In my zone, 6A, these plants are unlikely to bloom before our first frost, which is supposed to be around October 10. I did plant zinnias this week as they seem to grow fast, (they germinated in two days) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I planted cosmos in late May, and they still haven't bloomed.

Yeah I think anything under zone 7 it might be hard to get them going now but zinnias could still work since they do germinate awfully quick! My cosmos have been a bit slow but I have found once they do get going they catch up!
