IRL, the Jersey Mob, the DeCavalcante Family was pretty much a glorified crew as they only had a total of about 60 members compared to an average of around 200 per NY family. However, the NJ family, though small, brought in more money than any NY family due to all the harbor, shipping, and sanitation contracts plus they controlled 90% of all construction in both NJ & NY. The actual equivalent of the Luppertazzi Family are the Gambino's as it was the Gambino's who worked directly with the NJ DeCavalcante Family.
Being smaller than a NY family doesn’t make them a glorified crew. Nationally speaking, 60 made members is still a big family. It’s actually New York that is unusual for having such large families.

True, it is (or was) the DeCavalcante crime family... Gambinos. Tony says they have 200 soldiers in the family so that narrows it down to Gambino or Genovese....but also Agent Harris describes Tony's problem being "with Brooklyn" which is much more Gambino territory than Genovese
Possible he became boss of a family but didn't get the official name change until later. I'd imagine that would be a vote of respect by others vs a guy renaming it after himself.
One thing I always understood about the Sopranos' families that we saw in the episodes... Were that they were certainly NOT the ruling families of the entire region. The "NY" boys (aka Phil's, Johnny's, and Carmine's group) were simply a portion or extension of one of the bigger NY Mob's family's. They simply did business with each other or other nearby gangsters who were within a local range. New Jersey (where the Sopranos' crew was located) was just right across the bridge or down the road (so to speak) from Carmine's crew (later Johnny's... then Phils... then Butchies...) That puts it into perspective a bit from the overall bigger picture while at the same time it may also diminish their importance or "ranking level" to some degree.
Amazing video! Though I’m curious about Sal from Yonkers, the dude who outed Vito for being gay. Is he a soldier or associate of one of the five families?
I’ve always wished we got to see a Sopranos Extended Universe (SEU). Like if we got to see a show based on more of the NY family we get to see in the original show, or possibly more on the other 4 families of NY. The SEU would be so fun getting to see the other families knowing this all takes place while the Sopranos are out there. The show is so good I would give anything they put out a chance. For example, people hated on ‘The Many Saints of Newark’ but I don’t understand why. Obviously some of the acting choices or the actors chosen for specific roles were highly questionable, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it, we got to see a great deep backstory of the characters we’ve grown to love. The movie answered a lot of questions and tied storylines together. I really hope David Chase puts out something else. I’ve heard there my be another movie related to ‘Many Saints…’ and possibly a movie related to the main series, potentially being a prequel or even a sequel to the show. I think the ladder is highly unlikely because that would mean clarifying wether or not Tony was clipped at the end. I can’t imagine David Chase wants to make that information definitive. All I know is I love the SEU stuff we have not in the movie, and hopefully there is more. But the YT channels like Kino and Borko, and the podcast ran by Michael Imperioli & Steve Schirripa, these people help majorly in keeping the Sopranos alive. Well done fellas. This life isn’t easy, so I commend you. For Christ sakes, Philly Leotardo did 20 years in the fk’n can, you believe that!
Decavalante Family = Dimeo Family in the Sopranos. Just like the New York crime family in real life, which was the Gambino family was an Off-shoot. People were made under the Gambinos, however, they were noticed as a glorified crew, and since they were separate in their own city, they were known as a family. However, like the Philly family, they had to consult with the Gambinos to get their request heard to the rest of the commission since they did not have a direct seat. Thus, they communicated directly to the Gambino crime family.
Lupertazzis are the Lucheese family. Tony once mentioned they have a hundred soldiers, which puts them as one of the smaller 3 / so either Bonnano, Columbo or Lucheese. Apart from that, I’m just going the LU at the start of the name.

He says 100, which to me narrows it down to the other 3. Lucheese is my guess. Big in Jersey.
Okay you've got some good vids going here you earned a new sub. :)
Welcome to the crew!
Y’all going way to deep REACHING
I know gee-wiz thx for the friendly reminder lol i need Dr Melfi & Elliott 🙃
Excellent content!
Possible he became boss of a family but didn't get the official name change until later. I'd imagine that would be a vote of respect by others vs a guy renaming it after himself.
when they speak of multiple bosses in family he's speaking about a "front boss" basically a decoy like fat Tony with the genovese

New Jersey (where the Sopranos' crew was located) was just right across the bridge or down the road (so to speak) from Carmine's crew (later Johnny's... then Phils... then Butchies...)
That puts it into perspective a bit from the overall bigger picture while at the same time it may also diminish their importance or "ranking level" to some degree.
Don’t forget the Philadelphia family that’s been running the shy game since Moses wore short pants
Amazing video!
Though I’m curious about Sal from Yonkers, the dude who outed Vito for being gay. Is he a soldier or associate of one of the five families?
Hey Kino... the other two channels doing as well as this?
For Christ sakes, Philly Leotardo did 20 years in the fk’n can, you believe that!
they're based on the Genovese Jersey crew; Richie the boot et al.
That glorified crew, whateva happened there?
Love the sopranos vids man. Gotta stick with them. Average about 70k views on sopranos vids and about 7k views on other vids.
You’re damn smart dude. Great 👍 channel. Peace
RIP,Liotta
Great analysis!
Lupertazzis are the Lucheese family. Tony once mentioned they have a hundred soldiers, which puts them as one of the smaller 3 / so either Bonnano, Columbo or Lucheese. Apart from that, I’m just going the LU at the start of the name.
I love how they always called them New York to not give them a specific name.
