    Everyone resolved their past.
    Jet finally got closure from his past relationship with his ex girlfriend and found the truth behind losing his arm and finding out his ex partner was the cause of it. Him destroying the watch (held symbolism because it’s time stopped) he kept from his ex was proof that life must move forward.
    Ed’s past was that her father abandoned her and was left at an orphanage. Even when she reunited with him she was deserted again but it didn’t seem to faze her. She’s doesn’t allow the past to bind her because she’s joyful, quirky, and radical. We don’t know what the future is in store for her (she’s not returning to her dad) but wherever her and Ein go, we know she’ll be ok because she’s free in every sense of the word.
    Faye finds out about her past which she was too caught up wanting to figure it out and in the end “nothing good came out of it”. She didn’t realize she could form a future and even though she made several attempts in leaving the crew throughout the series she already cemented a place in the Bebop. She made family, a possibility of life. In the end she is aware of this but loses Spike, Ed and Ein, but if there’s anything life taught her, she must move on and continue.
    As for Spike, he tried to run away from his past only for it to catch up with him. It was inescapable so he confronted it and in the end he woke up from his figurative dream. As the ending lyrics state, he is free.

      @@gustavhls5739 so Spike lost one of his eyes in an accident and thats where the fake one comes from. As for dreaming? I think it might have to do with Spike getting so close to death throughout the show
      But he always came back
      He never died until the last episode when he "woke up"
      The dream he was having was of the Bebop and the faces on it
      The dream he was having was of him and Julia together
      But dreams don't last unfortunately
      Dreams aren't reality
      And Spike had to face his past. He couldn't just let it go. It was time for his dream to end.
      Thats the way I see it, I hope it makes sense.

      @@richardsmith6957Vicious finally begins his coup, positioning himself to assume leadership of the Red Dragon Syndicate. Gunshots ring like the sound of a choir of angels, a premonition of damnation. Knowing that the Red Dragon's civil war has begun, *Julia breaks her long silence and tries to contact Spike, who drops everything to find her, the only woman who could complete this hollow man.* At the fulcrum of a fragile balance, Spike is possessed by the spirits of his past. Jet and Faye can do nothing but watch over him.
      -Cowboy Bebop Guide, Book 6, Page 28
      After a long time apart, Spike and Julia reunite. But their happiness is short-lived at best. That which Spike has longed for slips through his fingers as easily as it came into his embrace. This is one man's fate, converging unto death as it were a predestined circumstance of his young life. Having lost his future, Spike is left only with his past. He confronts Vicious in a battle that should have taken place long ago. *What does that right eye, left in a wounded body, see at the very end?*
      -Cowboy Bebop Guide, Book 6, Page 44
      The right eye which sees Spike’s present sees Julia at the end, as was foreshadowed to happen in Jupiter Jazz Part 2.

    You weren't alone man, this anime definitely leaves an emptiness after you've finished it. All the heartache and anguish everyone on the bebop went through their entire lives culminates here especially for Spike. Can't help but feel sad at the end of this. You're gonna carry that weight. Bang.

    This show goes out quite literally with a bang. Bebop is a rare gem of a show, anime or otherwise. The quality is incredible, especially for its time, and it's a show that will never, ever grow old. It's twenty years old this year, but the show can compete with anything that comes out nowadays and beat it without a problem. It's a masterpiece, the peak of what can be achieved when a team of extremely talented people fronted by an absolute genius is put together. From the writing, to the cinematography and to the absolutely outstanding music provided by Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts, Cowboy Bebop is without a question something that one must see before they die. And it's also the most re-watchable shows, you can watch it over and over and over again and never tire of it because you always have new things to see in it even if you've seen each and every episode at least a couple of times.
    Thank you, Amani, for this journey! It's been a blast seeing you react to this!

    Watanabe, the creator, has said that he wanted the ending to be up to personal interpretation. He left it up to the viewer if they thought Spike died or not. His own opinion about what happened to Spike was that he's "just sleeping."

    • @tiger-stripedcat7199
      @tiger-stripedcat7199 8 місяців тому +1

      Then he started laughing when he said that. The comment about Spike "just sleeping" is yet another hint that Spike died. "Slumber is the sister of death, just like dreams are a foretaste of heaven..." was a tagline for the movie. 🤦‍♀

From serious figures to the absolute goofballs. Every one has a story to tell and you can relate to their struggles. I really hope you enjoyed the wild ride man.

    • @captainnerd6452
      @captainnerd6452 5 років тому +18

      There’s a common trope in anime that if someone dies, a bird is seen flying away, which happens when Julia is shot, and even in movies they’ve started doing it, in the scene in Blade Runner where Roy Batty dies, he’s holding a pigeon he picked up, and when he is finally gone he lets go and the pigeon flys away. So, with the birds and the star at the end, I think it’s pretty clear that the story is over. But it ends so well, it’s satisfying in a way that’s hard to describe.

    • @richardsmith6957
      @richardsmith6957 4 роки тому +4

      I believe by the point Viciouss star already went out, when Spike confronted Vicious it was night time but when we see Spikes aftermath of the battle it's daytime/probably morning
      That was Spikes star that went out, he's gone unfortunately but he died with a smile on his face, meaning that death took him peacefully and not violently.
      Spike may be gone but he'll always be in our hearts.

    Spikes eye was blurry because he was using his fake one and it was focusing (yes, it can see. Albeit, only the past if you ask Spike). It gets me because when Vicious finally does come into focus, it's representative of Spike's past coming into focus as well.
    I won't touch on the dead or alive topic. It tends to get people worked up when you're team dead. XD

      and while this is an open ending, i agree with you. i mean hero going out with a bang is good ending. bittersweet but good. also let's not forget it's japanese animation. i rarely see happy endings in anime. that's why it cause such cognitive dissonance for western people who mostly grew up on hollywood movies and dysnay animation with mandatory happy ending

    Spike was dead all along. With this ending he found his way out of Purgatory and went to Heaven. Don't be sad.

    If you hear when the song starts, one word can be mistaken for messiah, it's just mix language. 🤗🤗🤗🤗

    PS: That song was NOT The Real Folk Blues. That was a different song, with different lyrics, appropriately named “See You Space Cowboy.”

    The song "Blue" during the ending credits is gonna be played at my funeral. This series is amazing and even the movie is good. To lighten the mood Jet and fey bash into the building with their ship and get Spike out of there. Yeah, a much better ending.

    The feels are real with this anime. This anime was the beginning of the anime community especially here in the USA. Their were others but this one hit home with everyone. I recommend Kill la kill next.
