  • On July 20, 2013, the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad operated its first ever "Moonlight Special" from Rockaway Beach all the way to Batterson at the base of the mountains. Pacific Rails Productions takes you aboard this inaugural run as we travel on rare trackage along a significant amount of coastline and up the scenic Nehalem River before heading back under a full moon. All while listening to the musical accompaniment of Greg Schindel, better known as the Train Singer, and his daughter Heidi. All Aboard!

Do you know any Radio scanner frequencies for the Oregon Coast scenic?

I was fireman on this run, the moonlight runs didn't prove to be profitable. backing loco all that way at night was a pain. Dave Profit was engineer, I miss working with him. backing in the dark reminded me the temple of doom tunnel scene.

Looks like OCSR is running them again this year between Garibaldi and Wheeler. I’m glad they’re back, even if it’s on a modified route. It’s a great way to enjoy the sunset along the coast!
