LOL! The guy shouldn't use the gloves. C'mon... It's called MEDIA. The boy is right. The Eheim is the best filter IMO, but their customer service for the US isn't the best. You would need a bigger Eheim, though. I watched this video to see what would be like to have a canister for my new 210gal. I definitely won't have canister after this. A sump will be so much easier to clean in the regular basis. Thank you so much for the video. Hope you both will get married and be happy forever.
The hw5000 was sunsun's attempt at making a competitor for the fx6, it needs some work for sure, but considering the price there are probably plenty of people willing to save the money getting it and making some diy aftermarket upgrades and mods, while i dont personally have a hw5000 ive got. 402b and a hw3000, plus im about to mod one setup but adding a 604 prefilter canister so i can maximise media space for the 402b
Hello Julia and Andrew, great canister comparison video! I don't have a canister, but this really gives me a lot of information to go on if I get one in the future. Very well done, hope you're having a nice week! 🙂👍
The FX series of filters are the go to filter for most people as they have a great reputation for high output and reliability and now they have the FX2 as well, they have an FX that can fit in smaller cabinets for people with smaller tanks
🤔 I will often use the dirty water in filters to water my houseplants. I will squeeze off the filter sponges into a bucket of water and use that to water plants as well. Then I’ll use a garden hose to to rinse out the filter and wash off the sponges. At one point I had all SunSun filter and they definitely work and I really prefer their setup over that of the Fluval filters butvthe SunSun filters are poorly manufactured. Do now all my canister filters are Fluvals. If Fluval made their filters with the larger and deeper baskets like the SunSun I would really prefer that. The larger sponges would be able to collect more wise. As far as media I don’t use it in the FX6 or FX4 filters. I filled each basket with different ppi sponges. All media is utilized in my trickle filters where it is more beneficial as well as in the Smaller Fluval filters. And I only use Biohome or drinking water quality pumice. Good luck with your aquarium hobby and UA-cam channel.
The word medium has two plural forms-mediums and media-and which one you use depends on what you're talking about. If your subject is art, it's okay to use mediums or media. For science and communication, media is generally preferred.
wow 5 CANISTER FILTER cleaning at one 1 wow the fx4 was by far the and yes you have to drink the tank water thats the best warer you will ever get lol the sun sun wow that warer was black hehehe wow man that looks like it was never cleand for 50 years lol the liva rock was a good idea i thank the fx 4 but bad but the sunsun top was bad so i thank the sunsun wins
Well what an awesome Valentine’s Day for the two of you ❤❤🐠🐠😀😀 Great video guys…..we don’t like canisters and this video makes us not like them even more😆😆
Try the Eheim 1500XL. This filter would do a better job than all of these filters. Zero bypass, no costly made for filter pads or special media required, you can fill it with whatever you want and Eheim filters are quality made in Germany. My 1500XL has been running for over 10 years with ZERO issues. Even the rubber O-ring is the original it came with. I just make sure to clean and lubricate it after every cleaning with good old fashion vaseline. Take that Fluval and I won't even mention the cheap, Chinese made imposter, FX6 wannabe. Nuf said!
Great canister comparison video!! I agree with you that the SunSun does a superior job in removing the poop but who wants to deal with leaky valves all the time. Great job Julia and Andrew!!
Hi there just discovered your channel and subscribed to it ! Great video for someone like me looking to move from HOBs on my 55 gallon Mbuna tank. I'm on a budget so Sunsun fits the budget but would consider Fluval cannisters. What would you say is the minimum Fluval cannister filter i can get away with on my 55 gallon Mbuna tank ? Thanks so much for any thoughts
You want 3 kinds of filtration for your tank: Mechanical, Biological and chemical. Canister Filters are great for mechanical filteration, you want to turn over your tank water 3 to 5 times an hour, so you want a canister filter that can do 200-ish (or more) gallons per hour flow rate. Pick the canister filter that best suits your needs with that or higher flow rate. There are loads of videos explaining further benefits/functions of canister filters but the information I've provided is a good place to get started. Good luck!
Miss u Tommy... I bought sun sun hw 5000 after seeing your tanks. Hi julia,.... Need a favor to ask. Now my sunsun hw5000 stoped, i cant figure out is it a issue with controller or motor, could you please check and tell me does controller gives out display when not connected to canister ( motor and uv unplugged). I mean just controller pluged in to power socket switch ON and without connecting to filter will display light up and gives any warning. Because my controller is not showing any status in both connected and disconnected to fillter, i couldn't figure out is it controller issue or motor issue.
Hi Vijay, I don’t have any SunSun filters anymore. But I believe my dad had the same issue. The display and UV light stopped working, but the filter was still working. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
I have the same issues with my sunsunhw5000. The baskets assemble them before u put it in the canister. I have another issues where if the filter sponge where when eh sponge gets filled the filter basically doesn't work .
Sounds like fun.. Good test to see if your BF is a team player 😂 Shouldn't you be filming and Andrew filming Good lad Andrew.👍you helped up near the end. This is a 💩💩💩💩💩 video.. 😂🤣 Good job guys. I hate filter media cleaning... That's what washing machines are made for. The sunsun really collected a lot of waste. I am impressed except for the seals . Great reviews on them all. How long did it take for you guys to do? I always look forward to your videos and your sarcasm...
Thank you Chris!!! Cleaning the filters took 3 hours… plus we didn’t some other aquarium maintenance. We were working on the aquarium from 4pm to 10pm at night!!! Such a long day 🤣
My sunsun 3000 ... purchased from "Finest-Filters" ... failed in service due to weak O-ring seal ... ruining cabinet and ceiling below, I am currently in dispute for refund. Avoid both seller and product!
Not cleaning your filters for 7 months can cause major issues in your tank and kill off fish very easily from high nitrates and other things. This is pretty much from laziness. Fact!

Hey guys great video! I've never seen a dirtiest filter before. Good job showing differences between them. I think hw5000 is a monster 👌🏻

You probably can get away with a professional 3 ehiem or a filter of a similar size for a 50 gallon!
