I seen em on this tour. Comments from friends still irk me when they say "I liked Load". You can like whatever you want but you just dont get Metallica unless seeing them on the Damage Inc tour. And this is from a musician's point of view.....and trying to convey your band to do innovative music.
@@offtherealm5438 you gotta keep in mind that not everyone was old enough or even born to have been able to see Metallica live in this era. I had just turned nine when this concert took place, plus I live in Australia 🇦🇺 and Metallica never even set foot in the Southern Hemisphere before 1989.
@russkate88 I meant musician friends that were my own age. Load had good songs. But that can't compare to me and my Army buddies being blown out of the fucking water on the MoP tour! And in a tiny concert hall at that. Life changing event for me....just trying to share my passion bro.
I love shows like this, just the band, stage and lights. Today I think your money goes towards the "show" and it takes away from the music. Years ago there were no phones or distractions just music. I miss those days....😢
I saw them in April of '86 in Rochester NY opening for Ozzy, when Cliff was still in the band. They were fast and awesome...Then I saw them in Dec '86 in Toronto and I thought someone slipped me some drugs, because it was like they were playing so much faster...Like a 33 rpm record turned up to 45 rpm lol...
When you play like this for a while, it'll genuinely give you exactly that. But cmon, you've got one thing coming if you think their not on high quality cocain. 86' was their hay day for partying
@mrchallenges1news I think I've probably played creeping death, down picking to completion with no hesitation once. And only once. Other than that, I'll find myself alternate picking here and there to stop myself from straining. Once you begin to feel the strain in your hand, you're screwed. Gotta be relaxed as possible. But hey, even James throws in the odd alternate picking in certain phrases to compete with straining
@thequebee_0101 Are you kidding me? If you genuinely believe that it was only lars and kirk that was smashing cocain, you've got another thing coming 🤣

No, Kirk is down picking as well, he just has a smaller range of motion when he does it. Part of that is how they differ in holding their guitar picks. James will always be regarded as one of the best (THE best?) when it comes to down picking, but Kirk has been right there matching him note for note. Less precise, but still right there
That time when Ulrich could still play the drums, and Hammett was already making mistakes on the guitar. In general, they keep the pace cool, one and a half times faster. On bass so already Newsted.
Everyone thinks they were on blow at this time but the lyrics in this song are literally mocking cocaine and heroin users. I’m sure he’s done some blow in his day but not likely at this time
Yet another total fuckup by Lars while the entire band struggles to keep up with him and still sound at least like a bad copy of the song. Sad thing is all these years later he’s still awful
After watching the first 15 seconds, I looked over at my guitar, and it just looked back at me, rolled its eyes, and said "Keep dreaming, buddy."
People always say Seattle 89 but Toronto 86 is just on another level
LMFAO no doubt
I’ve played this song a million times on guitar. Try to play along to this version and it’s like I’ve never held a guitar before. Stupid fast 🤘🏻
With practice it becomes zero effort , I can loop entire song for hours at this speed
try it at X2 speed thats fast af
Stockholm '86 is much faster
10 seconds in and my arthritis kicks in hahaha
Have you tried doing a fat line of cocaine first?
Faster of Puppets
this is faster than Seattle 1989 :)
If the 86 shows were pro shot and recorded accurately the show could've been better than Seattle 89' who knws:)
Yes.
Why Master Of Puppets tour video in 1986-1987 was not in pro shot?
@augustinelaseh5078 They either didn't think about doing that kind of shit by then or couldn't afford it
I wish the cameraman filmed james while he was doing his solo. But not many people probably knew that james had a solo in it at the time
FASTER! FASTER!
Yeah, I truly believe that not many people knew it was his solo. I thought it was Kirk until I saw Cliff Em All
This show was First Metallica concert I ever went to. First of many.
I was there too. There's not a bad song on the set. Opener Metal Church was good, too.

I long for the 80's. The best time ever. 🤘
We thought they would last forever...
If people say seattle 89 is fast, they have never watched this
Seattle 89 doesn’t touch this show. They’re are just totally out of control here.
That was fast but this just took it to another level.

Great video. Saw this tour in May of 86’ Chicago
Guitar work is great but the give the vocals some credit too! James sounds awesome here!

They were unknown before One and Enter Sandman (I mean to the masses because releasing MoP in 1986 caused big bang in metal community)
Because Metallica couldn't afford to do stuff like that at the time.
In 1986 they weren't the megaband they are today....
i guess its the first time that i see kirk playing the same solo as in the album
Это великая супер группа❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
RIP Cliff
Already with Jason.
I SAW THEM ON THAT TOUR,,,MCALLEN, TX,, RAN INTO THEM AS THEY WERE GETTING OF THE BUS,, INCREDIBLE MEMORIES,
Great show Metal Church opened for them........
Great post! Thanx a bunch.
How tf does he downpick that lol
Practice
lmao ahhahahaha😂😂😂😂
Holding pick with two fingers (index and middle) and thumb.
He's not he goes up and down it's a myth that he goes just down its bullshit some slower songs maybe but not this one humanly impossible
@ManaBlack208 you can literally see it in the video that he's downpicking lol
One of my favorite opening riffs from Metallica 😊😊😊😊
How they did a full concert this fast is beyond me I cant even play it for a minute 😢
Practice, practice, practice, and massive amounts of grief and alcohol.
When Metallica was Metallica
Its so funny hearing him before he developed that "YEAH" we all know. 2:20 you could hear a something where it would go today

Oh yeah five times black was last trip with guns n posers .. they stopped drinking during black album never same

The real Metallica.

True Metallica.
insane speed
I saw this same tour in Denver when they opened for Ozzy and they absolutely destroyed his show. Nobody could follow Metallica in the 80’s.
Jason newsted is here
The beginning of Jason after the death of Cliff Burton. Then, in 1987 they will record the first album with him "Garage days"
They replaced Cliff pretty quickly since he died Sept of '86
James is playing down picking and Kirk alternate? Can someone help me figure this out?
James is a lot better at it and kirk can't keep up quite as well

Ooooh, those sweet smelly times! (Playing much faster as it is -15°C outside just to warm up themselves.)
Jaymz guitar is struggling to keep up with the downpicking..... he's 3 bars ahead
So faster that kirk's fender becomes a jackson flying v
At about the 3:05 mark you can see Kirk motion to his tech on the side of the stage.
That's like 300bpm 😀 What the fuck are they on ?! Golden 80'...
I believe drugs in 80's surely a top tier quality. Today drugs make people just like zombie.
@bangrojai4868 alcohol, grief and jason (maybe a lil blow too)
Cliff had just died a few weeks before this. They played incredibly fast and aggressive in the year after his death
Insane stuff 🤘
How awesome they were
So fast they knocked a minute off the recorded time
Is that Jason already in the bass position??? Cliff already gone at this point?
Yep.Cliff died in sept/86….this was dec 6/86
Sheeww.... They are BARELY hanging on, but they pull it off.. The tempo is about 12,000bpm.😂
