Sapphires come in many varieties of blue. The light blue sapphire I have catches the light and sparkles like no tomorrow. It certainly gets attention because of that but many folk aren't aware that sapphires can be light blue. One of the mist important thing with any gem is to keep it clean! Polish it every day, a soft toothbrush with ammonia if they're really dirty - but keep them shiny and enjoy that sparkle!
FYI For breath test make sure your stone is really clean! Any oils from touching the stone can cause the fog to disappear much slower than if the stone is clean of all oils and grime! 💎
@@imeldadavin3478 He's telling the truth. One purpose if a cut gem is how it catches the light and sparkles! And talk about an attention grabber? That's the beauty of any gemstone but it won't happen if they're not clean. They should be polished every day.

Yes, I agree. I have a diamond ring found flattened and traffic worn in a south bound highway lane. The ring itself had been hit by tires numerous times, the band's setting crown somehow remained vertical, and the stone did not break. The stone was taken to a jeweler. His assistant walked it to the back to show him. Returning immediately with the declaration "I sorry, it is a synthetic, but would you like to sell it for $20.00? I still have it. If it is a synthetic, it is one like I've never encountered before? Traffic, the tires of transportation, at high speed, and more than most industrially under load mind you would have hammered the stone to dust 'if' it was a synthetic? But survived being run over countless times.

Should I change colors without sacrificing size..I like natural no lab created.just me being picky I'm wearing it.My preference
Such utter nonsense. He who does not break things to understand what they are has nothing more than a surface understanding of that which they wish to know more about.
Bring it to a Jeweler and have them look under a microscope in front on you. Most have a little screen for the customer to look at. They always look at it at the main counter. I always tip because I never get charged. Best wishes..
yeah so which stones are lab, which are natural, which are other dyed material.. which are heat-treated..... I thought that is why we were watching this......
Watch crystals come in plastic, glass and sapphire. If you buy a sapphire crystal off fleabay you will likely get glass. Good quality watches usually have sapphire, but there are exceptions Seiko often uses what they call Hardlex, which is a hardened glass, not a sapphire. They use those in some watches ta are kind of pricey, but a sapphire will scratch them.
I wish you could've gotten a little more in depth with your video, that said it gave me a MUCH better feeling should I ever have the wherewithal to buy a sapphire.
You forgot another accurate way to tell what it is. You can buy a gem testing machine. Such as the Gem-eye 1 (and other such specialty machines). Even a basic diamond tester machine will accurately tell you if the stone you have is a ruby/sapphire, quartz, or a piece of glass.
I have a question: why do the blue sapphires in fine jewellery always look so dark? Aren't lighter blue sapphires available? I once saw a huge blue stone (not sure what it was) but it was midway between what I think of as dark sapphire blue (the blue of Princess Diana/Kate Middleton's engagement ring sapphire) and blue topaz, more of a swimming pool blue. It was absolutely gorgeous but why does this colour seem so rare?
Hi Gled, blue is a darker color that is closer to Black than lighter shades like yellow and green. A few sapphires do have both Rich color and brightness. I clean my stones diamonds, sapphires, rubies with hand sanitiser it's 70% and at the moment very very cheap it was a £1 bottle is now 10p or to clean dirty jewellery use pure washing up, liquid in a small bowl or dish for a day or so, then rinse off with warm water and you can still use the washing up liquid oon your knifes, plates, spoons and cups. So there is no problems later that the ring's or pendant that's cleaned are your rightful properties in karat impression on rings and stones in other jewellery pieces. By getting these staff to confirm that the genuine articles. Also because I have had this happen to me with my 1.25 ct Brazilian paribra stone had it validated has a paribra price at amazing $18,000 US in 18k yellow gold. I have heard other stories of jewellers swapping out cubic zirconias for diamonds and silver with gold plated that happened to my mother she didn't do any of this. And have them weigh it, that way, you and the staff can say something if it comes up a bit shy of your weight then the staff who have weighted it for you or doesn't feel right you can take pictures on your phone before you hand over your jewellery then you can complain about it .
