart."
What a cute idea. Thanks for showing us how easy these different houses really are to make. Nifty trees, too. Blessings to y'all. By the way... why would anyone do a thumbs down on a tutorial? If you can't appreciate the time, effort and expertise, just move on. My Nana always said, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all".
Jenny, you have taught me to think of other options with quilt blocks. My brain is full of possibilities, two color trees, windows in the biggest house and a strip of green at the bottoms of the houses just for starters. . So fun! Thank You!!
I love this quilt! One fun variation would be to make the same little street in each row, but play with the background color and darkness/shade of the blocks to represent daytime, dusk, nighttime, and dawn in the same "neighborhood."
I really love your houses, I have already started a tiny quilt "town" so now I can add in some tall houses and big houses and trees. I've added some people in my doorways too, Love your ideas Jenny, my quilting has improved so much thanks to your tutorials.
Enjoyed your tutorial on your Jenny Lane quilt Jenny. Your neighborhood is so bright and pretty. Thank you for sharing your creativity. I look forward to it each week.
Oh how fun!!! I've been making the tiny houses alongside doing other projects for a break :) Since seeing hers with the characters in the doors & coming across scrubs a friend gave me, have used snowguys, cats & skeletons from a Halloween scrub & even have some Pilgrim cats from a "Thanksgiving" themed scrub!!! I even shared with the ladies at a local quilt shop who have also previously made tiny house quilts. They each said "now we have to make another one using these!"
Very lovely -I like the 10" inch fabric you choose. Maybe you ladies could make a triple play with those houses? I really would love to see Misty's ans Natalke's versions.
Amazing quilt! I can’t wait to get started as these houses will be my “happy” sewing in the evenings. So generous of you to give the cutting instructions with the pattern supply list! I love Block magazine and MSQC.
"In Jenny Lane, there is a quilter showing handicrafts..." 'Of every subbie she's had the pleasure to know....." "And all the quilters that come and go - stop and say hello...."
@@pepavolpe It's actually the Lyrics to Penny Lane from the Beatles, which Jenny mentions is how she came up with the name for the quilt...but done Jenny Lane style! Lol!
Thanking you so much for your tutorials and making quilting so interesting and enjoyable ,I will be having ago for my self as you make it look so easy so at 73 I can't wait to begin , blessings from good old UK x
I luv this. Luv tiny house quilt. I have planed to make a tiny house quilt and a tiny wonky star on one quilt. Now maybe add a tiny wonky star to this one above the tiny 3 houses 😱 mind blown. Luv these blocks
Love love love this! I've made a lot of those mini versions, currently have 5 clothes pinned to a string behind where I sew. And each holiday I switch out the center house w/ a seasonal house which of course has a holiday character peeping thru it's door. Makes me smile every time I walk in the room, and now I can create a 'lil Village! Thanks so much!
This is so cute! I love the idea of the little people peeping out of windows and doors. And I think the idea of a Halloween quilt would be awesome! Imagine finding a little skeleton to peep out or stand beside a tree!
Jenny, due to physical problems, I have had to pause quilting for a period of time, but I want you to know you were an inspiration to my late husband who read each of your books and followed you on TV for over 10 years. He had never even sewed one stitch until you came into his life. He personally designed some quilts and then bought fabric from Missouri Star finishing over 60 quilts before he left life on this earth. I thank you for sharing your talent with us. Carole Dubbert-Shipley
@@caroledubbert1990 What a wonderful husband he must have been to share your passions that way. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you kept one of his quilts as a constant reminder of his love.
Ohmigosh, great timing, was scrapbusting last 2 wkends, made over 100 tiny houses and was debating how to use 'em! I'll whip up some big/tall houses and trees and get multiple quilts from my tiny house stash. Yay!
Utterly charming. Very inspiring. Just shows how quilting patterns don’t have to be followed to the letter, they can be personalised. As usual really well demonstrated. Also good to see how you use absolutely every little bit of layer cake.
Jenny I admire your ability to keep the measurements in your mind so well and just cut with abandon! My brain was screaming overload watching you lol. Beautiful job, thank you as always for sharing your great skills.
JENNY how fun would this quilt be to make with scraps. How do you ever keep coming up with ideas for these fun projects? I need to get busy and make one. You make quilting so fun.
I can't wait to use some Christmas fabrics to make this...and a white-on-white snowflake print for the background!! (The trees are what have sparked my interest in this pattern!!) Perfect for my home here in Northern Michigan!
Brilliant! Now I have some bigger blocks to make add to the smaller tiny houses I have already been making. This will make the quilt process more dynamic and fun. Thanks for this. ☺️
I love this quilt and the name is wonderful. I am going to be humming the song all day. I see you have a new format for the supply list. If you are looking for feedback, you forgot to include the finished size. Also, if there could be more contrast for us visually impaired viewers, that would be awesome. "Jenny Lane is in my stash and in my eyes. A four patch turned, oh my! Jenny Lane!"
This is just what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been wanting to make a quilt with many different building shapes and sizes, but I needed some inspiration. Thanks Jenny! 💜
Look at the Needle Pulling Thread magazine on architecture. Amazing quilts & great instructions. I love making bldgs and streets and places. Have big fun!🙋
Adorable, could be made with a little more contrast with scraps of solids or novelty fabrics. You are amazing knowing all the different sizes of cuts I would be checking each time I cut the fabric. Love the big, small and little houses. Can’t wait to make this Jenny Lane quilt. Make a quilt of all little houses, love it.
I love the little houses. You inspired me to start my own collection from my scrapes with your last “little house” video. Now this quilt is going to be on my list to do. Thank you for all you do for the quilting community.
What a wonderful quilt! Jenny you always make things look so easy to do, yet have a unique design to them. I cannot wait to get going on this and would have never thought to use batiks, but they look great! Thanks for an awesome video once again.
I love this Jenny Lane quilt! It is so cute and there are so many possibilities I can think of. This will definitely get added to my quilt list! Thanks for the great video .
Same! I try to make a little house with scraps from each quilt I make. Eventually i want to have a little house quilt that reminds me of all the memories of quilts past.

I've made 2 tiny house quilts. One was 100 houses for a new baby girl. I called it 100 Doll Houses.
