You selling that d day zippo?
You selling
I have to say that the Zippo company is shear genius. Change nothing for 90 years, thus making all of the parts compatible over the years and STILL raking in the dough.
not all parts are compatible. zippos design changed a few times during the history. some changes were big (especially during the early years of zippo), some barely noticeable. still, not all parts are compatible to each other.
@Rox Fox You must just be heaps of fun at parties. It was not meant to be a history lesson for anyone. Just a casual observation. 😏
I think part of the reason they are still raking in the dough, based on YT content, is that people regularly lose them! It is one thing if it is a generic lighter, and another thing altogether for a commemorative one.
If it 'ain't broke... don't fix it.
(If it 'is' broke.. fix it and make a youtube video about it!)
That lighter was made in 1994.
IX Zippo is a 1993 model. 30 years of corrosion and neglect melted away. What a wonderful job! The Zippo company themselves should be impressed. Fantastic work as always.
It’s not. 1933 model, 1933 is when zippo produced their first lighter, the overall design has stayed the same but if it had the Amphibious Ranger badge on it then I’m sure it’s not from 1933
@@travismajszak551 They said 1993 not 1933, so they seem to be correct about the year for IX
@@travismajszak551there is always someone who will misread and try to correct. How did you manage?
Look carefully at the insert. H 05 on its side means made in August 2005.
1993 and 8/2005
Man, you are on another level. Those were some great shots. I follow you for some years now and seeing the evolution in your videos is pretty cool. Thanks for the work, your are the best of them, keep it up.
. Azaad
Your right cause this guy spent HOURS filming ALLLLLLLLLL these videos just to post them on UA-cam for entertainment😊😊😊😊
Just for entertainment?….not to earn money no lol

Not enough WD40
It's enough for my wife's hemorrhoids

Beautifully done, Tysy. What a striking remembrance of such a fateful day. I'm just grateful my father missed it. He had plenty on his plate in the S. Pacific.
Well, my grandfather missed it because he was on the eastern Front. Unfortunately, for the wrong side though.

Beautiful restoration Tysy, as you have accustomed us. The improvement in content quality these past few months has been astounding. Congratulations from Uruguay 🇺🇾
Dude thank you for having a dark setup because I be watching these before bed and it’s nice to not be flashbanged by a table at 3 am😭😭
Superb job. My father was in the Royal Engineers and went across on D-Day+1, he never talked about his action or what he saw, but clearly saw plenty with three Oak Leaf "mentioned in dispatches" commendations. A very quiet kind gently spoken man.
Once again, proof of why you're still #1. Love your Zippo restorations more than anything else. Those lighters bring back so many great memories of special occasions when they were presented as a gift to another member of my military family. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
My cousin's grandfather was an American soldier during WWII and he was there. Many years later, the 2 of them were watching the movie, "Saving Private Ryan" and at the Normandy scene, right after they drop the doors from the boats, his grandfather had to get up and leave. He was outside crying and he told my cousin, "It's too accurate and real to relive it."
Absolute same experience with my own grandfather. That was the only time I ever saw that man cry.
1:45 “I’ll add a squeeze of wd40!”
*adds a giant amount💀🗿*
12.6 metric squizes 👍
1/2 the can 😆
@@JulieT.. True💀😂
Side comment: Gotta love how cinematic your restorations are. Beautiful shots of smoke and the process.
The best thing is to wake up the day with a restoration video. Cheers, TySy 😊
Beautiful job! I'm old enough to remember when refillable lighters like the Zippo were still the most common. Back then, people took care of the things they owned and took pride in how long they lasted. The Zippo and Ronson lighters were proud possessions for lots of people. It really says something that Zippo is still around even 50 years after the lighter industry came to be dominated by makers of crappy disposable lighters from companies like Bic. Great video.
As always, pristine museum quality craftmanship. Artistic perfection of the highest calibur.
Any museum would be extremely lucky to have you restore antique pieces for them.
Tysy is world class for sure.
I watch other restorative geniuses on UA-cam, but you are the King of them all! I am ALWAYS super excited when you put out another video.........especially ones with some historical significance. You've given that lighter at least another 100 years of life!! ❤❤
Nice restoration. The original 1994 D-day 50 years anniversary Zippo had a kind of black wrinkle paint on it originally. And the "leafs" in the brass emblem were painted red.
But still lovely job.
Not only he restore rusty objects
But he also restore our soul with his videos ♡
Nice restoration. I know quite a bit about D-day, and the Canadians and others who served. Never forgotten, always honored .
Very satisfying to see. And may i say it... how bold Tysy to almost show yourself in a video!! :D Thanks for the upload!
That was…. Amazing!!
And so beautifully filmed too.
Beauty and purpose returned, how great is that!!!
Thank you !
Although it's been a while since I've dropped by your channel, you're still my favorite restorator. I'm so impressed with how much your videos have elevated through time. You've nailed this ASMR shiz down to a T! Awesome work 👏🏻
Terrific job, You took what was a great product and revived itto new again. The love and care you put into your work is reflected in the final outcome.
I have had a Zippo for nearly 40 years now, from the ship I served on in the Navy, and it's still in superb shape!
Something I know about D-Day is that they had specialized tanks that could act like boats. They added some floatation devices to the sides of the takes to help make them more floatable and added mechanical rudders to the back to steer it. While it may not have been adopted in sea warfare unfortunately, it is still an interesting fact, and the reason why there are actually quite a few tanks under the water at Normandy Besch
The sea was too choppy for the tanks and the water simply washed over the canvas skirts. Most of them were lost, along with their crews.
Sherman DD was the designated name for those tanks
While tanks may not have been used, the US military did have a vehicle called an Amtrack or AAV ( Amphibious Assault Vehicle)
@@Dfitch1995 I wonder if that's the reason we have an Amtrak train line in California?
Yep, they dredged a few DD tanks up from the landing beaches and theres a few in a nearby private museum, (allegedly) the enclosed tanks were never opened as to not disturb the soldiers last resting place.
I have been on Juno Beach, the part of Normandy that Canada landed its troops on during D-Day, and it was a very moving experience. Quite the amazing battle and at the time, not altogether clear whether the beach-head on the continent was going to hold. Nice restoration!
I went there with my unit as a battlefield study. Gold and Omaha too. Hard to imagine how terrible it must have been
The video effects and ASMR 😍Thank you for this. It looks absolutely perfect!
Truly amazing! I could watch your restorations all day.
Its an IX date code so made in 1993. Very cool lighter.
Super boulot, comme d'habitude. C'est satisfaisant de voir le résultat final. Merci pour tes vidéos.
Beautiful commemorative piece of History. Thank You
I was 17 years afterwards but later on in life I became a soldier of 22 years. I met a few of those honorable men and I respect them for their sacrifices. That would have been a lighter to have owned.
On the lighter it reads "D-Day 50 anniversary", so that makes it 1994
1994 was nearly 30 years ago. That lighter is an antique on it's own.
@@soupwizard To be exact, 29 years in June. Considering that an item must be 50 years old (100years old in most cases) to be considered an antiquity, this would be a vintage piece, at best, being very generous. Good restoration tho.
6:55 Fellow MCM Watcher 😉
Excellent close up shots. Nice capturing the plumes of smoke.
As always awesome! Love your longer videos especially with sandblasting. More needed. Thank you. Your attention to detail is always appreciated
Gorgeous restoration!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
Edit: btw, how’s your rust pile coming along?
Working on it!
Yes, that’s what I was wondering too!
Zippo landed for the second time in Normandy 💥
Another stunning restore Tysy, love how you bring history back to life.
So satisfying
So a 1994 Zippo? No need to do clickbait titles, your content is good enough
Legit remark about the content but it does not say that the lighter is from 1944 so no clickbait.
1993
@@bodibmf its clearly implied in the title and deliberately done
I guess a word was missing like "edition" or "commemorative ". I also assumed it was the actual year of the lighter vs just a special edition of the lighter. But in either way still a fantastic video. I don't think he meant it to be click bait. 🔥 👍
Clickbait is necessary to succeed on YT. All the top UA-camrs do it in some form. Eventually the algorithm will ruin you if you don’t. It’s a factually proven science no matter how much we might dislike it.
Great job always 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
As always great job ! Thanks Tysy, and bring another videos ! never stop !
I have my great grandfather's tiny USN zippo lighter he used while building the ALCAN highway in 1943 with the Seabees. It's in perfect condition. This video reminded me of it. Thanks.
How did that lighter get in that condition in just 29 years?
Fun fact: normandy was chosen for the invasion because it was the least fortified sea coast.
Less fun fact: it has also sentenced the entirety of Eastern-Europe to 45 years of Soviet occupation.
@@bara555 how is that?
If they didn't land, the soviets might have gone even further than they were and possibly get the whole of germany.
@@I_Hate_UA-cam. They considered landing at the Balkans, but decided not to, dooming everyone east of Germany. They failed half the continent.
@@bara555 wdym failed? Being under soviet control is not easy by any means, but failing them?
If i had to choose, i'd prefer to be under communism than fascism.
Or are you implying that communist countries are worse then fascist? The gulags were only in the ussr, and obly under stalin, btw.
Awesome! A new TySy is just what I needed today!
A real treasure and special keepsake. You have incredible patience for such a detailed and small project. That was so fun to watch!
1994 anniversary edition lighter. Clickbait.
Man, that lighter was in very nad shape for not even being 30 ._.
Worried it was faked. You don't get that kind of blue rust that easily over that timespan.
A fitting restoration to an Historical time. Salute.
At 4:40 am my time I get a wonderful notification that my favorite restoration artist has posted! Thank you so much for the awesome video!!
Don't say 1944 in the title if it is 1994
Generally curious, do you find items that look like this or create your own by placing them in a corrosive liquid
I think past ones have been real, but this has me worried he's started to follow the trend of faking the condition by artificially aging.
"I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill..." in restoration! Awesome ;)
My grandfather was there, he would have liked your video. Anyway, thanks for the content, or as he would have sad “Danke”
a 1994 zippo restoration
I hate the fact that this video editing is so annoying that you actually lose your focus on the actual repair because of the unnecessary motions and editing effect.
Makes me feel like I want stop the camera zooming movements by myself UGH
At the beginning of the video you asked if anybody knew anything about D-Day. My grandfather was in the first division US Army, he was the first Gunner on a mortar crew and first wave on Omaha Beach. So, yeah I know a little bit about D-Day. Now stick with me on this one, one of my customers, who has now passed away had a father that was in the first division that also went in on Omaha Beach. He himself fought with the first division during the Vietnam conflict and at some point in time had collected two of the lighters you just restored. I got one, his son got the other when he passed. It originally came with a display case and had a slightly different finish. But sir, you did a great job!
Really impressed by the photography beyond the restoration

We should make a rap song with Future for your theme song
Hey I have a old zippo lighter with rust and some missing parts do you think you could fix it?
Yay
The effort and work you put in to make these things beautiful again is amazing! It would have been a whole lot easier to just restore the shield and attach it to a new Zippo, but that wouldn't have been the same. Thank you for sharing these!
Ohh, this smoothly sounds. Perfect finish Tysy! 😊
quel plaisir d'avoir une bonne vidéo à regarder pendant mon temps de table. Great Job!!
Man I love your videos and video editing skills. This was a top restoration job. Oh the cinematics. The lighting. So fresh and relaxing.

outstanding bit of work sir
What a beautiful job!
Awesome job! Awesome shots!!! Congrats 👏
Just amazing... nice job.
I post this comment every time I watch a Zippo restoration.
The actual lighter insert is replaceable and can just be thrown away. It doesn't need to be 'restored.' Only the case.
Amazing restoration the BEST 👍👍👍
