Thanks for sharing your experience. They are simple and great filters. I often wonder why they aren’t more popular and widely sold in the US. 👌

@@nextdooraquatics5013 because the price of shipping to u.s. is ridiculous ontop of the price to purchase from europe. it’s way easier to buy second hand fluval-or catch them on sale somewhere..or buy broken and fix…believe me id love to have a 600 or a 1500 eheim over the fx4-fx5 anyday, i think. idk i’ve never laid my eyes on anything eheim branded-in the south eastern united states anyway

What is the gallon capacity of it's filtration and how much media ( kg ) it holds? I am trying to set up a only discus tank ( 120cm × 60cm × 65cm ) and trying to limit water change schedule by over filtration.

The filter media are cleans with aquarium water, not tap water

    • @nextdooraquatics5013

You can do it that way. You can clean your mechanical media under tap water. Do it all the time, no issues.

@@nextdooraquatics5013 No, you don't know what your tap water is. Besides, such water kills nitrifying bacteria

@@KrisInconspicuous tap water can kill some nitrifying bacteria, but the impact is small during short exposures. I have a video on this topic. There is nothing wrong with using tank water or dechlorinated water, but you certainly can clean media in tap water.

It never ceases to amaze me how people claim to know certain things are true through nothing other than hearsay.
In an established tank, cleaning your filter sponges with chlorinated tap water will not destroy your cycle or eliminate nitrifying bacteria completely.
A lot of it survives this process and on hardscape/surfaces within your tank.

They should re make this filter and just add a self priming feature then it would be perfect

The hoses have shutoffs that you can partially close to slow the flow.

Use the quick release valve to slow oit down on the outflow. Not inflow.
