Rock that front hip back and straighten it up with your feet. Might look into a different draw length....

Yeah gotta fix the hip and back posture. I had the draw length resized to be my length. Issue I had been shooting a shorter draw length for so long, I have to relearn my stance.

I have the Mathews Phase 4 33, and I love it. If I may offer a few suggestions that helped me A LOT and may help you, it is to play with your draw length. I did the wingspan measurements, the inside of my palm to the corner of my mouth measurement, and everything in between to figure out my starting point. I then took those numbers, bought three different draw length mods, and shot with each until I found one that gave me the best form look. I got a 28 1/2, 29, and 29 1/2. My form and pin movement was the best at 29. Now I'm shooting like never before. It seems you might need a longer draw length due to the position of your elbow. Give it a try and see!

If you rest your finger on the trigger and imagine pulling your hand through the strap you will get good breaks and surprise shots. the way you tell if you get a surprise shot is if your trigger arm moves back and your bow arm drops to the left. When you first start geetting surprise shots your groups will be bad but after about 400 shots your pin will stay in the middle and you will be consistantly better.

    That bow hold extremely well

Looks like your punching the trigger. Wrap your index finger around the trigger and let it rest on the trigger. Then imagine theres a string pulling your elbow back moving your entire arm.

Sweet. Got a new bow. It’s a never ending journey and there’s the challenge. There’s a channel called “ bow only outdoors “ that has some learning videos on setting up and using a trigger release that will give you a repeatable shot execution. I guarantee if you commit to using his technique you will gain way more control and consistency in your shot execution. GOOD LUCK Mr. 👍👍

@@Southernfoldwell, what do you think about using his trigger release setup video? Have you tried it?

That shots pulling further left could possibly be from face pressure against the string. That was a problem I had when I used a kisser. I always dug it deep into my lip and it was moving my string. So when it fired the string would correct itself and send my arrow to the left.

I don't have a kisser on the Matthews Lift but I do on the Matthews Z7... gonna check that! Thanks!

Love the channel mate. Fan from Australia.
Have u shot many other than a Matthews ? What weight arrows u flinging? What weight do I normally shoot at?

    • @Southernfold
      @Southernfold  4 місяці тому

Right on!!!! That's awesome! I haven't gotten to the point of weighing my arrows but I do shoot 3 different arrows weights and cuts and there is a noticeable flight difference.

If you brought your draw weight up from 65 to 70, I wonder if that hip shifted stance is just you psyching yourself up for that bigger pull? Like trying to get more body into it, your draw seems the right length just likely gotta get used to the weight and shift that hip back to square. I pulled a Lift 29.5 back at a shop and it was not fun (pretty stiff), so it makes sense that it would take some getting used to.

That is definitely part of it. I am still getting use to heavier draw. Dosent feel as clean as when I draw my Z7... I definitely need to get more comfortable with it.

I think the draw is a bit long. Even if it was heavier to draw once you hit the holding weight you shouldn’t be pushing that hip out. You’ll notice problems once you start shooting angles. Keep hitting those longer shots! They make the close ones feel easy. Keep up the good work

At 8:13 body is forming an "S"...65 yards, arrow angle is still on a downslope (odd maybe a big downhill range/shot), front arm and shoulder is smashed in while back elbow skill pointing at jesus. Your rear forearm should be parallel to the arrow. Head is reaching into anchor, string and peep. Width and draw length is your friend bud stretch it on out if you can. I think your draw length is jacked because your grip hand is parallel to the bow, grip hand should be 45* with the bow grip inside of the lifeline. Turn that hand out, push your palm out and the bow away from you, shoulders down, wide, and level. Form a T with your body and turn your head to face the target and draw the string back to you. Dont crunch up to make your body fit your bow. You have another 1-2 inches of draw length in you.

You shoot fairly well, but your form is terrible. Your bow arm is way low and you release arm is way high. If you are actually shooting downhill, then you should maintain proper form and bend at the waist.

No worries! I encourage the feedback, I didn't realize how back it was till watching this back. Something I am working to correct. Too far back over my hips, need to be more upright. All part of the journey, cheers!
