I assume teachers have seen their fair share of bullying. She's just trying to make sure they kids were laughing with him, not at him. It's better than telling everyone to keep quiet, harder to pull off, but worth it teaching people how to interact instead of just making rules.

My teacher didn't even ask me to present it because it was too "risky?" Anyway it takes balls to something like this that isn't a total cliche. Artists are humanitarians too. The others laugh because it makes them uncomfortable and secretly scared of this kids smarts. :)
I did my Comms101 presentation on Frank Zappa! Prof saw fit to not allow the songs I wanted (this was a few years between the PMRC hearings and when he died).
