I like that you painted the outlet and outlet cover instead of trying to match it with new (would never match). Love the wall it definitely looked easy enough.
Donnie, I listen to rain while I sleep but lately I’ve been falling asleep to DIY videos! I said all that to say this video was PERFECT ! Lol great job! 👍
Hey man! Thank you so MUCH!!! You should definitely build an accent wall... to be honest, I thought our wall looked good before with a mirror on it and then we did this and now I can't believe the transformation... so much better. You will be stoked! Oh, lol and thank you on the rain sounds too... my viewers were telling me that my music was awful, so I thought I would give this a try...
@@DesignsbyDonnie I have never done diy projcets and this is inspiring. Are those mdf panels? Can you share the size and what’s it called so I don’t mess up buying the wrong thing from HD. Any tips on how I can haul them in my small suv?
Nice. I’m going to try to do this myself and hope I’m not overwhelmed. I’m not a handy as you but I looked at another video and it seems possible. Thank you.
This looks great! Quick questions: 1. Our wall has some orange peel texture to it. Do you think we will need to cover that completely with a flat board? 2. How thick are the MDF board you used?
I was searching and searching for a process that didn't seem so hard. THANK YOU!!!! I feel more confident that I can do this now! But for those of us who aren't handy like this, I need to know more about the boards you used.
I really love this. Today Friday I finally had the guts to Attempt and make it for my sons room. However my 45• angles are just NOT coming out right. At this point I’m really having a melt down. I’m really trying I just don’t understand what I am doing wrong😫😫😫
Thank you for watching Stefany!! what a bummer that your having some trouble... use a speed square like I did in the video... the speed square is a perfect 90 degrees on one side and 45 degrees on the other. Align the speed square up with how you want the slats to go and every miter cut will be a 45 degree providing you aligned the speed square up. I hope that helps and let me know if I can help more.
Thinking of doing this in a rental. Im allowed to paint, and nail holes are easy to remove. How essential is the caulking to the appearance do you think?
Hi 👋 I used MDF to keep the cost low and so I wouldn’t have to worry about seasonal wood movement from solid wood. I bought a 4x8 sheet of mdf for $37 bucks and ripped two inch strips out of it on my table saw. The other way would be to buy primed mdf strips but it’s slightly more costly. Either way you can’t go wrong!
I'm a carpenter and it looks better if you remove that piece of baseboard and frame the entire wall. It's a more complete look especially considering the molding sticks out over the baseboard. Unless you like the contrast. Great results either way.
Thank you 🙌 I enjoyed this project so much! Only tip I have is probably obvious though but I placed painters tape inside covering the wire connectors and screws and everything else got sprayed. Turned out nice 👍
Thanks for watching brother! It’s was seriously a fun project! Having a great sprayer is awesome and I would definitely recommend it. It’s the Fuji Q5 👍 I was able to play with the pressure settings until it just right. Over spray was incredibly minimal. I have a link to it in my description and you can read all the literature and details about it to help with the keys points
It came out super nice! I’ll be doing something like that soon. What tip did you use on the sprayer? I just bought a Fuji Q5 n I need to start using it. Thanks man!
Thank you for watching brother! Oh yeah, you're gonna love that Q5 its legit... I used tip 1.8 so that I wouldn't have to thin the paint and I played with the pressure settings so that the over spray would be really minimal. Be sure to tag me when you complete your project as I definitely want to see it.
I did exactly the same. But during winters, all my joints where I filled the sparkling, cracks and they become visible, all due to contraction. Did I do something wrong?
This wall didn’t have any water lines but you don’t need to worry about water or electrical lines as long as you nail into studs only. Any where water lines or electrical are located, electricians nail a metal cover plate over them for protection. If you happen to mail into the metal place the mail just shoots back out and won’t penetrate it, thus protecting those important lines 👍
Yeah I agree with ya. I love this look but I did it a year ago but it’s really trendy now and it’s been done a bunch. Wait till you see my new wall that I’m working on… it’s insane and taking me forever. Guaranteed you’re gonna love it though, it’s legit and hasn’t been done before.
I like that you painted the outlet and outlet cover instead of trying to match it with new (would never match). Love the wall it definitely looked easy enough.
Thank you Eric! Yeah at first I tried to match them and it wasn’t happening, so I said “I got this” and painted them lol 😂 and looks great.

Great job. We’ve been thinking of adding accent walls to our home. Rain sounds was a good touch as well

Good job brother 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼what is to the color you use with this machine only oil base or both oil base and water base?
What size were the planks? Are they 2x2’s?

Absolutely gorgeous. I want a wall like that! Loved the rain storm in the background - good idea.
Well done really like it and no need to apologize for saying that
Thank you 🙏🏻 it was such a fun project! My wife is making me do all kinds of house stuff now lol 😂
I would added glue behind those boards before nailing them to the wall.
Normally I’d agree, but if you ever decide to change the design or sell the house and they need removal it would destroy the drywall behind it.

Did I miss where you talked about what type of wood you used ?
that's very cool! i didn't know you could spray the outlets to?
Looks great, can you share the measurement of those design please ?

Thanks for the simple explanation! Will be using your tips and tricks
Thank you and good luck... you got this!
Hello, what type of company or contractor would I look to hire in my area for this project??...great job
That came out AWESOME!! What type of material did you use for the strips ? I will be doing one soon and wasn't sure which to use.

Well done. I like this a lot. 👍🏾
Thank you so much! It was really fun and easy to do 👍
Donnie great video man! Love the idea of using a sprayer instead, would love to invest in one. Do you have any tips on which sprayer to purchase?

What was the color you guys used? I love it!
Just beautiful work guys.
Man that’s freakin awesome. Can you come and do a walk in my house?
what wood you use in this project. It seems easy to do.
What type of glue do you use for the mdf board instead of nails
I love that you clarified yourself about the Japanese joke for the woke mob😂👌🏽

How much would you charge to do a design like this?
A friend has asked and I have no clue how to price it.
I did exactly the same. But during winters, all my joints where I filled the sparkling, cracks and they become visible, all due to contraction. Did I do something wrong?
It came out great! The wife and I are trying it this weekend. Prayers. 😆
Absolutely love this
Nice build Donnie.
Easy, peasy, Japanese-y
I only heard this from brooks in The Shawshank Redemption.
What is the dimensions of the wood you used?
My walls have orange peel texture. Would it be okay doing this?
Yes it’s okay to do. I did it once and I was happy with the turn out.
Absolutely beautiful. You did an amazing job
How did u map out the electrical and water lines?

@@DesignsbyDonnie man definitely appreciate the info/reply! Great vid.
Awesome video thank you
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏻 I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Video Title: “How to Make an Accent Wall in Rental Home”
Landlords: WTF?! 🤬
Lol 😂 I hope you enjoyed the video! Easy yet fun weekend project.
How do you know where to caulk?
Just caulk every board where it meets the wall and any seems where two boards come together 👍
Great job
Does you wall have texture to it? If so, did you put any wood over it to make the wall have a flat look behind the strips?
How can we get in touch with your company!?
What is Wet Water?
Looks great, the only pain will be when you start using those plugs and the paint starts to chip off :(
really cool!
Our walls are textured - could we do this without smoothing out the walls?
how many wood pieces did you use and what is the wood called.
Look above and see the replies that he already answered. He has answered this question a few times now. Its is MDF - 2 in. strips
Will it mess up the entire Project if I dip my finger in Dry water?
What wood straps did you use?
Yea I’d like to know as well. I couldn’t find it listed anywhere lol.
what size nails did you use?
Is it raining?
Nice
what size boards did you use?
I cut 2” strips out of mdf
@@DesignsbyDonnie awesome! Thanks for the fast response I thought they were 1x2x8s just wanted to make sure! Thanks gonna give it a shot tomorrow
What kind wood panel ? Name
Great video either way.. Lol
I hope YOU enjoy this video! 🙏🏻 Comment and let me know what you think 🤔 it’s an easy DIY weekend project.
A cup of wet water huh? As opposed to dry water? 😂😂😂
💖💖
Blamed it on his wife 😂😂😂
Why is it raining
Lol 😂 i was trying to be tranquil but honestly a big mistake lol 😆
@@DesignsbyDonnie No....its was calming - way better than elevator music some people play.
“Accent wall in rental home”… blasts nails into rental home wall…
You’d be evicted for this in Aus without owner consent.
Yeah I’m sure that would happen in most situations but these landlords love me, I’m basically remodeling their home for free, lol
What's with the freaking water fall
The same accent wall idea is being replicated by so many people. What ever happened to original ideas?
Too much of this now...I've seen this exact wall on at least a dozen other channels.

The paint line on that baseboard is just... 🤮
Yeah I thought about painting the bottom to match the wall but I wimped out. Next time I for sure. 👍
