I remember this movie almost getting an Oscar nomination the year it came to the us. But it was disqualified from that due to the movie in it's original Japanese version coming out in an earlier year.
Some of the Mars citizens you saw in the opening. Like the black guy and the white guy doing faux martial arts were the English VA's animated. The animator's and the creator of the show absolutely loved the English VA's performances so they put them in the opening as an easter egg.
I can't say enough about how the animation in this film is superb. The series had good animation but this is a whole new level. It's gotta be one of the best, along with Ghibli films, traditional animated films I've seen, well mostly traditional cuz it does look like some CG was used.
And the saga is now complete for you guys. Hope you loved it as much as me. *Long live Bebop!* So when is Samurai Champloo... and Claymore... and Elfen Lied... and Berserk... and Neon Genesis Evangelion... and Serial Experiments Lain... and Princess Mononoke??? I still think its funny and kind of cool that the voice actor for Vincent is Daran Norris who voiced Andy the cowboy but hes more well known for voicing Cosmo and Timmy Turner's dad in "Fairly Odd Parents"
In case you were wondering, im pretty sure that when Calvin said "im sure the fighting is based off something" I believe spike was shown to be fighting like Bruce Lee, especially how he moved at the start of the final fight.

Like outlaw star, it had some outstanding high points, but large portions of it can be a slog to get through on the rewatch. Big O is weird/unique enough that it's worth watching even with its flaws, and ergo proxy is just gorgeous. Can't say much about those other titles. It's been a long time, but I only remember diving two episodes deep into DTB.

It is about a lost teen who finds himself through rock music. From Beatles and Stones to Rage Against the Machine and Nirvana. Better soundtrack than Bebop! And either the Sub or Dub are good, the Sub has the original with some better interactions, the Dub has a smoother English Rock Sound, since most songs are in english anyway I suggest it. Just know Maho isn't supposed to cuss this much.

The last minute or so of "Gotta Knock a Little Harder" with him grabbing the butterfly gives me the strongest chills

I will be honest. I though the big bad of this story was Spike from the future, than I remember that he doesn't have a future.
That one old guy's voice wasn't Ed Asner, it was Mike Reynolds. You'd probably most recognize his voice as being Gennai from Digimon Adventure.
