If they updated this 14" to have the same mini-LED as their 16" I'd buy the 14" in a heartbeat. Acer Triton 14, Lenovo Pro 9i, Asus G14 all have 14" with mini-LEDs, step it up Razer!

agreed, they should have the mini LED option but I must admit, the screen they used is still a fantastic panel and a massive upgrade to my previous blade 14

@@MashITTechI just sold my 14 since i decided to go with the 16" 4080. I've previously used your ThrottleStop videos to undervolt various laptops (not the 14, of course).
I'm wondering if you've heard anything about Razer locking the 16" with the most recent Bios update. ThrottleStop no longer saves the undervolt settings.
I'm not sure if you still have the Razer 16 you reviewed, but if so, have you found a workaround?
      Thanks!

The main reason, at least in my honest opinion, that Razer created a blade chassis that provides 140W but can’t use it has got to be because they developed it before they had the actual die in their hands to test. They assumed, which they rightfully should have seeing as how more watts has usually resulted in more performance, that the 4070 die would perform better at higher wattage. When they got their hands on it, they unfortunately realized that wasn’t the case but had already spent the money developing and manufacturing the chassis for the laptop. The 4080 die is almost 30% larger by size than the 4070, so there was no hope in shoehorning it in there last second. They would’ve been forced to go back to the drawing board and they just couldn’t justify doing that at such a staggering loss. That’s the only logical explanation for that happening. They were very obviously going for the competitions jugular with that 140W capacity, but NVIDIA must have left out the memo that the 4070 would hard cap around 90W.

As much as that is a shame. Having thermal headroom in a laptop, whilst running AAA games with smooth framerates, to me, is worth a lot.

If I have to guess, the reason behind the 1 cm more depth is that only this way can Razer put the changeable RAM sockets to the motherboard. If they make the chassis depth 1 cm thinner, there would be no room for the RAM sockets between the massive VC heatsink and the battery.

    Razer makes a quality product.
I got a 15" Advanced model about a year ago and I am very happy with it.
I felt a bit jelous when I saw the new 4080, but I got over it easily. I actually prefer the older model of screen because it is not a LED.
These are quality machines that will last. Expensive, but worth it.
    Congrats on the new 14"!

    Great video.
I was wondering if you can help me deciding on getting the 4060 or 4070, the difference is $400 , so is quite significant.
Let me explain you my situation, I'm going to start working and I want a computer to play games and learn programming, so I will buy the laptop in 5-6 months probably, I'm trying to decide if I should buy a laptop or desktop, the desktop would be more powerful but I have to buy a monitor, if I go with the Razer I just need to buy a keyboard and mouse (if I need or want) also I can use it wherever I want and the performance I think it's enough for me.
Do you think that working a good amount of hours in a laptop is possible without damaging it too much? I have think if a laptop is a good choice for work and study...

Will be using this as a desktop replacement and as a daily driver. For my needs and uses as i work remote and will be traveling a lot, laptops just make more sense. I recently bought the same laptop along with with same updates you have, pretty beasty of a machine except for 2 things. 1 the speakers are pretty bad compared to anything else, including my 2017 blade 13.5. .... 2. i have the chroma x external gpu cause i run 4 monitors (vms and stuff) , which is "compatible with the 2023 blade 14" but reality its been really unstable. I think its a power draw issue though. Would you have any tips on this setup?

I just want hoping that the Blade 14 had 2 M.2 slots like the Blade 16 with limited single sided chip only. It turns out, impossible over space limitation, unless redesign the Blade 14, just like how ASUS managed the Rog M16 & G16 with 3 blade fan & RAM Upgrades. Looks like I will have a next year version for improved design, upgradibility & software features.

Are you sure about the battery life being lower than the 2022 model? Many other reviews said it's actually slightly better than the 2022 one.
What tests did you do? 3 hrs diff is quite a lot

    • @MashITTech

the way I always test battery life is UA-cam streaming at 200nits of brightness over wifi and I use the laptops speakers at about 50%. Where have you seen anyone get better battery life than the 2022? I would love to take a look. the 2022 was a battery monster with the right settings, I haven't been able to achieve the same with this model. Also, have used this heavily over the course of 2 months, so this isn't just a single battery run to get the times, I have repeated the test and changed many settings to get decent life. If I can improve it in the future I will let you know

Mine has been holding really well with my 3 cam 4k video editing in Davinci Resolve Studio! Love the fact I can now have 64gb in here as opposed to last year! I have the 14, 15 and 16 blades and personally I would take the blade 14 every time for the following reasons..the fans kick up way less in desktop use, the blade 15 and 16 fans go nuts just installing the odd program or even opening resolve. I take it everywhere so portability is key, I have a 4k monitor in the office and a 4k at home and just plug into either when editing. The efficiency is amazing and very often I just use the 100w PD on my monitor, I don't even plug my 230w PSU in! Obviously the 15 and 16 have bigger screens if you plan on working on the laptop more than externals and they also get 2x ssd slots instead of 1

I didn't buy this years 15 for review as other than the internals there is no changes. Of the two, the blade 15 is obviously bigger and heavier with bigger screen and 2 ssds. The biggest gripes I have with the 15 is, the screens are all low brightness. my 15's are only 300nit on the 1080p 360hz and 1440p 240hz, the blade 14 is over 500nit and is also 16:10 which I prefer. Also the 15" being intel means lots of fan noise when doing very little, the fans often ramp up with very low CPU usage unlike the Ryzen which is more efficient and therefore quieter on low load. On gaming load both are similar. The 14 is much much more portable meaning I am more likely to bring it with me and has much better battery life. As a secondary machine like you want I think the 14" makes more sense. Hope this helps and ask away if you have more questions

    • @MashITTech
      @MashITTech  9 місяців тому

it has to be one of the hardest decisions to make! the 4080 is a massive upgrade from a 4060 or 4070 and I can see that's a big factor, if they made a 4080 blade 14 then I think that with an external display would be the ultimate option! when I game on the 18 of an evening, I don't even bother with an external display but as much as I love the 18, I wouldn't want to be carrying it with me for work everyday (I am often on clients sites etc so the portability of the 14 is paramount to me)

    • @cutthat4643

I just don't like machines that run red hot. My wife's MacBook Air 15 runs completely silent (doesn't even have a fan), is great for editing video, and runs just as fast on battery as it does when plugged in. Oh - and the battery lasts forever! If the MacBook Air 15 ran Linux natively, I'd probably grab one.

@@T.R.A.N.C.E I know what you mean, but have you seen a typical "enterprise" lately? Most places I've worked at, the choice is a MacBook. The die-hard corporates (like big pharma) still need domain controllers and employees with ThinkPads, but everywhere else I go I just see Macbooks on desks. I played about 85 hours of Starfield on it. I now have a 16" 4080. 😂
At ultra settings with 100% render I average mid-30 to mid-40 FPS. The problem with Fallout in Space is Bethesda didn't include DLSS options (they're supposedly working on it).
If you want over 60 FPS on Starfield with a 4070 you'll either need to download the buggy DLSS mod from Nexus or turn the settings down to medium with 75% render.

Seems like a very biased review based on the comment replies always justifying it. There are better 14” computers and cheaper prices. This is the “Mac” of gaming. It's aluminum, it’s milled, it’s clean and seamless but it’s not the best for what you spend. It’s for gamers who think like Mac owners, I know, in a Mac owner looking for a gaming PC too.
