    I am a healthy young man but I have cognitive problems due to Neurofibromatios Type 1. I have been keto for about a year now and have seen big improvements to my energy levels and cognitive function.

    you need to look into how a low-carb diet reduces the amount of glutamate produced by the brain and how high fats increase the amount of gaba by increasing cellular permeability of the blood-brain barrier. Once you understand this mechanism, you'll understand why a ketogenic diet can lead to more mental clarity

    Keto cured my Mild Cognitive Impairment that I suffered for almost 5 years after 2 concussions. After 3 years on Keto, I have reversed my MCI and I'm in my early 40's and my mind is sharp as a tack. A lot of people my age are forgetting things and misplacing objects, and I'm as keen as I was when I was a teenager. So KETO WORKS!!!

      @공부연구ASMRvlog yes. Now it's been 4 years. I have no choice because as soon as I tried to switch over to a 'regular' diet with whole grains, starches and fruits, my memory started to slip again and the brain fog and headaches all came back. It was like reliving a nightmare. I have no issues staying on a LCHF way of eating for the rest of my life.

      Absolutely agree! The science is much more straight-forward than mainstream clinicians would have u believe. Ketosis does more than just switch metabolic algorithms; it also has autophagic and epigenetic properties that restores system-wide vitality, including cognitive performance and immunologic vigilance.

    Slightly odd finish to this piece. After nine tenths of the video gives intriguing evidence that a ketogenic diet may well have positive effects on brain health, the speaker concludes that somehow a 'diet rich in diverse fruit and vegetables' is the best bet for such an affect. The first question would be: where is the evidence for that? The second question: why, after clearly demonstrating at least the possibility that a ketogenic diet is effective in this area, does the speaker then just fall back to the tired old high carb model?

    • @spottie0ttie207
      @spottie0ttie207 Рік тому +1

      @@lolroflomginternet if you're just eating fish and veggies, you may not be getting enough fat. If you're far protein ratio is off, you may not be producing enough ketones to help with brain fog. I'm no expert, so please do your own research. I had extreme brain fog and felt better when leaving out all veggies and eating high fat/moderate protein. Since you don't tolerate diary, you'll have to experiment with animal fats. I personally eat ground beef everyday 75% lean 25% fat. Another thing you could explore is histamine intolerance. If you have HI you may experience brain fog from eating foods with high histamine. For example the sausages you mentioned. Anything smoked will be very high in histamine. Certain vegetables etc. I could go on, but those are the main things that came to mind. I hope you feel better soon!

      @@lolroflomginternet yes it sucks not being able to eat like everyone else. My theory is that other people are just as unwell as we are, they just don't show obvious symptoms that we can see. Give it a month and just see how you feel, you may be able to work fermented foods back into your diet. I'm able to eat bacon and ground beef without a problem now. I used to react harshly to it. "an intense and widely shared enthusiasm for something, especially one that is short-lived; a craze." That's one definition of fad. So if you throw out the negative connotation (short-lived, craze) then yeah keto is a fad. There's some good and bad information about this diet, it apperently really helps people with mental clarity and especially hunger issues and sugar addiction (these are annecdotes but honestly if you try to connect it with the science it does match) so i'd say it's worth experimenting with. Although a "keto" diet i'd say is just keeping carbs low so approx 50g your fats and proteins don't matter much since if you're doing 2mad you'll still be in ketosis. Also at the end you can see her bias is very clear since she rounds it up with imidiatly calling it a "fad" (she's saiyng it like it harms you or something lmao) and then goes on to say that a diet high in veggies, fatty fish and low in saturated fat helps you with mental clarity wich is very different from a keto diet and that's just bs. Maybe it's different from many people's way of implementing a keto diet but on a keto diet you can still avoid saturated fat by not using coconut oil, palm oil and butter/ghee and opting for lean meats and olive oil instead, and keto diets are usally high in veggies anyway so honestly you can do both.

  • @ketoprimer856
    @ketoprimer856 3 роки тому +1

    Butter has short-chained fatty acids. MCT oil is not the only keto oil. Coconut oil, pure avocado oils, olive oils, and all animal fats are keto fats/oils. MCT can be used by non-keto people in any quantity they can digest. The other oils would be minimized for the non-keto people.
    Keto is already used for those with dementia or Alzheimers. But you can do exogenous ketones if the individual does not believe the diet would help.

    That is what bad science tastes like, read "The Big Fat Surprise: Why Butter, Meat and Cheese Belong in a Healthy Diet'
    Book by Nina Teicholz, which came out in 2014. That book will change your perspective on the history of nutritional science, makesone wonder how man people died needlessly from bad advise give with the best intentions because theythought that the science had been done. It's a shame your video had me excited until the end of this with your horribly unscientific blanket recommendations to the audience.
