I have two Boar Semogue brushes (1305 and 2000) only and love them. But, very difficult, if not impossible to get in touch with Semogue. One of my brushes is losing bristles after only three years or so. Not a huge deal, just wish I could speak directly to them.

I really hate that guitar bumper music. Now having said that, I think that whatever type of knot you want, Semogue is the best balance of quality and value in the market. If you think that boar brushes can not be soft and luxurious, try a Semogue. You will be surprised. Just be sure that you let it break in before making a judgement.

Top quality brushes. Switched back to boar several months ago. Top value for money.

I love my boar brush. When it's time for me to shave, my beard itch is unbearable and a boar brush is what the doctor ordered to get rid of it. After 10 years of wet shaving, I think it's time I look into getting a nice brush. Semogue has always caught my eye and so has Shavemack.

I have Semogue boar brushes in 620, 830 and 1460. The 1460 I have never used because I bought it to use during the nhl playoffs when the Blackhawks last played in one.😢

I picked up three different G5C knots in various sizes along with an adjustable brush from Timeless. With that and my trusty boar brush, I'm all set. Honestly, I prefer to invest my cash in razors and shaving soap instead. Good video and a very respected line.

I have a SEMOGUE OWNERS CLUB FINEST BADGER with CHERRY WOOD HANDLE that is both Elegant in Look and Fantastic in Performance, and I have to get a SEMOGUE OWNERS CLUB BOAR* with CHERRY WOOD (or maybe ASH WOOD for this one) HANDLE as well.
    - - - - - - - - - - - -
    * Of course I already have two OMEGA BOARS; a Professional 10048 with a Chrome-Colour Plastic Handle and a 10077 with a Blue/Black Plastic Handle, but I hate Plastic and other Synthetic Materials, and I only like NATURAL MATERIALS (like WOOD, METAL, BONE, HORN, SHELLS/SEA-SHELLS, TUSK, and IVORY) for Handles.

    Very good brand.
The boar knot in the cherry wood handle is my favourite

They are a great line of brushes.
I have the boar, boar/badger mix, horse hair, and badger.
All great, including the owners' club versions.
Once they're run in (I use the soak scrub method) very soft on the face, with a solid backbone. Great for shaving soap use and face lathering.
They certainly last, are well made, and look/feel great in wood or synthetic handle.
    Highly recommended

I have both their badger (I think I chose their top grade variant) and their boar in the Owners Club wooden handle. Both brushes must be over 8 or 9 years old- amazing quality, I’d say zero hair loss. Easily among the best of the brushes that I own. They go head to head with my Simpsons, probably have them on the run in most categories and at a significantly lower price point!

    Although many people dislike
boar brushes, i like them a lot.
You have to put it in cold water
for 2 or 3 days and after that
    they last a lifetime. Besides,
with a 2 or 3 months of use
    they become softer. Just try
    it and you will see.

I’ve had a cheap boar and cheap badger; emphasis on cheap when starting out. I stepped up to a Simpson synthetic that I like a lot.
Lately, I’ve been debating on horse; which I thought, that front wood handle was going to be in this video.

I have a boar Semogue brush over a decade old. In fact, it's the same boar model you have here. I'm pretty sure if hasn't ever lost one hair, and it has split beautifully over the years. Semogue is definitely hard to beat imo.

Thanks for this new spotlight. I have two Semogue badger brushes, and they are among my favorite. They both have the same knots, but the handles are different...and I love the way they both feel and the great lather they build.

Could one expect some irritation as well, from a boar brush... because of it's scrubbier properties?
I'm on the fence about getting one because my skin can be sensitive, at times. Want one but, I dunno'.

    • @RazorEmporium
      @RazorEmporium  3 дні тому

Well if the skin is an issue and not the stubble maybe consider a badger or synthetic

Semogue boar brushes are pretty soft. They're softer than the Omega and Zenith ones I've tried, and they don't smell like many natural hair brushes do. They're as soft or softer than a few of my badger brushes. I think the height of the bristles makes them less stiff than some other brushes.

I second what Lee said above. I have found Semogue boar hair brushes (1305 and 2000) remarkably soft and soothing. But, it will take about 3-4 weeks to "break them in." Even fresh out of the box, it shouldn't be uncomfortable, just know that it will get better as time goes on. It's a brush, the exfoliation that happens is really on the very micro level. They are priced where you can give one a try, I think. $14-20?

Matt, I'm having some trouble getting the Stirling Barbershop scent out of one of my Semogue boar hair brushes. What do you recommend? I tried Dr. Bronner's unscented soap with tea tree oil and cleaned it on a makeup brush cleaner silicone pad. Should I just go for the palmolive?

Nice brushes, especially like the looks of their new Synthetic.
Strangely enough I've not got a Semogue in my brush rotation, mostly Simpson, Omega, Yaqi, DSC, Muhle, AP shave Co etc
🤔 Might need to treat myself to a Semogue at some point soon 😊

I like boar hair myself. I'll use a badger with softer creams. Not a fan of synthetic because they just feel like a paint brush like what I'd use to paint my house with. Nothing wrong with them but just too soft for me.
