Glenn, I know you were once on a mission to collect the first 100 Tamiya buggies and had a collection of envy but had to part for your reasons which I had a similar story but mine was collecting the iconic buggies from 1983-1989 and what I had lost I have finally got back which most of them I was able to retrieve the ones I actually sold in my 20’s and regretted it and won’t do that again lol so my question is all these builds and restros that you feature are these yours that you are slowly regaining what you’ve lost or you build for subscribers and you return? I hope it would like to see you capture back some of what you’ve lost. Thanks for making my boring days off not so boring
Glenn that Egress has come out beautiful. I know I'm 3 years late but that's not so important. I have an Egress Black edition I brought last year and haven't built yet. I would love to but then again I don't want to disturb the packaging , maybe I should have brought 2 . I also only 2 weeks ago got an Avante black edition still new in box . I gotta build one of them or look to by a second of one and build that. Dilemmas dilemmas👌🤣 I'm not greedy it's our hobby. It's just my family don't understand this hobby and my fondness for Tamiya RC cars. Love your work Glenn you are a master craftsman.
Would love to get my hands on one of these, thanks for the videos, I’m 45 and vintage Tania RC never gets old, cheers to all the men who grew up in the 80’s!
Very cool that nowadays, cars have carbon fiber chassis. When I was a kid, graphite was the way to go. Once, a schoolmate took home one of the school lunch trays (they were fiberglass) and he used that to cut a new chassis for his Traxxas car that had a broken chassis.
This car was released just after my RC days. I never gave it a second look until I watched this video. Wow, what a thing! I fell in love until I seen what they’re selling for on eBay. 😞 What a design, what a car. 👍
For me, this is the pinicle in Tamiya. People argue that the Avante is, but for me its the Egress. This is only one of 2 cars that i will buy, build & keep as an ornament. I have the other in the Super Astute... Top video mate....keep them coming 😎👌 4 weeks ago you were slowing down with the vids.....dont think ive seen you churn out the content so much, loving it 👍👍
I like to see you also enjoyed the build of the Egress. I'm curious of you driving experience. I love it. You can't have enough Egress. Top building video Glenn👍
Man does that sound smoooooooooth!!! Awesome detailed build! Great explanations! Saturday morning cartoons for me! Thanks Glenn, keep 'em coming! 10 out of 10!
What a Kit! To hell with all them bashing Brands! This is how car's have to be build. Technic like art! Build to consume 1150 mAh in exactly 4 min. And so nice! Great Video
This beast is an absolute work of art! Seeing you work thru every step brings back fond memories of the good old Tamiya days where everyone knows the Egress and the Avante Black Special. I had the mini 4WD Vanquish back then. ( : Thanks for this great video!
My parents spoiled me with the original Avante. The suspension arms broke and there was really no long-term solution. Then later Tamiya released the Egress, which fixed the problems of the Avante. I might have been better off if I had waited.
I'm 46 now but oh how I wish I could buy this for my 14 year old self back in 1986. I would have LOVED it. I need to go back in time and take my money with me.
I bought the Avante 2001 body set and I just ordered the Egress Black Edition and the Avante 2011 decal sheet. I plan to build an Egress chassis and cover it with the Avante 2001 bodyshell and paint the bodyshell in the paint scheme of the original Avante. I had the classic Avante in 1989 when I was 16.
That's a fine looking kit Glenn, brimming with Tamiya goodness. Giving it some serious consideration myself. I've got the BZ in my Top-Force, it's a great motor, I may have to invest in another one. ATB Darren.
Great build video Glenn, good timing too as I am just on the final step of my Egress 2013 build - decals and spray. Have built mine to spec using same electronics. Its an awesome kit, a real privilege to build. Thanks for sharing.
Awsome car brotha!! Love your your video. Especially the long ones 😉👊 I think i need my first tamiya kit very soon. I've building tekno's and customizing arrma's for a while now but I think its time to explore the roots of rc🧏🏼♂️
Great video Glen.. What a fantastic bit of Tamiya goodness!!!. Since finding you and you’re channel I’m spending a fortune!!. Now I’m thinking another purchase is a possibility. The wife will go mad😂😂😂😂
If it were mine, I'd look for softer and/or shorter springs so that the suspension at ride height still has some droop. I guess if it's just going on the shelf, it will look good as you have it assemble. The important thing is, it's your car so build it the way you like. Great video!!
Really enjoyed this video Glenn. The Egress is my favourite and the best spec re-release Tamiya do... I understand why you lowered your suspension but I would like to go on record and show my disapproval, you can go too far (looks aren’t everything)... I prefer to use thick shock oil on the driveshafts it gets into the joint by capillary action but when running it throws the dirt from the surface, oil can be easily reapplied each running session the grease tends to hold onto the grit and dirt and requires a strip down build to clean and re-grease... I have shimmed the wheel axels with 0.5-0.6 mm shims it removes all the play from the wheels (you need a minimal play so the bearing don’t over heat and produce drag... ‘Thank for the mention Glenn’ I’m using the 10:5 turn brushless I have found the diffs will slip excessively on standard set up, I have found it’s better to just gently tighten it until the diff spring is fully compressed It still allow a slight slip on initial acceleration only, allowing it to behave like a slipper clutch but not so much slip it’s going to burn itself out... the original front shock mounts you are using "requires" those spacer plates you mentioned, they are to stop the torque motion of the bracket from cutting through the plastic lower arms! you could easily make some steel oblongs the dimensions of the hole in the lower arm the same thickness of the brackets fitted (I made some from thin FRP). (You might get away with leaving them out if you’re only car park bashing)... I have to say this obsession with the blue ball link nostalgia is driving me mad! they are rubbish plastic and have too much play if you intend to use your egress you need to stick the much better upgraded dark grey ball links (again looks aren’t everything) Once again it was a pleasure stopping by you are the LEGEND 👍
Thanks Neil, a lot of food for thought there my friend 😊 I think I’ll give it it’s first run as it is now, then work back through all the items you’ve mentioned as I try to make improvements as I go. I have to say the only real thing I’m concerned about is the diffs you mentioned. I really don’t want to burn them out with them slipping too much 😞. As the car stands now I made them slightly tighter than the manual suggested, so I’m really hoping that works, I don’t have a great record with ball diffs 😞 As always I really appreciated your feedback, more so on this car as I know it has a special place in your heart 🤩👊🏻
Yes, my absolute fav Tamiya I built one this last winter and it was so enjoyable. I built with a couple of hop-ups. Also put an RZ motor in it. Love this long video.
Fantastic video Glenn, I too am really enjoying the longer run-time of the Saturday clips. A quick comment about adjusting the ride height: I've found that it's usually best done with all the electrics and the battery installed, since adding those will no doubt lower the car a bit further due to weight. Just dropping my 2 cents. I really must get me one of those Egresses before they become as rare as hen's teeth to find NIB!
What a beauty! Now on my list to build LOL! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build and the running and still shot! This length is ok, I kind of like it for a build video, get to see the whole build (pretty much) Keep up the great work!
God Glenn even the way it's packaged is beautiful !! It's a shame you have to disturb it all !! I completely understand why collectors sometimes like to just keep it all as is from the shop !! Amazing Car, amazing build, top top channel Glenn !! Really mean that my friend !! Wes, Liverpool.
It was a longer than usual video, but you couldn’t have shortened it. Don’t worry, if people switch off, then there weren’t interested in watching in the first place 🤷🏻♂️ I had an Avante when i was a kid, so wish i never sold it 15 years ago 🤦🏻♂️
Is ESC waterproof Glen??? I swear by Axial ESC's!!! There waterproof and bulletproof!! Best ESC's money can buy...IMO.. There not cheap either $50 clam's American dollars. But Worth the $$$. Another great build to buy the way Glen....as always of course👍👍👍👍.. Cheer's Mate.....
@@TAMIYALegends Glen u getta Axial ESC and u put that ESC to the test as I did.. I saw a axial u-tube Vidd of a 4x4 Axial truck with there waterproof Axial ESC in it..and they drove into a frozen iced over pond, and it dropped through the frozen ice and it stayed underwater for several minutes and it was driven underwater from one side of the pond and outta of the water and then it went back through and under the ice again. I can't tell u how Long it was under the frozen ice but it was a hell of a long time Glen.. !!!! I was talking to a guy at my local hobbytown usa about this Vidd and he said yep bulletproof ESC %100 plus they warranty there products to. He also said that what it does in extreme cold Temp's is the same thing it can do in extreme heat conditions to. The ESC can take extreme heat and not skip a beat. And THATS why they run $50-$60 us dollars. But the way I see it is I won't have to Ever worry about buying another ESC.. I just wish Axial made esc's for my RC airplanes. Maybe someday ...Hahaha... Take care Glen.
I can't believe I'm just now seeing how well built this kit is. Damn shame I can't find one cheaper than 550 bucks right now but lord have mercy.. I love this.
Great looking buggy, I'm thinking I need an Egress now lol. That servo does look quick, good choice for it. The steering looks better than the Avante 2011, which I found is very sloppy. Will be great to see it all done with the new body you have coming. 👌. I think your new Saturday video format is fine, lots of info in there, that's the main thing I think. 👍
@@TAMIYALegends I'm glad you found it the same. Thought it was just me, I checked everything over and over. Everything is tight, seems to be a tiny bit of play in each each steering component so adds up to quite a bit of play overall. I thought about upgrading mine but I guess it's not worth it for the little use it will get... I'll just run it in a wide open space so I can't hit anything with the sloppy steering. 😂🤣
Nice car mate one of my favorites, i've got one as a runner myself and it's a seriously good piece of kit. If it wasn't so expensive back in 89 I think it would have been a lot more popular at club level. There was a member of our club that run one back in the day and he was winning A finals with it both indoors and out. Liking the longer format videos! I always thought it was a shame that most of the build footage ends up on the cutting room floor, so to speak! Nice to see more of the action. cheers!
A lot of similarities with the Avante black special with the diffs and one-way setup. Man, I want an Egress! Love the longer Saturday videos Glenn, also the lower ride hight won't be that bad with the larger modern wheels.
Funny you should mention the DB01 Durga in this video, I actually got a second hand durga the other day - but it had a broken suspension arm sadly, and missing a king pin, and king pins for the DB01 are a pain to locate!! I got the durga based on you video of it actually!
Awesome build Glen. Loved the detail and your take on the suspension. Back in 88 I mainly ran my Avante on road and I ran it as low as possible with an 11 double Trinity motor, huge pinion and Novak speed control. Don't need to tell you how quick it was. Length of the video was perfect. I often find the videos a bit too short. I know it's a year ago but keep up the great work. 👍
I really enjoy the longer videos sat down with a cup of tea-all the content is great tho to be fair! 👍🏽 You mentioned at the start Glenn-when are we going to see some updates on the Durga?
Thanks Mate, great video. Time flew watching. Love the Egress can't wait to finally get my own. It is a beast that chassis is awesome. That Avante chassis is truly a thing of beauty but the Egress, the just looks like it was built for purpose. I think I'm going to lower my buggies now similar to you I run most of mine on the tarmac and they look awesome low. Thanks again, looking forward to the next episode.
Hi, i noticed during build it said cement certain parts to the chassis. Do you bother or are the screws good enough to hold without cement? Cheers, got kit in post, can’t wait to get, you got me back into RC Glenn, last time I owned a Tamiya was when the Fox came out in the 80’s, had a hotshot before that. Bought a Hyper 7 pro few yrs ago in good condition but been so long since I was into the scene i feel a bit of a dinosaur. Any tips for my build would be appreciated, Mike from near Derby, cheers 👍🏻love the channel
Love the Saturday long build videos. I’d like to see more of the intricate parts put together too rather than off camera. And the installation of the radio gear. I like the start to finish format. Maybe do some body shells as well?
Well I've just stumbled across this video and found it awesome and really interesting. Your right even without the body it looks beautiful. Great vid thanks for doing it p.s stay safe 🤘 with everything going.
@@TAMIYALegends Hi I'm thinking of getting a tamiya lunchbox as a lot build it will be my first kit build. Do you think it will any good for a first build novice like me.
Great video again👍! I absolutely love my egress! I use the turn buckles of the super clodbuster because they are blue exactly the same as the original egress! ( can't remember what's parts numbers off hand) Saturday videos are fine by me I can relax and watch at my leisure!
I really enjoy your enthusiasm for the Tamiya kits. In this video you mentioned the Super Clod Buster and it's blue ball ends. Is it the same shade of blue as the original Egress ?
Hi Glenn all the way from Yorkshire England I've never run a egrees I have run my cousins does the shocker angle a make a lot of difference love your content keep it coming 👍🏻👍🏻
This is amazingly similar to the vanquish I had. Suspension motor plate and gearboxes look the same except the vanquish had planetary gear diffs on the axles and ball centre diff. Obviously the vanquish didn’t have carbon but all the screws look like they are in the same position. I still have mine I should see if I can get a new rear suspension mount:)
2:12 yeah i could not find any so i had to make some, it looked ridiculous without those bits, it was normal height at the back and without those parts it sat super low at the front, no idea what tamiya was thinking leaving those bits out
I figured in an $800+ kit this would have better looking plastics. I have in the past been really curious how this car was to build. So thanks for sharing this.
@krowe33 that's so wild. The same thing happened with the Kyosho Mid when it came out. They were trading for $1,000!! Now they're $375 and plentiful lol.
TAMIYA Legends your welcome, if it wasn’t for you I would be getting into tamiya stuff, I’ve always loved tamiya, but as youngster that’s all I wanted, but obviously didn’t have the money back in the 80s, thought I would buy myself some buggy’s to play around with and collect, so far I hav a bigwig, top force, but hopping sometime next week I’ll have another 3 buggy’s coming, which are the hornet, grasshopper and a wild one, Can’t wait, I was thinking of my first build of a tamiya buggy will be the grasshopper, I think that’s the easiest one to build. Supper excited about getting this buggy’s next week, also waiting on my Porsche 911 GT1, that won’t be delivered for a while, I lot of delays on shipyard the moment, so thanks Glenn. You inspired me with your builds
Glenn, brilliant video and brilliant detail throughout. Thank you! What a build the Egress is. Only problem is that I have a NIB Egress (2013) I was planning on selling BUT you have managed though this video to convince me to keep it and build it! If only I could get those blue turnbuckle heads..
I've just preordered a 2021 Egress re-re online from a Tamiya dealer; they either know for certain it's going to be announced tomorrow by Tamiya or they are taking a punt....can't wait to find out!
I loved Tamiya boxes as a kid and still do.
Your long videos are just as engaging as your short ones - and that's a good thing.
Excellent thanks for the great comment 😊😊😊
I for one am loving the longer vids. Short mid week vids are good also. Just keep doing what you want. It's all good Glenn.

I lowered my VQS just now using your spacer trick. Looks much better now, thx!
While I am more a Kyosho-guy, this Tamiya car has a nice design too. Thx for showcasing this car so well.
If you only ever buy one Tamiya it should be this. It’s the pinnacle of Tamiya and is buttery smooth to build AND drive!.

Nice kit, it has aged well.
Thanks for watching Mark 😊👊🏻
I can't believe I'm just now seeing how well built this kit is. Damn shame I can't find one cheaper than 550 bucks right now but lord have mercy.. I love this.

Thanks for watching and commenting my friend 🤩👊🏻
Hi Glen, I agree with everyone else the longer videos are great more in depth great build mate 🤘👍
Excellent Martin, thanks for the feedback my friend 😊👊🏻
What a truly amazing piece of kit, my local hobby shop has the black addition in stock and it's so tempting to buy one
I like the video the egress buggy keep it up.
Cool 😎
Thanks for watching 👊🏻
1st Avante
2nd Egress --> my first mini 4wd...😚
3rd Astute
Love a build video but can’t wait to see a running video of it 😎
Me too buddy, right now I have absolutely nothing I can run, in a weeks time I’ll have three rtr, can’t wait 😊🚗💨💨💨
Thanks Mick 🤩
Yeah the steering is chalk and cheese to the Avante set up. I’ve actually ordered the carbon Racing steering for my Avante 🤷🏼♂️
An hour of drooling at the build.....
Your videos are always so detailed, engaging, and simple to understand, short or long. Keep up the amazing work!
Great build video of my all time favourite car. Love the ride hight, might have to do so with one if mine cars too. 👍🏼👍🏼
I lower most of mine tbh, not sure if it makes the handling worse, it’s not really something I’ve noticed. But they look so much better 🤩👊🏻
Awesome car to build, wish i had one 😬. Nice video 👌
Thanks Marco 🤩👊🏻
another great video, cant wait to see you drive this bad boy
Excellent 🤩👊🏻
I’m getting the body done tomorrow so I’ll be out with it soon 😎🚗💨💨💨
Great build video. What lenght spacers did you use in the front shocks? The rear shocks had 12mm spacers in each right?
I think the fronts were around 6mm 👊🏻
Now that i've built my Avante ill need to build one of these next
It’ll be really interesting if you do, it feels like the Avante but much more straight forward if that makes sense lol 😂
Nice to see more of the action. cheers!
Excellent thanks for the great feedback my friend, it’s much appreciated 😎👊🏻
Beautyful build..one of tamiya most bad-ass looking buggy’s..one of its very own kind..looks ace💥✌️
A lot of similarities with the Avante black special with the diffs and one-way setup. Man, I want an Egress! Love the longer Saturday videos Glenn, also the lower ride hight won't be that bad with the larger modern wheels.
Excellent thanks for the feedback my friend 🤩👊🏻
I believe RCMart still has few kits in stock. I've been eyeballing one myself. May have to wait till the insanity here in the US dies down though.
I have 4 Now lmao
Funny you should mention the DB01 Durga in this video, I actually got a second hand durga the other day - but it had a broken suspension arm sadly, and missing a king pin, and king pins for the DB01 are a pain to locate!!
I got the durga based on you video of it actually!
That’s cool you got one 🤩
I’m hoping to get mine finally finished next week and finally get it out 😎🚗💨💨💨
@@TAMIYALegends I can't wait to see it going with that gorgeous body shell.
Thanks Gary 😍👊🏻
I really enjoy the longer videos sat down with a cup of tea-all the content is great tho to be fair! 👍🏽 You mentioned at the start Glenn-when are we going to see some updates on the Durga?
Thanks Greg,
I’ll be getting it finished next week, I have all the parts now 😊. Then I can finally get it on the gravel 😎🚗💨💨
Nice viewing mate👍👍 and nice beautiful build😀
Thanks my friend 😎👊🏻
That carbon looks amazing
Love the Egress, had an original and moved it on to another Legend. Looking forward to my re re build when I get to it!
Aro800
Excellent 🤩
Thanks for watching my friend 👊🏻
great guy and great channel what more is there to say
Thanks Steven much appreciated my friend 😎👊🏻
I’ve just managed to buy one, cost a bomb but this kit got my juices flowing 👍🏻😀
whoo baby, i want one now good job buddy
Thanks man 😎👊🏻
I like the longer videos
Excellent thanks for the feedback buddy 😊👊🏻
I will get an Egress one day!
Cool 😎
Thanks for watching 👊🏻
I hope you've got one now!!
@@laserbeam1620 Not yet. Still need to build my Super Astute!
Thanks Alex and welcome to the channel 🤩👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends Hi I'm thinking of getting a tamiya lunchbox as a lot build it will be my first kit build. Do you think it will any good for a first build novice like me.
Great video again👍! I absolutely love my egress! I use the turn buckles of the super clodbuster because they are blue exactly the same as the original egress! ( can't remember what's parts numbers off hand) Saturday videos are fine by me I can relax and watch at my leisure!
Excellent Phil, thanks for the lovely feedback my friend 🤩👊🏻
Great video, as always. Very well done. Love the car.
Superb car.. Superb video... End of ❤️
Thanks Mark 😎👊🏻
Awesome build just ordered an Avante Black Special, my first real high end buggy. Previously had boomerang, bigwig and super clod buster.
awesome build. Did you do the superglue round the carbon edges? Just wondered if it made a difference.
I’ve never done that on any carbon chassis 😬😬😬
Great video Glenn
I want an Egress so bad now.
Can't believe that shell hasn't arrived yet, nearly a month now. 😡
Thanks Craig 🤩
Yeah it’s always the case when I’m really excited about receiving something it takes forever to arrive lol 😂
@@TAMIYALegends
Yeah I know the feeling. Lol
Very cool great build loving your channel mate 👍🏻
I really enjoy your enthusiasm for the Tamiya kits. In this video you mentioned the Super Clod Buster and it's blue ball ends. Is it the same shade of blue as the original Egress ?
Yes I believe so although I’ve actually never seen them, I’m just going off what I’ve read 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for watching buddy 👊🏻
Longer the better.
Matt McLafferty
Excellent thanks Matt 😎👊🏻
They look so awesome to build brand new loving the vids such great work
Thanks 😊😊😊
Hi Glenn all the way from Yorkshire England I've never run a egrees I have run my cousins does the shocker angle a make a lot of difference love your content keep it coming 👍🏻👍🏻
This is amazingly similar to the vanquish I had. Suspension motor plate and gearboxes look the same except the vanquish had planetary gear diffs on the axles and ball centre diff. Obviously the vanquish didn’t have carbon but all the screws look like they are in the same position.
I still have mine I should see if I can get a new rear suspension mount:)
Great video ! I would love an Egress ... Rumour has it they may re release it in 2021
Such lovely presentation of the parts in the box😍. Shame to unpack it all!! #BNIB
Yeah I know what you mean 😬
Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Was a fun build just built it over weekend. Not doing the black style doing the 2013 addition.
Yes good call with the locking of the center diff just remember the spped run ; p
2:12 yeah i could not find any so i had to make some, it looked ridiculous without those bits, it was normal height at the back and without those parts it sat super low at the front, no idea what tamiya was thinking leaving those bits out
From what I’ve read it’s an upgrade to the original 🤷🏼♂️. Apparently those B8 & 9 parts were prone to breaking 😞
Thanks for watching buddy 👊🏻
I figured in an $800+ kit this would have better looking plastics. I have in the past been really curious how this car was to build. So thanks for sharing this.
$800??
@@laserbeam1620it was when I posted my cimment.
@@laserbeam1620 at that time, yes.
@krowe33 that's so wild. The same thing happened with the Kyosho Mid when it came out. They were trading for $1,000!! Now they're $375 and plentiful lol.
Happens a lot in this hobby.
Awesome build Glenn 👌🤩🤩👌
Thank you 😊😊😊
TAMIYA Legends your welcome, if it wasn’t for you I would be getting into tamiya stuff, I’ve always loved tamiya, but as youngster that’s all I wanted, but obviously didn’t have the money back in the 80s, thought I would buy myself some buggy’s to play around with and collect, so far I hav a bigwig, top force, but hopping sometime next week I’ll have another 3 buggy’s coming, which are the hornet, grasshopper and a wild one, Can’t wait, I was thinking of my first build of a tamiya buggy will be the grasshopper, I think that’s the easiest one to build. Supper excited about getting this buggy’s next week, also waiting on my Porsche 911 GT1, that won’t be delivered for a while, I lot of delays on shipyard the moment, so thanks Glenn. You inspired me with your builds

Excellent that’s great to hear my friend, I’m excited for you 😎👊🏻
Glenn, brilliant video and brilliant detail throughout. Thank you! What a build the Egress is. Only problem is that I have a NIB Egress (2013) I was planning on selling BUT you have managed though this video to convince me to keep it and build it! If only I could get those blue turnbuckle heads..
J Harp
Excellent lol 😂
Have a look for the super ClodBuster parts F tree (I think) it has the turnbuckles 😎👊🏻
Majestic!
Thanks for watching 😊👊🏻
I've just preordered a 2021 Egress re-re online from a Tamiya dealer; they either know for certain it's going to be announced tomorrow by Tamiya or they are taking a punt....can't wait to find out!
