I like Chairon and Gadriel as characters, but you cannot deny that the game this man oversaw consists of 3 space marines: a white guy, a black guy and an Asian trying to save 3 planets. His quote is irrelevant in my eyes, words are irrelevant, actions are important. People are overlooking the fact that this game has DEI because they can’t bare to accept that DEI has already infected Warhammer. It would’ve been less glaringly obvious if there were other central characters. As it stands we have a 33% trio of white black and asian as the figureheads for this game. That’s just a fact. Maybe the CEO needs to think about that the next time he makes such a hypocritical statement. Most fans are blind to it, don’t want to acknowledge it, or ignore it. Wokeness in 40k is so stupid. In one of the Dawn of Fire books a Mordian general says that he failed the emperor by not having a son. The imperium is a meat grinder with no place for anything other than new soldiers to be born and die in his wars.

1. The finishers are a bit repetitive (Over 50 finishers means nothing when you play it a lot). 2. The game is repetitive and i cant wait to see what comes in future to spice up the formula a bit. 3. Almost every encounter devolves into short range combat or mele. 4. Parrying isnt as consistant as it should be as some enimies can be countered but they wont be indicated. Im not saying i hate the game, infact as a Warhammer fan for years now im happy they have finally made a game that does the lore justice. I just wish they had added more content to enjoy. I do feel that the score of a 6/10 was a bit low but almost expected as i supose the author probably isnt massive on Warhammer lore and as such didnt have the same gameplay loop as me as wanting to explore as much and wanting to hear all of the audio clips to fully explore all of the lore of the game. Edit: Agree with the helldivers style gamemodes extending the life of the game.
Its kinda hilarious imo, defenders of every franchise are so quick to shoot down any valid complaints, then wonder why the future sequels start to suck. While the game is fun, its also super repetitive reminding me heavily of the old gears of war games minus the wall hugging, il probably complete the game then never play it again as i seriously struggle to find replay value in linear games (Thats a me problem). Always been a fan of the 40k franchise, even if that's a fan in the casual sense, as iv never played the tabletop experience but have always been a fan of the IP and its theme's but its moronic to completely disregard opinion's that arnt "Add Women character please" style opinions. While i agree id love to play as a women character, id also like that women character to be Eldar. Where it make's sense in the lore of the world. This game has been a huge wake up call for people it seems for a new woke world war 2 :'D The game's story telling is great, however i feel like the story is the strongest part of this game.

"This game is repetitive!" So is classic Doom. You know, that 20-something-year-old game that still TO THIS DAY has a modding community? What's more, there's specific fan-made maps designed entirety around slaughtering thousands of demons (slaughter maps). Almost like some gamers just like to slay tons of enemies at a time with an arsenal of weapons, and don't care that "The execution animations are repetitive!" Another example: Gears of War. GOW 2 was the first game to really expand on the idea of execution moves, and despite my hundreds of hours fighting offline bots, I still use the executions, cause they're awesome and satisfying. These 'journalists' have no clue how an average gamer thinks...

I'd like to say, for the sake of the argument, that me and my friends have noticed a significant number of enemies doing counterable attacks where we get no hud marker, or even dodgeable attacks with no hud marker. They're pretty infrequent, but they are there. Btw what I mean is attacks that every other time they're done have a parry or dodge indicator. As for the rest of the article's argument it's indefensible.
The Wokies can go make their own gaming lines and make it how they wish. They can go fund a kickstarter and do their own thing, and not wreck a classic. Because here and now, patience - and tolerance - has run thin.
The entire PCGamer article just pretty much says 2 things: 1. Skill Issue 2. Didnt pay attention to the story, dialogue, or characters. Did they even play the operator missions? Did they take it slow and listen to what the other space marines are saying? Did they bother to learn about warhammer lore AT ALL before playing the game? I think the answer would be no.

You got to remember the thing with games journalists. They go in with a predetermined idea about the games they play, and only play enough to confirm their idea. As we saw with Black Myth Wukong especially, they won't play past the opening couple hours, if that.
5:30 the finishers are bad because there's only a handful per enemy type, some only have 1 or 2, and many take too long. DOOM 2016 did it right with how they're all super quick and enemies have different animations based on where you're targeting.
I can half agree on this. There's some 'trials' for the multiplayer classes and I literally could not get gold on a few without avoiding doing normal executions and doing gun strike kills instead, because the timer doesn't pause while they go on and there's little if any control over which animation is done on an enemy. However, that's more an issue with how tight the timers are, since the executions are pretty deliberately a rough length so you can get it into muscle memory how long your invulnerable for, letting you consider your next move. that being said, I get where your coming from. Doom 2016 was designed for those faster kills to keep the flow going.

There are SOME. Normal civilians that just want left alone. Soldiers fighting for their people to keep them safe (Eldar, guardsman, sisters, tau even) the handful of really evil ones are cartoonishly evil, on purpose. Doom 2016 had a similar design philosophy, forcing you to stay moving and in the face of your enemies to perform executions for health survival. It’s brilliant design imo as the way to persevere is to seek out more conflict rather than running…this pc gamer reviewer probably thought that game was repetitive too. That being said more finishers would be dope
I've seen a lot of people new to the game struggle because when they get beat up (or just take a big burst of damage) they get defensive and start trying to back away. Which the game's designed to punish instead of reward. You have to get in and start getting perrys or executions to recover when you get hurt, especially with bursts of damage because of the whole 'contested health' mechanic. (Best name for what I've long referred to as 'bloodborne health' by the way.)
My only complaint about the vid is what you said about the PVP. You simply don't understand the pvp, brotha. On the surface it seems ridiculous, but it's a lot more in depth than it looks. Once you understand the ins and outs of each class/weapon/utility, it's pretty fun.
Can we stop confusing woke and communism and socialism? America doesnt have different economic ideologies so can only understand things culturally but communism and socialism are economic ideologies, not cultural ones. Germany and USSR offered a far right socialism and communism in the past - cultural alignment is irrelevant to an economic ideology and not inherent to it.
The west (all parties) are currently economically fascist, but have wide agreement on woke racism and far left cultural ideology. Only by separating the understanding of cultural and economic alignment can ever begin to change things for the better.

I am truly wondering how many of the people who keep attacking this aren't individuals with an authentic opinion, but hired and paid company and consulting people and influencers, who's purpose is to help the argument at Amazon to say: See we need woke in the TV show.
I think the only thing they need to change about the parry and unparryable attacks are the sounds they give off. At the moment, they make the same sound, so when I heard the sound, more often than not, it's the parry, so I press my parry button, but if it's not a parry, i've just locked myself into the parry animation, guaranteeing a free hit. The window for perfect parry and perfect dodge are arguably pretty small, feeling like just about the last frame of the animation, but you can still do normal dodges and blocks.
Gotta agree with the reviewer here. And yeah, I think doom eternal is also mostly garbage and doom 2016 on closer inspection playing it a second time after finishing eternal, most of it was nostalgia mixed with "woah" plus "music album comes with a free game" imo. Still I don't think sm2 deserved 6/10, work was put in and fun is to be had, I'd say not less than 7/10 for that.
I don’t think they realized that the blue flash is for grab attacks, all other none red flash melee attacks are also parable just with a smaller window.
The ironic part is that official GW would probably dunk on them these days because they were using white stones as minis, GW can't sell plastic if you use imaginary minis with auxiliary tokens! XD
The parry system isn't very well communicated to the player, as it works differently in the different modes. in Operations you have to pay attention to which defense mode your melee weapon has, there are 3 different ones, and one of them does not allow you to parry at all, which had me confused until I randomly noticed it in the menus.
I feel like there are some problems with the guns, Bolt rounds are insane, they're rocket propelled ap rounds with a prox detonation while it's inside as to not over pen the target. When I pump 40+ rounds into a targets head it just ruins the immersion. It also has damage drop-off which makes no sense because it picks up speed mid-air. They just oughta buff them in PvE
Warhammer never had woke fans. There's people who sit in the shadows looking to bring in their stupid BS, and destroy everyone else's favorite shows, programs, games, etc. Don't forget that when they get a chance at making their version, it sucks, they complain, throw insults, claim to be a victim, etc. We, the Warhammer 40K fans, were the WRONG fanbase to pick a fight with. We read about all aspects... Of Warfare (in a grimdark future). FOR FUN. It's like a pigeon picking a fight with a velociraptor. It's a dumb idea worthy of a Darwin award just for thinking of it.
Because helmets break and Space Marines need to be able to keep fighting effectively after that happens. (or jamming, EMP, Warp BS) Iron sights are dirt cheap, so why not have them for those occasions? Space Marines are expensive to make.

Just bought the game today, hadn't time to play yet but my son had a 6 hour session, for context he's a 27 year old paratrooper. Every time I asked how does he find the combat I only got "for the Emperor!", "die xeno scum" and other known adages as a response.

1. The finishers are a bit repetitive (Over 50 finishers means nothing when you play it a lot).
2. The game is repetitive and i cant wait to see what comes in future to spice up the formula a bit.
3. Almost every encounter devolves into short range combat or mele.
4. Parrying isnt as consistant as it should be as some enimies can be countered but they wont be indicated.
Im not saying i hate the game, infact as a Warhammer fan for years now im happy they have finally made a game that does the lore justice. I just wish they had added more content to enjoy. I do feel that the score of a 6/10 was a bit low but almost expected as i supose the author probably isnt massive on Warhammer lore and as such didnt have the same gameplay loop as me as wanting to explore as much and wanting to hear all of the audio clips to fully explore all of the lore of the game.
Edit: Agree with the helldivers style gamemodes extending the life of the game.

While the game is fun, its also super repetitive reminding me heavily of the old gears of war games minus the wall hugging, il probably complete the game then never play it again as i seriously struggle to find replay value in linear games (Thats a me problem).

What's more, there's specific fan-made maps designed entirety around slaughtering thousands of demons (slaughter maps). Almost like some gamers just like to slay tons of enemies at a time with an arsenal of weapons, and don't care that "The execution animations are repetitive!"
Another example: Gears of War. GOW 2 was the first game to really expand on the idea of execution moves, and despite my hundreds of hours fighting offline bots, I still use the executions, cause they're awesome and satisfying.

I'd like to say, for the sake of the argument, that me and my friends have noticed a significant number of enemies doing counterable attacks where we get no hud marker, or even dodgeable attacks with no hud marker. They're pretty infrequent, but they are there. Btw what I mean is attacks that every other time they're done have a parry or dodge indicator. As for the rest of the article's argument it's indefensible.
The Wokies can go make their own gaming lines and make it how they wish. They can go fund a kickstarter and do their own thing, and not wreck a classic. Because here and now, patience - and tolerance - has run thin.

You got to remember the thing with games journalists. They go in with a predetermined idea about the games they play, and only play enough to confirm their idea. As we saw with Black Myth Wukong especially, they won't play past the opening couple hours, if that.

5:30 the finishers are bad because there's only a handful per enemy type, some only have 1 or 2, and many take too long. DOOM 2016 did it right with how they're all super quick and enemies have different animations based on where you're targeting.
I can half agree on this. There's some 'trials' for the multiplayer classes and I literally could not get gold on a few without avoiding doing normal executions and doing gun strike kills instead, because the timer doesn't pause while they go on and there's little if any control over which animation is done on an enemy. However, that's more an issue with how tight the timers are, since the executions are pretty deliberately a rough length so you can get it into muscle memory how long your invulnerable for, letting you consider your next move. that being said, I get where your coming from. Doom 2016 was designed for those faster kills to keep the flow going.

To be fair, The imperium are bad, VERY bad, but so is everyone else, there is no good guys in Warhammer 40k.
There are SOME. Normal civilians that just want left alone. Soldiers fighting for their people to keep them safe (Eldar, guardsman, sisters, tau even) the handful of really evil ones are cartoonishly evil, on purpose. It's a universe where everything is dialed up to 11. Even the pacifists are forced to sit it all out as servitors or in a hive or manufactorum for their whole life.

This all so very sad. DEI sounds great on paper and something to aspire towards, not just in media but in life. But these activists have corrupted the meaning of it. DEI for them means Dominate, Exclude and Injure.. "If you don't submit to my will then you'll be mocked and ridiculed until you lose everything you've worked your entire life for and are left alone to rot." is basically what they're saying. Dustborn and the (laughingly miniscule) amount of support it got is proof of that. It's just so sad that they're too blind to see that they're corrupting the very thing they claim they're fighting for.

There are so many amazing strong female characters in Warhammer that everyone likes because they are beautiful and well written.
This other stuff is just giving the dog the bone and then everything else follows.
Doom 2016 had a similar design philosophy, forcing you to stay moving and in the face of your enemies to perform executions for health survival. It’s brilliant design imo as the way to persevere is to seek out more conflict rather than running…this pc gamer reviewer probably thought that game was repetitive too. That being said more finishers would be dope
I've seen a lot of people new to the game struggle because when they get beat up (or just take a big burst of damage) they get defensive and start trying to back away. Which the game's designed to punish instead of reward. You have to get in and start getting perrys or executions to recover when you get hurt, especially with bursts of damage because of the whole 'contested health' mechanic. (Best name for what I've long referred to as 'bloodborne health' by the way.)
My only complaint about the vid is what you said about the PVP. You simply don't understand the pvp, brotha. On the surface it seems ridiculous, but it's a lot more in depth than it looks. Once you understand the ins and outs of each class/weapon/utility, it's pretty fun.

Germany and USSR offered a far right socialism and communism in the past - cultural alignment is irrelevant to an economic ideology and not inherent to it.
The west (all parties) are currently economically fascist, but have wide agreement on woke racism and far left cultural ideology.
Only by separating the understanding of cultural and economic alignment can ever begin to change things for the better.

I am truly wondering how many of the people who keep attacking this aren't individuals with an authentic opinion, but hired and paid company and consulting people and influencers, who's purpose is to help the argument at Amazon to say: See we need woke in the TV show.
I think the only thing they need to change about the parry and unparryable attacks are the sounds they give off. At the moment, they make the same sound, so when I heard the sound, more often than not, it's the parry, so I press my parry button, but if it's not a parry, i've just locked myself into the parry animation, guaranteeing a free hit.
The window for perfect parry and perfect dodge are arguably pretty small, feeling like just about the last frame of the animation, but you can still do normal dodges and blocks.

This is one of those "journalists" that not only played on the Journalist difficulty, and still failed miserably.
Gotta agree with the reviewer here. And yeah, I think doom eternal is also mostly garbage and doom 2016 on closer inspection playing it a second time after finishing eternal, most of it was nostalgia mixed with "woah" plus "music album comes with a free game" imo. Still I don't think sm2 deserved 6/10, work was put in and fun is to be had, I'd say not less than 7/10 for that.

You can also parry attacks that are not telegraphed. Almost any melee attack can be parried followed up with a pistol finisher/counter.
I don’t think they realized that the blue flash is for grab attacks, all other none red flash melee attacks are also parable just with a smaller window.
The reviewer just wanted to sabotage/ punish a game that's been very well received, simply because it doesn't obey their agenda and tone policing.
The ironic part is that official GW would probably dunk on them these days because they were using white stones as minis, GW can't sell plastic if you use imaginary minis with auxiliary tokens! XD
Explains why the guy in the shop objected when I asked if you could toy soldiers as Imperial Guard.
The parry system isn't very well communicated to the player, as it works differently in the different modes. in Operations you have to pay attention to which defense mode your melee weapon has, there are 3 different ones, and one of them does not allow you to parry at all, which had me confused until I randomly noticed it in the menus.

I feel like there are some problems with the guns, Bolt rounds are insane, they're rocket propelled ap rounds with a prox detonation while it's inside as to not over pen the target. When I pump 40+ rounds into a targets head it just ruins the immersion. It also has damage drop-off which makes no sense because it picks up speed mid-air. They just oughta buff them in PvE
Warhammer never had woke fans. There's people who sit in the shadows looking to bring in their stupid BS, and destroy everyone else's favorite shows, programs, games, etc.
Don't forget that when they get a chance at making their version, it sucks, they complain, throw insults, claim to be a victim, etc.

Why do the bolters have iron sights when the marines helmet does gun tracking for them?
Because helmets break and Space Marines need to be able to keep fighting effectively after that happens. (or jamming, EMP, Warp BS) Iron sights are dirt cheap, so why not have them for those occasions? Space Marines are expensive to make.
