Most of you know that Alpha used to be a personal trainer and owner of a fitness center. He also competed as a natural body builder, which he won Natural Nationals. Long before the personal training, he opened a chain of nutrition center. In this video men's style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro says that he knows more about nutrition, diet, fitness, and supplementation than style. It's him and a part of him -- for a very long time. Starting to work out was the single best decision Alpha has made -- it changed his life, and if you decide to do it, working out will change yours.
He's honored and humbled to announce that BodyBuilding.com is the sponsor of this video. For the past 18 years, BodyBuilding.com has been his personal to-go resource for everything fitness related. Alpha details and emphasizes how it's the best resource out there for fitness -- and all the workouts and information are free! You can also research products and read authentic reviews. Their customer service is awesome, and their shipping is super fast.

creatine, whey & casein are the only ones you need
you can absorb everything else from regular food, the supplements mentioned above are good in correlation with athleticism
whey & casein - contains all EAAs, they both have their benefits (different digestion rates). obviously, you could eat regular food for EAAs, but whey & casein are very convenient in terms of accessibility and volume
creatine monohydrate - great for energy replenishment during high-intensity performance

U only need between 0.65- 0.75 g/lb body weight. So if u are 150 lb thats about 100 g per day wich u could get it from whole foods easy. The reason why fitness industry is telling a lie about protien intake is so u go and buy their products. Not many can get in 200-2500 g protein per day just trough food and because of that they manipulate u to go and buy thier products. Its a total waste of money and ur liver and kidney

    Listen.. This is what you need;
    1. Multivitamin
    2. D-vitamin
    3. Omega 3 Fishoil
Optional 4. Protein powder (only if you dont get enough through your diet)
Everything else will only do more damage than good to your body in the long run.
    - Vitamin C: in excess can potentially hurt your muscle hypotrophy.
    - L-Arginine: why not L-leucin? or L-glutamine? or any of the other 22 aminoacids? Cause you get more than enough through a balanced diet, L-Arginine is not superior to any other aminoacid in any way... its not a magic pill... don't full yourself.
    - ZMA: same as above... Balanced diet, + you already get it in your multivitamin. Waste of money.
    - Quadracarn:... another "secret" magic pill... No. Rasberry ketones fuck off... there is no fucking fat burner pill! the only ones that excist are illigal and can potentially kill you, (dnp/effadrine etc.). Calorie defecit folks.
    - CLA: Please just look, just look at the studies... its not that hard, do a google scholar search, or pupmed... Just no. Fake science.
Pre-workout: its caffine... just caffine... drink coffee, much better for you. Or even better, Drik Water... That wont fuck with your circadian rhythm aswell.
    Post.workout: Just drink a proteinshake.
Listen.. i trust people like Eric Helms, Alan Aragon, Layne Norton, the guys who actually have a dergree in this shit, let alone a PHD

I follow Jeff, but he DOES find ways of squeezing 3 minutes of info into 8 minutes. He's a good resource for getting the most out of your workout, though, so you don't have to be in the gym 2 hours a day. And there are so many movements that I've been able to improve on from Jeff to the point where you look around the gym and see everyone working inefficiently, if not completely wrong.

Wasn't used much back in the day and now ppl have all kinds or heart issues from crap like that. Eat your proper nutrition along w/ getting good sleep. You would find that a great workout can still be done w/ out all the stimulants contained in pre-workout. Legal cocain is what I call it. I've never taken a pre-workout and yet have built a nice physique w/ proper training, good sleep and good diet

Basically, unless someone wants to actually be a bodybuilder, there is really no reason to hit protein powders. As you wrote, people don't seem to realize how much effort (and money) it takes to do that. Seems like a miserable existence to me. Most people can just add a little extra protein to their regular diets to try to maintain your mass.

    • @AJHart-eg1ys
      @AJHart-eg1ys 7 років тому

      *****
That's the thing. The powder is not cheaper than actual food. It MAY be a less filling way, but a can of tuna is lean, fairly natural, unsweetened and comes with 20g of protein at about 75 cents per serving.
The whey protein in this vid is one of the lower-cost sources that is still decent as far as percentage of protein by volume. At best, it's still generally going to be an extra nickel per 20g or protein or maybe break even if you get a really good deal.
And always be wary of the tub when it promises 60g of protein, etc. That almost always means multiple servings - not the single serving on the nutrition label. Suddenly the $60 tub of quality whey protein is only going to last you a few weeks.
Plus, in the case of something like tuna you don't have to buy it in mass quantities, you don't have to take up space with a big tub, you can eat it in about a minute, and you don't have to lie to other people about how well it blends and how good it tastes. :)
Of course, then there's the consideration that as you put on weight, you need to consume even MORE protein to maintain/grow. People often become slaves to their protein regimen the same way that smokers and crack addicts are slaves to their vices.

Hey Alpha! So recently I just found out my most trusted multivitamin I’ve been taking for seven years sold out to the Nestle company and apparently the quality has gone to hell.
It’s not just me, the Amazon reviews since they got bought out are absolutely horrible. Everyone is jumping ship. It was Vitamin Code by Garden of Life.
They used to be all about high quality and potency but apparently Nestle said “Um nope, too expensive to make..”
So my question is this: What’s a good multi? Who can we trust? There’s a lot of fake crap out there. I’m 43 years old and I don’t wanna waste time or money with garbage filled low potency vitamins.
    Any help is much appreciated!

Taking supplements is a choice you make when you start to get into fitness, over the years. One thing i realized that once you stop taking things like pre workout, youre not gonna feel the same. And also your body is made in such a way that it can adopt changes at a good pace,So if you need 1 scoop of pre workout when u begin,ur body is gonna adapt to the spike it causes in your body and try to make it minimum. Therefore,i wouldnt recommend taking things like Pre-Workout.

A lot of people are going off the rails with the info they gathered themselves, honestly all you need is a good diet plan (whether it be for bulking or cutting), a tub of whey protein (usually ON or JYM), and if you really want to get into it a preworkout (cellucor c4, ON has a good one too). There's no need for the pills and expensive multivitamins, just go get a cheap one at the store, and the Omega 3's are not that important unless your a little older and maybe you need a small boost, but it's nothing to fret over.
A 5 lb tub of whey
    Any preworkout
    A dieting plan
Oh and a gym to train at at least 4 days a week
Those are the only things you need, and of course don't forget the tiege Hanley haha
Also building muscle takes time so don't expect results immediately, 2-3 months in you should see something but it will be small, go for strength not size and you'll do fine

Just about all of this is snake oil.
Get your macros and micros from whole foods.
Use protein powders only when its convenient.
Use pre workouts if you feel you really need the energy. I personally stick to black coffee.
Creatine monohydrate is definitely worth it if mass and strength are your goals.

I don't leave comments usually however, after reading a lot of yours below I felt incline to do so. Simply to the point, alpham promotes his sponsors to make money and he does not hide that fact. UA-cam is a business let's not forget..and I appreciate his integrity on the manner. On that note (integrity ) I chose to believe that if Aaron puts his seal of approval on a business or product offered by them, he legitimately believes in it.. (maybe you should do one on products you've turned down in the future.) And while he may or may not have PhD what he does have is admirable physique and years of experience as a personal trainer, not to mention a very prestigious bodybuilding award. So I personally would take his opinion over that of a nutrition scientist. I mean if we're talking semantics than why not follow the food pyramid? I'm just saying that science goes back and forth on the touchy subject of nutrition. But results speak for themselves. Thank thank you for the video, and I look for 2 seeing more

My top 10 (not taking into account SARMs/PHs/or AAS)
    1) Protein powder (to get enough in for the day if you get tired of food or just not hungry, not the anabolic window bs)
    2) Creatine (don't bother loading, 5g a day around 5 times a week is sufficient)
    3) Beta alanine (helps with endurance, will make you feel tingly tho)
    4) multivitamin (just to fill in small gaps)
    5) fish oil (skip if you eat a lot of fatty fish on an almost daily basis)
    6) Stims such as: yohimbine/ephedrine/Caffeine/PWO (versatile, EC stack for fat loss, get you pumped up for the gym, saves time on making some coffee, etc)
    7) BCAA (fasted cardio, if you get enough protein and dont do fasted cardio skip it unless you have money to burn and like the taste)
    8) melatonin? (helps you fall asleep, so few supplements are actually useful so im stretching at this point)
    9) umm shit, test booster maybe? (if youre older some might help you just a little, if youre in your 20s or younger dont bother)
    10) well fuck, I hear forskolin isn't half bad for a non stim fat burner, so there you go, 10.
    11) I thought of one!!! joint support, if you've been lifting a while or are old youre joints might need some help if youre lifting some heavy as shit
