    I assume these are retail prices? Canadian dollar? I'm NY jeweler. Per monks, ancient sanskrit; Padparadscha is cross of pink purple(ish) of lotus flower & Sunrise of Bengali bay. Over saturation is good indication of treated stone. Unfortunately all period examples are missing/stolen. But, My fav sapphire.

    I have a couple of yellow sapphires that are treated with beryllium. I usually try to buy unheated sapphire, but the only yellow I can find I like is Be treated. Yellow is my favorite color sapphire.

    CEYLON Sapphire is the same as Sri Lankan blue sapphire. Sri Lanka used to be called Ceylon in the '50s and '60s under British rule until an official name change in 1972 following independence in 1948, and Sri Lanka became a republic within the then British Commonwealth countries. To date, the traditional name "Ceylon Sapphire" is held as a source of identification for blue sapphires from Sri Lanka.
    The Padparadscha sapphires, too, are commonly found in Sri Lanka, especially the more orangey pink hues, and in recent years, this corundum has been found in Madagascar and Tanzania.

    So i have a HUGE question!!
    I have a purple stone from my great grandmas ring in which i have always thought it was amethyst. Its round cut, almost 1 carat, grade A purple stone, lavender with red reflexes.
    The red has always thrown me off. In which then i knew it wasnt amethyst.
    I took it to a jeweler and they took a look at it and thought it was fake. Its that crazy looking. It pretty much shifts to 3 different colors in different lighting.
    Under the scope is the craziest change. It turns to an intersting green. Not emerald. The only stone that does that is Alexandrite.
    When they tested the stone, is where the plot twists even more! Its pulling sapphire!!!
    Have you ever seen or heard or seen a sapphire with Alex characteristic?
    Do i have a rare stone??

    • @DominiqueFlux
      @DominiqueFlux  6 місяців тому

      There are color changing sapphires just like alexandrite so it's more then possible. They are hard to find so we don't really talk about them very much so you are very lucky if you have one!

    I love the presentation! Thank you. I had no idea white sapphire was even valuable. Perhaps your viewers would like to know Padparadscha sapphires are revered because they have the color of the sacred lotus. (Nelumbo Nucifera 'Speciosa’). The name comes from Sanskirt and translates loosely to “color of lotus.”

    If the 2.5ct “Not heat treated” blue sapphire would have been the same color as the 2.6ct “Heat treated” sapphire, how much would it have increased in price? Also, the blue sapphires over 3ct, were those heat treated or not heat treated?
    I’m also curious to know how price increases when jewelry is made out of these stones…ex. Heated treated and not heated treated in a platinum ring setting vs white gold/yellow gold setting + diamonds, etc. I’d love to see a video talking about that. Great video!

      @@DominiqueFlux do you see a lot in the trade? i was told they were rare because they have no impurities....not to say that equals expensive. I have an 11carat one but never could tell what it was worth price per carat
