    Great videos I..I recently bought a regent myself..these mowers are built to last..you would think more people would have videos..but most people go to big box stores thinking they are buying quality..thanks for videos

    I watched your video on changing oil. How many ounces does the motor require to refill. You never mentioned how many ounces goes back into the mower. I was not able to find that anywhere online either. Just the type of oil to use. Thanks for all your help

    How do you like the cut? Do you have a flat yard? Your rollers are very low compared to mine. My yard is so uneven I don't get a chance to let the rollers down load to ride on the grass.

      I really like the cut for my yard. My yard is smooth but with many slopes. A conventional lawn tractor or zero turn scalps in many places. The Simplicity follows the terrain much better.

    Are you sure about putting that oil in it I never have I always used brings oil. Let me no what you think about it. I am trying to buy a new symplicty but can't find one. I have had my symplicty concord for 15yrs and am ready for a new one. Love these mowers. Good video thanks my friend

      After reading the manual, I determined the best fit for my climate was synthetic 10w-30. I’m comfortable using any synthetic 10w-30, but you should use what you are comfortable with.

    Before the underside of mowerdeck get rusty, maybe you could apply some epoxy paint or polyurethane paint. That stuff is like iron paint.

      I put on some non stick paint this winter. I have an update coming soon.

    What makes a 38in cut simplicity pedal drive no gears run slow but still pulls hills have put new drive belt on it. But still same.any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  3 роки тому +1

      Because you mentioned a new belt, it could be low tension causing the belt to slip. I would double check the tensioner assembly.
      If that checks out, it may be internal to the hydro. Low speed operation requires high pressure but a low flow rate of oil, high speed operation requires high pressure and a high flow rate. A low oil condition will show up first during high flow rates because the reservoir can empty because the oil can be pumped out faster than it returns. If your unit is not low on oil, you hydro unit could be wearing out. You can get more life out of a worn unit by swapping out the oil for some with higher viscosity (10w-30 to 20w-50).
      It is also possible that the control linkage has loosened or bent. This is low probability but worth checking.

    Is it a 118" belt?

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  3 роки тому

      There should be a sticker under the hood with the belt part # on it. According to Amazon it's 93.1".

    How much width does the bagger chute add to the deck?

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  3 роки тому +1

      I pulled a tape across and I’m getting a width of 48” (deck to outside of bagger) with bagging unit installed.

    u r using WRONG oil... s/b made 4 an air cooled engine... i'm an AMSOIL guy & they make athat kind of oil... ur using a car oil made 4 LOWER TEMPS, like 200 + degrees, air cooled needs 2 handle a lot hotter temp, like 300 + degrees... so go out & find a lawn mower oil, if not the AMSOIL brand... air cooled runs hotter under load & on a HOT day... AMSOIL makes 5w30 / 10w30 / 10w 40 & 15w50, ALL 4 small engines... & it will, w/my experience, run cooler & u will get MORE cuts per tank of gas... i used 2 get 3 cuts w/oil, wen i changed 2 AMSOIL i now get 5 cuts...

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for watching! I agree that there are better oils available; however, it is not accurate to say that I used the wrong oil.
      The manual clearly states "Use of Briggs & Stratton Warranty Certified oils for best performance. Other high-quality detergent oils are acceptable if classified for service SF, SG, SH, SJ or higher. The oil I used is API rated SP which is higher than those listed.

      @@TheLawnEngineer fyi, AMSOIL makes the RACING oil 4 B & D, & also Kohler " 300 " hour oil... sooo, i think they know wut they r doing... SP has 2 do more w/temp of a turbo on a car & MPG ratings, & emission controls, NOT an air cooled engine... do research on API web site &look up categories under 'gasoline engines' SP iz nu, came out in may 2020... so i still say U R USING WRONG OIL, just could b better...

      @@TheLawnEngineer AMSOIL makes 4 oils 4 small engines... a cousin bought a nu simplicity rider, butt i didn't ask the model, so i was searching & that is how i found ur site... i still do not know the exact viscosity... now 2 the oil, 5w30 / AESQT-EA, 10w30 / ASEQT-EA, 10w40 / ASFQT-EA, 15w50 / SEFQT-EA... the EA means 'each' that's the way it is in catalog & on line... go on AMSOIL.COM 2 look them up... i find it very interesting 2 do research in2 different oils & how they work... i did enjoy ur videos... AMSOIL also makes a fluid 4 ur tractors HYDROSTATIC transmissions, product code ATHQT-EA, if interested in that fluid... i do like " talking " 2 other guys who r interested in oils, so u could contact me again if u so choose... & i do appreciate u contacting me...

      I see, the small engine oil. It looks like the main difference is increased zinc and phosphates that they can’t do in automotive oil because they can damage catalytic converters. Anyway, I’ll plan on testing your fuel usage claim. 5 cuts a tank up from 3, that’s a 66% improvement I should be able to easily measure that.
