The main reason, at least in my honest opinion, that Razer created a blade chassis that provides 140W but can’t use it has got to be because they developed it before they had the actual die in their hands to test. They assumed, which they rightfully should have seeing as how more watts has usually resulted in more performance, that the 4070 die would perform better at higher wattage. When they got their hands on it, they unfortunately realized that wasn’t the case but had already spent the money developing and manufacturing the chassis for the laptop. Also, have used this heavily over the course of 2 months, so this isn't just a single battery run to get the times, I have repeated the test and changed many settings to get decent life. @MashITTech Thanks for answering. Check out the video from Jarrod'sTech named "FINALLY, the RTX 4070 Makes Sense! Razer Blade 14 (2023) Review" He shows battery life benchmarks at 7:56 and it shows better runtime compared to 2022. Also check out the video review from Hardware Canucks at 7:54 it shows 2023 better than 2022.
I would love to be able to answer this but it is an unknown at this point. I do hope that the improved thermals will keep the battery cooler which I believe is one of the biggest factors to battery bloat (and why you hear much less moaning about the blade 17 and 18 which has fan in battery)
@@MashITTech Honestly I don't know if it's actually a common issue or if it only appears as a common issue because people who get these problems go to the same forums or subreddits to complain.
I really don't understand why they put such crazy screens on the 14 inch. 1080p 120hz would be more than good enough. You really can't game for long periods hunched over on a 14 inch, surely most users will actually use an external screen most of the time.
Hey mate, great review!!! How is this laptop like for video editing? Im debating on getting the 4070 version of this or the 4070 version of the new razer blade 15!!! Im mainly concerned about the expandable storage and how they perform for video editing!!! What would u recommend me? The 14 or 15?
Mine has been holding really well with my 3 cam 4k video editing in Davinci Resolve Studio! Love the fact I can now have 64gb in here as opposed to last year! I have the 14, 15 and 16 blades and personally I would take the blade 14 every time for the following reasons..the fans kick up way less in desktop use, the blade 15 and 16 fans go nuts just installing the odd program or even opening resolve. I take it everywhere so portability is key, I have a 4k monitor in the office and a 4k at home and just plug into either when editing. The efficiency is amazing and very often I just use the 100w PD on my monitor, I don't even plug my 230w PSU in! Obviously the 15 and 16 have bigger screens if you plan on working on the laptop more than externals and they also get 2x ssd slots instead of 1
I'm a ex-user of Razer Blade 14 i7, in Nov 2023 I buy a $ 1600 Asus 14X i9 32GB 14.5" 120Hz 16:10 OLED 3050 RTX and i love it, 5 hours battery and a lot smaller and light. I'm still keeping my Razer Raptor 27" 144Hz :)
very nice review. I'm currently using the razer 15 2020 and having the debate of buying the new 15 or 14 for my daily work (and minor gaming). I think your video helped me made my decision of buying the 14. Thank you!
me too i thought the 2021 blade 14 had great build quality but the battery bloated so i returned it but apparently they fixed that issue. the build quality is the really good
I think if your software can’t be used on Mac as well (games, 3D software etc.) then this is great choice. For normal daily work though the new MacBooks are unbeatable, way better built, insane efficiency and battery, accurate screen, silent and cool, powerful. Still pricey and if you can’t use Mac OS then it’s not for you.
If I have a razer 14 from the UK can I just buy a power cable that's 10A and 250V to change it and have a different type of cable when visiting the US and not having to use an adapter?
correct, the PSU can accept current from any country with the relevant plug. You can even use a travel adapter if you don't have the lead (ie you may frequently travel to different countries so don't have the power lead for each country just get a multi plug power adapter)
Excellent video as always I am shocked. You don’t have more subscribers. You certainly deserve them! I have no doubt that the razor blade 14 has a fantastic build quality. It is hard justifying it considering I could get a G14 with a 4080 for a similar price the 4080 offers substantially better performance which matters a lot especially if you plan to keep your laptop for the next 3 to 4 years. Any thoughts?
Thank you mate, I keep slogging along hope to get more :) I agree you get a lot more value with the asus (unless you live in the UK as Asus prices are horrific here) I was slightly put off by Asus G14 a couple of years ago when the laptop I was reviewing didn't even last long enough to complete the review but that was probably pure bad luck on my part
@@MashITTech thank you for your response! I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s definitely a strike against the G 14 if it doesn’t hold up. Are you still using your razor blade 14 as your primary laptop if you do, how has it held up and, would you recommend others buy it today?
@@oriontechtips1980 I use both my Blade 14 and Blade 18. The blade 14 I use for my day to day work and light gaming on the go and the blade 18 I use for heavy gaming. It's not that blade 14 couldn't do the heavy gaming I just love the 18" screen when away from my 32" 4k mini LED. The blade 14 has held up amazingly as did the 2021 I was using before the upgrade. I love the portability and feel of the unit, the screen is bright, clear and fast and the ports are pretty good for the size of teh unit but I wish it had an SDcard slot like the 16/18 as I do edit on mine. thanks so much for the picture. That is the same charger than me and although a newer revision than a 2022 is still exactly the same size and weight which is why I believe it is not a GAN like the newer 280w and 330w GAN chargers they also make
surprisingly no! I have had no issues on this 14" but I just got the blade 18 which has a stupidly big touchpad and I am getting terrible issues with failed rejection, especially whilst gaming
Thank you for the update and review. Very tempted to pick up a 14 with a 4070, but I've also been eyeing the blade 15 w/ 4070. Not seeing really any reviews on that and with the $100 difference it would be great to see how those 2 compare. I have a desktop as my primary, just need something for on the go, which is why im stsrting to lean towards the 14.
glad to be able to help. And I can try and help you with your dilemma, I have the 2021 blade 14 and 15, 2022 blade 15 and 2023 blade 14. I didn't buy this years 15 for review as other than the internals there is no changes. Of the two, the blade 15 is obviously bigger and heavier with bigger screen and 2 ssds. The biggest gripes I have with the 15 is, the screens are all low brightness. my 15's are only 300nit on the 1080p 360hz and 1440p 240hz, the blade 14 is over 500nit and is also 16:10 which I prefer. Also the 15" being intel means lots of fan noise when doing very little, the fans often ramp up with very low CPU usage unlike the Ryzen which is more efficient and therefore quieter on low load. On gaming load both are similar. The 14 is much much more portable meaning I am more likely to bring it with me and has much better battery life. As a secondary machine like you want I think the 14" makes more sense. Hope this helps and ask away if you have more questions
@@MashITTech I would say longer battery life, less fan noise, and just overall more efficient thermal management is pretty important to me in a laptop. If Razer wasn't able to make any improvements in these areas with this years Blade 15 w/ 4070 compared to last years, then it sounds like the 14 is the best choice for me. Thank you for the additional info. Really helped lock in my decision.
@@MashITTech Thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it. I've checked a bunch of reviews but your videos finally convinced me to get this model. I'm getting one soon. Cheers.

Did you exchange your Blade 16 for the Mercury Edition? That's the one I have. I have an X16 too. Can't beat either of those laptops for 2023. IMO if AW adds a Mini LED screen to the X16 R2 it will be the clear winner imo.

the 3080ti is still a great card and you can get last year's model heavily discounted (at least in the UK) but the problem for me was the maximum of 16gb soldered ram and the 300nit screen. Battery life was better for me though
Hey MashIT, I’m looking to purchase this exact device as it can now be found for about £1799. Would you still recommend this version and what was the battery life you experienced after a while? Love your videos!
thank you mate. 1799 is a good price and well worth it! this years model is exactly the same, and just renamed the cpu! I still love mine and use it all the time. to be honest I havent left track of the battery life as I rarely use it for more than a couple of hours on battery. @@MashITTechThanks for getting back to me buddy. Great to hear you think it’s worth it and that you still love this machine. Razer Blade 14 as I use it for work and play as it is sop easy to travel with but I love the 18 if I am just spending an evening gaming. The 16 never gets used :(
@MashITTech interesting poor 16 never used, I have a rb14 and love it but I want a 4080 so I'm thinking to get an 18 or 16 I'm thinking 18 for temps and speakers, I have an alienware oled ultrawide so don't care about screen as much
it has to be one of the hardest decisions to make! the 4080 is a massive upgrade from a 4060 or 4070 and I can see that's a big factor, if they made a 4080 blade 14 then I think that with an external display would be the ultimate option! when I game on the 18 of an evening, I don't even bother with an external display but as much as I love the 18, I wouldn't want to be carrying it with me for work everyday (I am often on clients sites etc so the portability of the 14 is paramount to me)
I just don't like machines that run red hot. My wife's MacBook Air 15 runs completely silent (doesn't even have a fan), is great for editing video, and runs just as fast on battery as it does when plugged in. Oh - and the battery lasts forever! If the MacBook Air 15 ran Linux natively, I'd probably grab one.
that was one of the things I disliked about my previous blade 14, that was like a furnace. This one is much better but obviously runs much hotter than a apple silicon MBP :)
Apple silicon is a game changer for personal computing, other than gaming and enterprise use, we will continue to use our spicy hot Windows laptop's because they can run games and enterprise apps.
@@T.R.A.N.C.E I know what you mean, but have you seen a typical "enterprise" lately? Most places I've worked at, the choice is a MacBook. Hell, even all my sys-admin friends ditched theirThinkPads (running Linux) for MacBooks! I know it's anecdotal, but it's just what I've observed over the last decade.
I can confirm this for academia as well (at least at college level). Everyone drags their Macbook pros to and from office using Microsoft 365 apps in-browser, while IT-provided HP Elitebooks sit around collecting dust. Students are all on Airs or Pros too.@@MnemonicCarrier
its great but too overpriced. youll get the similar Asus G14 for half the price during sales. and that one did better in battery and even has options for a fake 4090 option.

I played about 85 hours of Starfield on it. I now have a 16" 4080. 😂 At ultra settings with 100% render I average mid-30 to mid-40 FPS. The problem with Fallout in Space is Bethesda didn't include DLSS options (they're supposedly working on it). If you want over 60 FPS on Starfield with a 4070 you'll either need to download the buggy DLSS mod from Nexus or turn the settings down to medium with 75% render.

Where have you seen anyone get better battery life than the 2022? I would love to take a look. the 2022 was a battery monster with the right settings, I haven't been able to achieve the same with this model. Also, have used this heavily over the course of 2 months, so this isn't just a single battery run to get the times, I have repeated the test and changed many settings to get decent life. If I can improve it in the future I will let you know
@MashITTech Thanks for answering. Check out the video from Jarrod'sTech named "FINALLY, the RTX 4070 Makes Sense! Razer Blade 14 (2023) Review"
He shows battery life benchmarks at 7:56 and it shows better runtime compared to 2022.
Also check out the video review from Hardware Canucks at 7:54 it shows 2023 better than 2022.
Do you think battery bloating is still a concern on this year's model? I've seen models from 2021 bloating with many people.
Nah it’s specs are perfect
because I use this for work as well as gaming, the 1600p screen is a must for me.
Thank you!
How does the build quality compare to the MacBook Pro M1 which is what I have currently. I am thinking of replacing it with the Razer blade 14"
me too i thought the 2021 blade 14 had great build quality but the battery bloated so i returned it but apparently they fixed that issue. the build quality is the really good
@@Tennis-Analysis2024 thanks man. I ended up getting the Surface studio pro 2. So far I really like but I do mis my M1.
@@cristians2122 surface studio pro 2 is a really solid laptop too. You'll love the force touch trackpad!!
Hi, what is the lowest speed of the fans, can they be regulated manually? Thank you.
I am having zephyrus g14 4060 2023 model at 1200 dollars and blade 14 2023 model at 1900 dollars what should i buy
My heart says blade 14 as I much prefer it but I can't deny the price difference and you may want to vote with your wallet
Thank you bruh I am gng to take blade 14 ...
What is the better option for 3d animation in Blender, RTX3080 Ti with 16GB of VRAM or RTX4070 with 8GB of VRAM?
I think if your software can’t be used on Mac as well (games, 3D software etc.) then this is great choice. For normal daily work though the new MacBooks are unbeatable, way better built, insane efficiency and battery, accurate screen, silent and cool, powerful. Still pricey and if you can’t use Mac OS then it’s not for you.
Did you end up putting a screen protector?
I upgraded mine with 64gb fury and a WD850x 4tb ssd and it flies. Really love it. Only last thing I would like to see improved is better speakers but that is me being picky
I'm like 99% sure that the power adapter that comes with the blade 14 is actually a 230 Watt GaN charger at least my model was, I bought mine in the US
I will double check mine but I am 99% sure mine was exactly the same 230w PSU I have had with the last few years Razer Blade 15s. If you get a chance can you get me a part number from yours so we can compare?

thanks so much for the picture. That is the same charger than me and although a newer revision than a 2022 is still exactly the same size and weight which is why I believe it is not a GAN like the newer 280w and 330w GAN chargers they also make
@@MashITTech I thought it was the same. Thanks for the clarification. I learned something new today. :)
Is the trackpad too big? Any problems typing with failed palm rejection?
surprisingly no! I have had no issues on this 14" but I just got the blade 18 which has a stupidly big touchpad and I am getting terrible issues with failed rejection, especially whilst gaming
How would you compare this to 2023 Alienware X14?
sorry, stupid dell won't sell the x14 r2 in the UK so I cannot review it :(
Maybe I can buy it and ship it to you. @@MashITTech 😆
@@pjango haha if only shipping wasn't so expensive!
Great review! Is it possible to connect two monitors via the USB-C port? Is there any way to connect two external Monitors to Blade 14? Thanks.
I haven't tried 2 usbc at once but I have done a usbc and HDMI at the same time. I will try and grab another USBC monitor to test for you
@@MashITTech Thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it. I've checked a bunch of reviews but your videos finally convinced me to get this model. I'm getting one soon. Cheers.
@@lonewolf-T-You probably have figured this out by now, but users can run two monitors via one USB4 port. I accomplish this by connecting my RB14 to a Dell thunderbolt docking station.

Did you exchange your Blade 16 for the Mercury Edition? That's the one I have. I have an X16 too. Can't beat either of those laptops for 2023. IMO if AW adds a Mini LED screen to the X16 R2 it will be the clear winner imo.
no, I still have the black blade 16. I did just get the mercury Blade 18 for review which will be coming soon :)
ah ok. I saw the Mercury and just automatically assumed it was the 16 lol. Love the Mercury Editions of these Blade laptops. @@MashITTech
anyone know if the d brand skin for the 2024 14 will fit on a 2017 model? d brand doesnt have any on website for older models anymore.
sadly it will not fit. The 2023 and 2024 have a new shape, they are deeper due to the new 16:10 panel and also narrower and thicker
Eye watering $2400. Think twice.
not going to lie, razer pricing is crazy 🤣 though, for my use I would rather this than a 14" MacBook Pro!
Worth it
now it’s 1899 if u use their gift card method and their sale rn
@@Tennis-Analysis2024what is the gift card method?
Mine was 1999
Everytime I see these 14 inch laptops I think they look cool and want one, but i always feel like for the price I might as well bump up to a larger size
that's very true and you get more value for money with the larger sizes but for me where I take it everywhere I just love the 14" form factor
Could you add keyboard temperature, that is very important for using laptop.
keyboard temps at 00:12:55 👍 the good news is, the keyboard is so so much cooler than the 2021 and 2022 blade 14's
Great review. I'm between the 14 and last year 22 for 3080ti.
the 3080ti is still a great card and you can get last year's model heavily discounted (at least in the UK) but the problem for me was the maximum of 16gb soldered ram and the 300nit screen. Battery life was better for me though
@@MashITTech I am was looking 32 but soldered in case I want to upgrade.. Subbing to your channel. Cheers
thanks mate. Yeah, I put 64gb in mine as I run a lot of ram heavy apps but the least I would want is 32gb in 2023
Hey MashIT, I’m looking to purchase this exact device as it can now be found for about £1799.
It works so well on PD I mostly use it plugged into my monitor with 100w PD and don't even use the 230w psu!
@@MashITTechThanks for getting back to me buddy. Great to hear you think it’s worth it and that you still love this machine. Good to hear the 100w PD is working well too as I’d prefer to use a similar set up with my Dell PD monitor. Honestly I watch all your videos and I truly appreciate you replying. Have a great rest of the evening 😊
thank you mate, sorry was filming all last night so just saw your response. Glad you enjoy the videos :)
@@MashITTechDon’t be silly! I should be thanking you for helping me out. ☺️
which do you use mor enow, the RB14 or RB 18??
Razer Blade 14 as I use it for work and play as it is sop easy to travel with but I love the 18 if I am just spending an evening gaming. The 16 never gets used :(
@MashITTech interesting poor 16 never used, I have a rb14 and love it but I want a 4080 so I'm thinking to get an 18 or 16 I'm thinking 18 for temps and speakers, I have an alienware oled ultrawide so don't care about screen as much
it has to be one of the hardest decisions to make! the 4080 is a massive upgrade from a 4060 or 4070 and I can see that's a big factor, if they made a 4080 blade 14 then I think that with an external display would be the ultimate option! when I game on the 18 of an evening, I don't even bother with an external display but as much as I love the 18, I wouldn't want to be carrying it with me for work everyday (I am often on clients sites etc so the portability of the 14 is paramount to me)
@MashITTech they could put a 115watt 4080 into a rb14, that would be ideal
The die-hard corporates (like big pharma) still need domain controllers and employees with ThinkPads, but everywhere else I go I just see Macbooks on desks.
Does it feels hot to the touch?
Not on the keyboard and palm rest but there is some heat at the exhaust vents as you would expect. It has been comfortable to game on
@@MashITTech it seems like razer has fixed the heat issue from 2022 model. Nice
its great but too overpriced. youll get the similar Asus G14 for half the price during sales. and that one did better in battery and even has options for a fake 4090 option.
Very detailed video, nice work!

I am nah about the ryzen but literally its only because the only one ive ever used was my mahs and she paid like $300 dollars for it in 2015 and it still runs because I'm on call about it. lol.
Has Razer resolved their quality control issues or is getting a good product still a lottery?
Another thing they should have brought back either for the 14 or 15 another OLED option! Only one year for a OLED screen such a waste!

Should have added the camera shutter to the other Razer Blade laptops also!
agreed
Think they should take some design aspects from Lenovo legion buy putting a camera shutter similar to the one on the Legion Slim 7 they could gain a thinner bezel and more screen real estate.@@MashITTechThe Legion Slim 14 inch model has a webcam shutter and its bezels are thinner than the Razer Blade 14 because Legion gives it a little hump, I guess that's what you would call it, for the camera and it makes it easier to open with one hand. How Starfield run on it ? 4070 laptop
I played about 85 hours of Starfield on it. I now have a 16" 4080. 😂
At ultra settings with 100% render I average mid-30 to mid-40 FPS. The problem with Fallout in Space is Bethesda didn't include DLSS options (they're supposedly working on it).
If you want over 60 FPS on Starfield with a 4070 you'll either need to download the buggy DLSS mod from Nexus or turn the settings down to medium with 75% render.
Still wait for the Razer Blade 18 Review
working on that atm
Absolutely despise my 2021 Razer Blade Advanced. Atrocious battery life (less than 3 hours of document editing on Battery Saver), faulty RTX 3070 leading to a complete inability to game straight out of the box, and Razer Support straight up refusing to RMA it. I promised myself I would never again give them a single cent again.

@@MashITTech Yes I looked on Dbrand for black matte skin with logo covered. I just don't know Razer well if the logo light will green lights under the skin and be kind of visible in the dark. I don't reaaaally need a graphic card that efficient, a 4050 or even the integrated gpu is fine for me so put 2k-3k$ on a PC broke my heart. I want a Razer just because I love their look 😂
well you can turn the light off completely, so with light off and Dbrand skin it would be great! They have just started reducing the price of the 2023 version and as 2024 is only a refresh (8000 Ryzen is rebranded 7000 series and you also have the same gfx) I would definitely pick up a reduced 23 model
