Yeah, but in the video it’s framed differently. He has it here as a way to show that the cops liked what they did. Intentionally or not, it is framed to show that the cops WANTED to get him food and take care of him. Just like the high fives, they were happy they got a criminal, not that lives were lost. There are plenty of cops that do bad shit, I just hate when they do nothing wrong and still get hate.

To all the people that do not understand the physicology, the reason the cops were being so nice is to make him feel comfortable, so that when it comes to questioning him he feels open and it's easy to get information out of him.
For people that are confused: They were only nice to him and got him food to make him more comfortable to get him to confess to the crimes. I’m not defending him in any way shape or form, as I am Christian myself, I’m just providing both sides of the story.
That’s what I was thinking. His crimes are absolutely disgusting and it hurts my heart that those sweet people went through that. But that being said I doubt that the cops would buy him Burger King just because they wanted to. You’re only nice and “befriend” murderers if you need something out of them.

That's an interrogation tactic. You get people what they want and lull them into a false sense of security, then you ask them questions that seem innocent and inconspicuous, and they might accidentally admit to something.

It is a basic police interrogation tactic. It is literally the most basic and simple. Treat you life a friend to get you to open up. Offering you food and water is literally the first thing they do. In case you didn't notice the cop that gave a high five was black. A proper officer knows how to block their personal feelings and give a proper interrogation act. A lot of the time when someone is suspected of killing out of racism they will have an officer of said ethnic origin to be part of it to see how the suspect reacts. First off. Most criminals("suspects") are given food and are treated nicely to get them to confess. It's one of the easier ways to get people to talk. One of the key parts to getting information out of a suspect is to make them feel comfy, there are two paths to interrogating, good cop and bad cop. Its obvious they chose good cop to make him feel as though his actions werent severe and made him mentally feel like he could be a lil more honest than he wouldve been if they slammed him on the ground and into the car while bombarding him with insults.

The first one is a stretch, but I don’t blame you because interrogation isn’t a well known topic. If you watch any interrogation on UA-cam with a mass murderer, they have to get the motive for the murder for the court to decide on a verdict. They need information about the attack and why It was committed, what lead the murders to happen, and if anyone else is involved. They never know unless they ask the suspect. They often bring these people food to try and make the suspect they believe they’re on the same side. Because if they feel threatened or looked down upon, they are not going to talk.
The real footage is far different then this edited version. They high fived to celebrate his capture. The food, as said, is a legal issue but what their treatment does is build rapport. If he’s treated bad off the bat then he won’t talk to them and the families may want to know why

@@Starshadow-dm8ds and why would the cops risk giving the killers lawyer something to use in court when they can give the guy bk and get a full confession?
This is called building rapport. You do this to make the person feel more welcome, more accepted. This is more often than not done inside the interrogation room, but can sometimes happen outside, like while being transported to your cell after being arrested. They give you food, act friendly with you, and with each other. They may downplay your crimes, and even act empathetic. All of this is to make it more likely for you to confess. A documented confession would save them a lot of time and resources. This isn’t directly protocol, _but_ it does help with the interrogation later on. Is it unusual? Does it happen rarely? Yes. But it is _not_ done to treat the suspect like they did nothing wrong. Quite the opposite in fact. Let’s not just choose an opinion (most likely what the majority has already decided is their opinion), and actually look at procedures, consequences (A leads to B leads to C), and well, just thinking. Another thing I heavily dislike is letting newspapers (digital or not) choosing your opinion for you. They warp it to be the most outrageous version of the story, to get you to click on it. I mean, which are you most likely to click on? “Officers buys racist murderer food from Burger King” or “Officers buys racist murderer food to help interrogators get a confession”? Likely the first one, and those newspapers _know that._ That’s why they chose that headline, they know you’ll click it / buy the paper, which means they get money. Edit: Another thing - They didn’t bring him to burger king. They brought the food to him, which they are required to _by law._ They can’t just straight-up starve the suspects lmao
I'm grateful to find another with common sense here, you're so right! It's sickening that these videos and those papers reap clicks and money from falsehoods and flashy titles and lies. No, they're not "spreading awareness" or helping or representing the lost voices, they're reaping clicks and coins. Wonder if a channel could be made to call out this bullcrap... I'd love to see that.
I’m confused though why does an interrogation matter in this sense? We know he did it, we know he was alone. He killed 9(?)people I think. What else matters? Ig where he got the guns from and stuff matters but can’t you find the serial number on it and figure that out?

Just going to set a few things straight here: 1) The police didn’t “bring” him to Burger King. That’s a lie. The Burger King meal was brought to him. 2) It’s actually very common practice for small jails that don’t have their own food services, and are only meant to temporarily hold prisoners, to serve fast food. The twisted little bastard didn’t get special treatment. The police didn’t have the facilities to feed him, and were still legally required to feed him, as they do anyone else that’s in their custody. The Shelby Police SOP just happens to be that if they are holding someone(regardless of the reason) they are fed meals from nearby fast food restaurants.
@@sophsbored132 Not the officers choice. They have policies and SOP’s to follow. No matter how atrocious the act they have committed may be. All prisoners have to be treated equally. Especially if they are un-convicted. Like it or not, it’s the law, and it exists that way because of all the people who have been wrongfully arrested. It’s not a cop’s job to judge or punish those they arrest, their job is to charge them and detain them as needed for their time in court. Trust me, I know exactly how hard it is to do that when you know someone is guilty of heinous and disgusting acts. I left that field of work for that very reason.
They high fived for catching him, then they got him Burger King so he would think they were on his side so he would tell them more about what they did so they could put him in prison longer
For everyone hating on the cops, when someone is arrested it is common practice to treat them kindly so that they will cooperate with the police during interrogation. If you get someone’s trust they are much more likely to confess.
If you think this is normal interrogation tactics you are crazy. Being nice and taking him out for Burger king are very different things. Playing the nice tactic would be offering food and water and talking to him in a way that it seems they are making an effort to understand him and say his crime wasn't as bad as it was (a comforting lie for him), not taking him to Burger King, which would be highly irregular in any case. You are right that police do use that tactic, but the things the cops did here, high fiving him and taking him to burger king, were way too extreme to be that. That's a ridiculous idea. That isn't a normal thing done with criminals in any case and you are lying and trying to justify the police's actions if you insist it is.

Edit: this was in 2015 btw, so not that it’s less sad, but it’s also not something that just happened
Bro exactly people don't tell the story just to make people agree with them.
I don't think he said they high fived him
@@grime69 he literally did
@@whalehellothere4825 he said they high fived each other after they caught him pretty sure
@@whalehellothere4825 He literally didn't, actually. What he literally said was was they they high-fived. He didn't say that they high-fived him, like when explaining every other thing the police actually did for him 🤔
please please PLEASE mention next time that the reason they treated him the way they did when arresting him was to make him feel comfortable to talk. they 100% did NOT want to treat him nicely, they did it solely to make him confess to throw him in jail for longer.
I'm crying right now. This is goddamn atrocious what the hell is wrong with this world.
This was heartbreaking since he said to them he needed their prayers.
they cheered him on? what? this is a hate crime against black ppl. we shouldn't discriminate bc of skin tone!!!✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏻✊🏼✊
Bro tf is there the yellow tone for 💀 who the fucks race are you even representing? The Simpsons?
It is a basic interrogation tactic.
@@TheMilkMan8008 yeah exactly, they trynna make him as comfortable as possible to get him to talk more, he obviously did it, and they know that, but now they were looking for motives, reasons, etc.
there’s no discrimination just a simple tactic they used to make him tell them more info.
@@TheMilkMan8008 i mean most people dont know that and the person in the video viewed the police the wrong way causing people to be confused. dont act like your better than people
that’s ruthless how do you even have evil thoughts while being at church. smh.
That dispatcher did her job- that's a good recommendation to be quiet if someone's hunting you down so they don't find you, all they need is for you to be on the line witn them and they can find you
