That is a strategically placed Pole that the guy put there that when he's done he removes it and put it back in the garage. Then when he needs it again he puts it back. TheRantingCabby but their “robomower” can cut all yards, not just circles. And they’re silent. And you never have to recharge/refuel them because they drive into their charging port.

    • @Cragified
      @Cragified 6 років тому +3

      That and the robomower isn't going to take off and damage something if the rope breaks like this would. Only way this works is tying down both the engine and drive safeties. Plus, if you aren't paying attention and it gets to the center the mower is going to be sitting there running with the drive wheels engaged which is neither good for it or the yard.

    Intelligent people tend to be a bit "lazy" when it comes to physical work, so they will use their intelligence to find ways to get the work done easier. If they have more money than time, they will just hire someone to do it. If they have more time than money, or are cheap bastards, they will find a way to do it themselves, but without doing much physical work. A few of these poles could get the majority of a yard done and the rest would be easy to knock out quick. Or you could do like I have planned, get rid of the yard.

    The math for this to work properly is quite impressive, the circumference of the pole and the string combined must be equal to the width of the deck of the mower. Thinking of it you really couldn't scale this up too much without your string bunching up and messing up your cut

    I did this as a kid but with a troybuilt rototiller. My dad told me I had to spring till the garden and we had about a half an acre. I really didn’t want to (no surprise). I dug a fence post hole and put a post in it. Tied a rope to the tiller and post and let it go. Rototiller wound up on the post just like I planned. About the time dad was getting home from work the tilling was almost complete and I’m sitting in a lawn chair watching it go. Through the was going to yell at me but he told me “worked smarter, not harder” and went in the house..

      Yeah, I much prefer a light mower to a self-propelled one. Much easier to do "detail" work with a lighter mower that it makes up for being more work to push.
      Besides, if you have a large enough yard where pushing a mower is a pain, make the step up to a riding mower already!

    Purpose crafted solution - I did this back in the early 80s, albeit with a 12hp Wheel Horse Garden tractor and a 50’ poplar tree - just had to lock the steering wheel at a slight angle so that the concentric circle would collapse. This was before they required the “empty seat” activated- kill switch. It was fun to do but after a few iterations, my dad said that if I was going to do this he’d dock my allowance lol... but got bonus $ for ingenuity
