it'd be nice to see viewer submitted laptimes going to head to head like this with an analysis. like select a course and car and having people submit there replays for you to analyze the fastest and slowest and what they did wrong sorta thing
Can we just appreciate the music choice used in these videos? This kind of video style is what got me into sim racing (Forza Motorsport). This is the type of music that gets you wanting to DRIVE. Thanks for the content TSRB and I hope you can keep making these.
In my own experience playing RBR (NGP plugin) and AC, I find controllers are particularly viable in Rally Sims over track sims. Tracks often require long, precise inputs which are ultimately the controller's greatest weak point. Rally stages meanwhile mostly tend to have shorter corners, and Rally cars tend to be configured to be quite tolerant to high slip angle or even straight sliding which can be abused to help get a better exit, especially on longer turns. Obviously not as much potential speed as a wheel even in rally, but what Controllers seem to be best at is quick, decisive motions, which work well when weaving through fast and windy gravel roads in Finland.
I have better luck rallying and drifting on controller compared to a wheel but lap times on tarmac favor wheel. The rapid switch between the directions helps a ton
For those on a controller the best advice I've ever heard for it is to roll your left stick around the top when turning left and right. Every racing game save for the WipEout series don't care about forward/backward left stick inputs so using the edge of the control stick maximizes fine turn adjustment.
I would Like to suggest a slight correction/correct a misconception: Us gamepad users don't actually go purely by vision, since like the mid 2015s there are controllers with rather fine and varied vibration, even directional vibration. Just like with a wheel and no "butt feedback" so to say, we too just learn by intuition to feel when the edge of grip is reached or crossed and how harshly. We might even have a slight advantage when it comes to braking purely because we "feel" the end of the tires grip approaching while braking, which I'm not sure is conveyed the same way through a wheel. The way to brake in this case is, for example, to move your finger up on the trigger and use it with the second or even first digit of the finger to kinda mechanically restrict your own body to do repeatable, much more precise and more LIMITED inputs just on the edge of grip. Steering meanwhile should be done with a modified, longer stick or, maybe even better, by pushing the stick forward at all times and ROLLING it when steering. Of course, I'm not saying a gamepad is a better input method than a wheel, statistically it clearly isn't, I'm just trying to clear up a bit of a misconception as to how much of a disadvantage a controller actually is.
Ripley is my only real sim racing friend, and we both ran Tsukuba for the first time for this video, hoping to engage a little with the community we love! Ripley and I started getting into actual simulators around the same time, but during the first year, he couldn't afford a wheel, so we constantly battled to post faster times on touges, raced on servers together, and enjoyed all that goodness. It was a closed experiment comparing wheel versus controller, and as much as I hate to admit it, he has proven to be faster than me a good number of times while using that controller. Happy to know that at the very least I wasn't the only one to be left in the dust by ripley_10MO
Thank you mate for this video its helpful for me to understand how to hit apex corners without losing speed at corners and straight also i will rewatching this video again soon and also if i GT7 on ps4 i would try to do attempt this driving skill on every race tracks on GT7 .
the biggest difference there imho is, is when one is at a racing track with other competitors and or when doing just a time lap all by yourself on the track - how can one manage a perfect lap if one is surrounded by other cars "being in the way" that just has to mess with your racing line and lap times as well, right? it is not like one can manage to make other cars get ouf of the way or straight up disappear when they are in the way
2:15 SHOTS FIRED SHOTS FIRED 😂😂 some of us just don't have a PC lol, GT7 is the best we got; and to be fair, it's come a long way with the most recent suspension update
maybe "the hacker" just used a lower air temperature, most Assetto Corsa lap records are made by lowering air temperature, it gives you more top speed and reduces tyres overheating. If you specified a standard temperature it could be considered as cheating too.
Even in optimal conditions and with a setup, max speed on a near perfect lap on the last straight is 101.9mph. It's very clear that he was a cheater. He was hitting speeds that the 86 tuned hits on that straight, and their p/w ratio is significantly different.
In optimal conditions, this car can do a 1:07.3. However the challenge was to use stock tune with no abs on a restricted air and road temp. That means every single run was on overpressured tires so you had to be very careful on corner exit. You had to manage wheelspin.
Does anyone know how he layers replays like that to compare two laps? I’d love to do that with my own replays or against my friends but I cant find any info online
Even if the red car wasn't hacking he would still lose, entering corners with too much speed - If you try to be fast you will always be slow. If you look like you are going slow you are actually going fast since you focus on accuracy into the corners and you match your gears with the corners and the speed you use approaching those corners
I used slip angle in midnight racing tokyo and it is scarily similiar to how it works in asseto corsa. Midnight racing tokyo is a pretty good cheap way to learn a little bit of driving on roblox
Interesting to see someone mentioned Roblox in comparison to Assetto but I have to agree it's not a terrible way to start a sim racing career nor is Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo 7 in my opinion

as a game? deffinitely no... as far as simulation goes? deffinitely yeah... (imho any game that can overcome the amount of driveable cars, in comparison to GT games, while delivering the most realistic handling for each individual car, will surpass any game)
@Thraakull nah, Forza is more arcade, not as bad as The Crew but still arcade. GT is a mix of both Simulator and Arcade, like a simulator, but easy and fun like an arcade

I even got all gold in the license tests and the time trials in My First Gran Turismo! I never even played Assetto Corsa! I don't have a PC! I will never install these mods with the content manager! I don't need or want your help to help me get faster! And no, I still do not think driving around mindlessly is the right mode for me, not racing! What do you even want from me, anyway?!

Take the analog stick for steering. Push it forward and roll it back and forth. You now have precision steering control.

motorcycles games entered the chat (but they actually require that circling technique)
@tank-eleven to be fair the only motorcycle games I can name are Super Hang-On and Mariokart Wii.

ofc its lacuna
Make a similar video about shifting starting from a standing still launch to engine braking and Rev matching
it finally came out
I finally dont feel ashamed of using a gamepad now lol

would be nice to see the lap times aswell for comparison
