    Always good to see when someone goes over their bike,
    Video's of owners going over their bikes every now and then will be good and also what they carry. 👍

    great video, thanks Greg. just picked up a tenere, been busy setting it up to go away on. Love to see you guys do more tenere technical and ride videos, there doesnt seem to be a lot of good quality stuff out there (apart from your high country test series, also great)
    looking forward to doing a trip with you guys in the near future.

    While I would buy an XT660, I don't know how popular this motorcycle would be in the US. That's a shame because it seems like a machine that is as fun as it is capable. It seems that the XT660 also has something many Japanese bikes lack: Spark, excitement, that 'X-Factor, which makes it interesting.

      For the big trail bike community, this is one of the best selling bike in Brazil. It is cheaper than the BMW GS and Brazilian riders are used to Yamaha XT family, just like the Teneres from 80s... maybe this is the reason why some many Brazilians riders are here to watch this video. ..

    Good Hints! as i have the same motorcycle since 5 year and made a lot of "adventures" can i share with you some other good things to do? (you can find a lot of video on my channel if you want)
    You can slip off down the Forks from the Clamps about 5mm, this is good for the balance of the bike cause when is standard is really set up on the front. Another Advice is to change the rear shock spring with one softer, like the purple hyperpro. The best is also to change the rear wheel to 18'' in order have the possibility to put some enduro specialistic tyres. With these changes the Ténéré is ready to go everywhere.. Good video BTW, i've made the same protection of the cooling Hose with an used air chamber insted of a Grip :) cheers to all

    Thinking to get the xt660z after I crashed my 990 adventure. :( Seems like a pocket friendlier option maintenance, fuel consumption and reliability-wise. Big compromise in power though.

    • @ShneorCheshin
      @ShneorCheshin 9 років тому +1

      Hey there!
      Had the XT660Z for 3 years, and now on a 990 ADV for the last 18 months+-
      Dont go there...
      The Yamaha is nice, but comparing the KTM, emmmm...
      I would wait for the new Honda Africa that should be coming soon.
      In addition, KTM are preparing some kind of a mid size twin engine machine that is compared to the BMW GS800.
      Good Luck~!

    • @indokobak
      @indokobak 9 років тому

      I'm really looking forward to the new Honda! Saw it couple of months ago on a bike show. Looks pretty amazing, however I need something til then. Not to mention it will be a brand new bike, so I would rather wait a year or two to allow it to grow out its weaknesses.
      I guess I'll test ride a Tenere and see it for myself. Thx for your advice and enjoy riding your KTM!

    I went to look at one of these yesterday and i really want one... But I had to climb it to get on.. I'm not small.. I'm average height.. About 5.10 is there any way of lowering it slightly? As I can plant toes on the floor on it, but I need more of a stable footing, also how does the bike handle with bags and pillion?

    Why do people cry so much about the height of the Tenere? I have never ridden one before but the seat height is 8cm lower than my ktm 350, and I have no problems riding my ktm and I am only 170cm tall, so I am sure it would be no problem at all riding the low tenere

      +Breno Are my friend ADV riders are thinking about weight, lots of it; tents, extra fuel, camping gear. When you wobble with that amount of crap on your bike you want to be able to put your foot firmly on the ground.

    how much money this guys spend on aftermarket parts??? more then the bike cost it self? wow...
    I got two options for 2nd hand bikes, one 2012 XT660Z (Tenere) model for 5000 euros and the next one is the XT660X witch is 2005 model and it cost 3500 euros....
    I know that I like the 2012 XT660Z model more but can you tell me is it worth the extra money (its the same engine with 35kw power)p.s. the 2005 XT660X is supermoto :p

      Sir Fedswith, you're correct. Dam it, now we're going to have to do it all again! There was a few stuff ups with this interview. Notice the sound at the beginning. I guess we'll have to take the Tenere's out in the bush and test that shock out.

      +MultiBadBass I built one up for Greg a few years ago, before we got into developing the stock shock. Greg now swaps his Ohlins from bike to bike. I'sd like to get it off him as it's pretty tired and doesn't work very well any more but he's a hard man to catch.
