In the scene where the Pale King is talking to the Mushroom clan and the Mantis Tribe, there are four mantis lords, implying that the traitor lord hasn't betrayed them yet. I love that attention to detail.

1:04 SUCH AN AMAZING SCENE! Marcel and Meg absolutely understood the assignment. Seeing the sentries acting as actual guards is something I never knew I needed. Gives me massive Clone Wars vibes.
I really love the Pale King as a character and how nuanced his actions and motivations are. He did so much evil, but he was just trying to save his kingdom and his people from a supernatural threat. No cost too great...
Agreed. He is not a villain. He tried to do his best for the goal of sustaining his kingdom (and also kinda the entirety of the underground since Radiance was targeting everyone). And he first sacrificed his own family, which is incredibly bad still, but in contrast to the Soul Master he did not use his own subjects. Let us also not forget that he brought sapience to the bugs and (I think) did not directly attack the Radiance. The moths turned away from her of their own volition, granted they probably gained that volition because of the Pale King but he did not force them as far as I know. He is certainly not a perfect being or a completely benevolent King but he tried his best. The fact that his plan did not work turned it from a sad necessity to a tragedy.
"The old King of Hallownest... He must have been desperate to save his crumbling little world. The sacrifices he imposed on others... all for nothing." No, worse. The sacrifices he imposed on others... JUST TO RUIN EVERYTHING HIMSELF.
Always nice to see someone else who thinks like this. People are so quick to put him down as a villain for what he did to the vessels but forget why he did it and other good things he did. Not a terrible person on the whole...but the road to hell is paved with good intentions
1:04 is one of my favourite, love the energy in the whole scene, how the sentries are forcefully pulling and detaining the infected one, how they rise their weapons totally alert, and how the infected continues to resist then it cuts to the radiance's reflection showing why he's dead set on reaching the king, great job done from the animator
1:37 love the fact that after TPK "dreams" about him beating Radiance he wakes up because he saw what will happen in the future, she will come back. And the lyrics going like "tell me what you saw" makes it perfect
WOW!! I love how TPK was depicted here. He's not a villain, just someone who's plan didn't work. And in having such lively animation with him, I was genuinely impressed. All of the times we see him in the game, he's either barely moving or dead and this took what we know about him to a whole new level! It was so well done, thank you for doing this!
Well... He never was? He was simply trying his best in a very bad situation. I mean, c'mon Radiance restoring itself? Meant nothing to him - he was immune. He only wanted to protect his subjects and for this he sacrificed HIS CHILDREN (seriously none of his subjects sacrificed anything aside for his wife (for obvious reason) and trio of Dreamers - overall TPK took everything upon himself) to create a Pure Vessel and once it was done, TPK sealed The Abyss and even Lore Tablet at the entrance says that once "Our Pure Vessel has ascended. Beyond lies only the refuse and regret of its creation. We shall enter that place no longer." -> TPK regretted this much that he had to sacrifice so many and never wanted to enter The Abyss ever again (And on top of it such display of "cruelty" made some of his top five White Knights leave). Heck, this is basically a reason and proof he wasn't able to be as pragmatic anymore - after so many sacrifices he made, despite anything he did bond with Pure Vessel and acted towards him as if he was his son and not just a tool, a container - which led to Radiance finding "a crack" in Pure Vessel's defense leading to Hallownest's downfall.

I mean he did his best in moments of desperation, but it wasn't enough. And void surpasses almost everything in the hollow knight world, Vyrms included.
I love, love, love the part from 2:25 to 2:40- it really made me think of how the Hollow Knight itself must have been like before it was consumed by the Radiance. Training so hard, growing into a powerful knight, and wanting only just to make its father proud of it... It seeing signs of the betrayal beforehand, but not realizing what it meant in time... the regret and sorrow on the Pale King's face before he leaves the child he loved to be chained forever... the shock, betrayal and pain the Hollow Knight itself must have felt in that moment... *ouch my heart*
The moment where Hollow Knight saw his statue/memorial being made before he'd get sent to be locked away forever gave me such tragic chills. Like he just sees what he's being prepared for and cant do anything to stop it, and no one realizes he can actually experience emotions and feel love or anything... It's so sad ):
2:37 I love the how you can really feel the force behind the chains hitting and attaching to THK here. I feel like that kind of strength behind a push is difficult to capture and make it hit the way this scene does making the ending stillness that much more impactful. Edit: Too many commas
You know, this MAP showed me how Hollow Knight would be as an animated show. The first season should definitely focus on PK and the Rise and Fall of Hollownest. I mostly support this idea because of how hype the ending of this AMV was. Just seeing the Knight's horn popping up at the end, knowing what that implies is just hype! Anyways, very very awesome job by everyone in this MAP!
EXACTLY. But in my opinion the show should be placed before/during the infection. The first season would take place before the infection, and the second season would be during the outbreak, and lastly the third season would take place near the complete downfall of hallownest. the entire show would focus mainly on the pale king and overall lore about the past of hallownest, (and mysteries like the void) obviously being part of the game's lore instead of some new alternate timeline,expanding the lore we already knew about the game and just overall give us more information about the LORE
Agree but while telling the story of hollow knight it simultaneously tell the story of the knight/ghost escaping from the void and escaping outside of hollownest. Kind of Easter eggs or fan service while also uses for setting up the knight character

Yeah, the 5 great knights attacks work so well with the character and their design. Sad we only have olgrim on his lonesome and his comrades armour was stolen.
Can we talk about about how amazing the scene with the husk sentry attacking the pale king was!?? Literal chills the whole time! Everyone who took part in that scene did a superb job!

I’ve watched this video so many times, and only down have I noticed that when PK gets blasted away at the 1:02 mark, the light illuminating him is The Radiance’s silhouette. It never caught that detail till now, and it makes me appreciate all these talented animators for making such a great video together!
I absolutely love the idea that while the infection was initially spreading, the Radiance would repeatedly make confrontations with infected hosts. It illustrates the visceral relationship of the higher beings on a very personal level, while properly portraying the infection as truly horrifying as it would be
2:13 It completely escaped my mind that Herrah would crawl around on her stomach like the Stalking Devouts! Only makes her more menacing. Excited to see more of Hornet's spiderness in Silksong! Great video aswell, did an excellent job!
I love the slight differences in how the Pale King is portrayed between the animators. He's such an important character to the story of hallownest, and yet we only see him stationary a few times throughout the game, leaving much of the specifics in his personality, how he moves, how he fights, etc. to interpretation. The fight against the radiance is a very interesting take. When you really think about it, it makes sense. Sealing the infection inside a void child mustn't have been his first idea, right? Kandy and SolarHaze did a great job with the animation there too
It's surprising how much this song work for hollow knight considering they are not connected. For the one who miss what I mean : - the singer is The Radiance; - "the call" is the infestation; - "papa" is a tease about the Pale King; - "empty empire" is a tease about Hallownest being powerless against her; - "tell me what you saw" is a tease about the Pale King capability to see the future/the fall of Hallownest. Bref, in the context of hollow knight, this song is The Radiance being sassy as hell toward the Pale King which is hilarious.
Yes exactly that, but in that las parte I disagree a little, because I think it's more like Radiance being sassy toward the Hollow Knight inside his dreams, because the song starts with "Do you recall your papa when he sat you on his knee?" like making him remember everything to mock of him, also asking him "Do you hear the call?" that just like you said, is like radiance asking him if he hears the groupthink where she has hallownest, mocking of him for falling against the infestation.
I love how Lurien didn't even notice the king at first. Also, the depiction of the Pale King was great, and the scene with the Hollow Knight seeing his own statue being built was chilling. Great job, all of you!
Imagine if Team Cherry made a deal with Netflix or something, to make a show entirely about the rise and fall of Hollownest, starting from the "rebirth" of the Pale King, showing how he built his kingdom, deals made with other civilizations like the mantis tribe and Deepnest, battles fought by the 5 Great Knights and eventually ending with the collapse of Hollownest. Honestly would be the coolest thing ever

I really like the visual of the Hollow Knight being chained up. We don't really know the sort of magic the black egg works on but it's clear from the endings it works like clockwork, automatically making new chains in the event a new host takes over. I'm fascinated by the black egg temple and all of the abyss honestly. Void is such a cool substance.
0:51 Just using a comment to mark my favorite park, it's so satisfying to watch. The whole scene with the soldier attacking the king, it's just so smooth and and well done,. Really everyone did an amazing job, but this just sticks out to me.

The scene with the infected bug attacking the king does rule but I think my favorite shots are at the end, the knight getting wrapped in chains has so much impact and I love how the last shot implies that the Radiance was singing the song the whole time. The radiance movements in that shot are so extra and it's amazing. Shoutouts to everyone because this rules and I'm sad I don't have more people to share this with who would get it.
That was so cool, everything was weaved together so smoothly and the humor didn’t overshadow the dark bits of the lore at all. Honestly that made it even better, just seeing the Pale King scramble around and be like “plan here. you come. NOW!” Is so funny to me

WOW! That was amazing! You all keep knocking it out of the park with these Multi animator projects! I gotta say, my favourite part is seeing how animators put HK combat mechanics to life- it's just fascinating to see the small quirks of the fighting from the game mirrored in these stunning projects! Bravo!
This along with Curses are two of the most impressive animatics on all of UA-cam. These have genuinely inspired me to try and get better at art, and I cannot stress how much I love the differing art styles, it’s just incredible. All in all, everything here is incredible and I really hope for a third one if possible. Thank you so much for creating this, as it is genuinely a masterpiece.

WOW. That was AMAZING. That really brought the Pale King to life - seeing him animated, moving around the kingdom, experiencing the downfall of his empire, struggling to figure out how to defeat and contain his enemy. Beautifully done! Bravo!
Yeah, it makes you wonder if the radiance wasn’t gonna screw them all. But now it will because not only did the pale king get rid of their entire religion, but also seal them away and drag people away from it.
I never thought about how The Radience would come for the Pale King in their dreams! Must have made the race to solve the problem more frightening when you have to fight it out of your own head every night.

This paints the PK in a kinda childish light, like how he stays up all nigh finishing the wingmoulds and how he even falls asleep and dreams about beating the radiance, and especially when he runs toward White Lady and lays his blueprint on the table, kinda like a kid would haha.
haha that part's actually intended to be a flashback to the PK stealing the moth tribe away from the Radiance, but I can understand how you would interpret it that way ^^

It was so quick, but I think that part Mebi did at the beginning with the 5 Great Knights may be my favorite bit. They have always really intrigued me, and seeing them in action even by fan interpretation made me giddy with excitement
All of the people who made this are amazing, but by far my favorite was from 0:56 to 1:00 . The moment with the radiance bursting out of the insects infection was *mwah* chef's kiss.
0:56 - 1:15 is my favorite part, it really gives that feeling of heavy concern weighing on the Pale King 1:07 - 1:13 I can imagine the infected bug telling the pale king that like the infection won’t stop or something that’s very worrying to the king, and then the bug being happy knowing that the pale kings kingdom will fall
One of my favorite parts of Hollow Knight lore is how many absolutely magnificent animatics can be created without even showing the playable character once.
Everyone did an amazing job on this MAP you can feel all the talent and the passion that was put into it My personal favourites were MEBI at 0:19 and 1:40 Clarren knight 0:33 And the whole sequence from 0:55 to 1:15 is just gorgeous

WOW!! I love how TPK was depicted here. He's not a villain, just someone who's plan didn't work. And in having such lively animation with him, I was genuinely impressed. All of the times we see him in the game, he's either barely moving or dead and this took what we know about him to a whole new level! It was so well done, thank you for doing this!

He was simply trying his best in a very bad situation. I mean, c'mon Radiance restoring itself? Meant nothing to him - he was immune. He only wanted to protect his subjects and for this he sacrificed HIS CHILDREN (seriously none of his subjects sacrificed anything aside for his wife (for obvious reason) and trio of Dreamers - overall TPK took everything upon himself) to create a Pure Vessel and once it was done, TPK sealed The Abyss and even Lore Tablet at the entrance says that once "Our Pure Vessel has ascended. Beyond lies only the refuse and regret of its creation. We shall enter that place no longer." -> TPK regretted this much that he had to sacrifice so many and never wanted to enter The Abyss ever again (And on top of it such display of "cruelty" made some of his top five White Knights leave). Heck, this is basically a reason and proof he wasn't able to be as pragmatic anymore - after so many sacrifices he made, despite anything he did bond with Pure Vessel and acted towards him as if he was his son and not just a tool, a container - which led to Radiance finding "a crack" in Pure Vessel's defense leading to Hallownest's downfall.
Well there’s this weird fringe theory that he’s not dead an is actually elderbug but like… it’s disturbingly possible so imma not go into it.

I'll be real I want a Hollow knight show SO BADLY. The pale king being the main character,and the story being placed before/during the infection
I love, love, love the part from 2:25 to 2:40- it really made me think of how the Hollow Knight itself must have been like before it was consumed by the Radiance. Training so hard, growing into a powerful knight, and wanting only just to make its father proud of it... It seeing signs of the betrayal beforehand, but not realizing what it meant in time... the regret and sorrow on the Pale King's face before he leaves the child he loved to be chained forever... the shock, betrayal and pain the Hollow Knight itself must have felt in that moment... *ouch my heart*
The moment where Hollow Knight saw his statue/memorial being made before he'd get sent to be locked away forever gave me such tragic chills.
Like he just sees what he's being prepared for and cant do anything to stop it, and no one realizes he can actually experience emotions and feel love or anything... It's so sad ):
It probably felt a lot of affection for TPK, so in my opinion I think Hollow didn't actually mind sacrificing itself.

2:37 I love the how you can really feel the force behind the chains hitting and attaching to THK here. I feel like that kind of strength behind a push is difficult to capture and make it hit the way this scene does making the ending stillness that much more impactful.

You know, this MAP showed me how Hollow Knight would be as an animated show. The first season should definitely focus on PK and the Rise and Fall of Hollownest. I mostly support this idea because of how hype the ending of this AMV was. Just seeing the Knight's horn popping up at the end, knowing what that implies is just hype! Anyways, very very awesome job by everyone in this MAP!

EXACTLY. But in my opinion the show should be placed before/during the infection. The first season would take place before the infection, and the second season would be during the outbreak, and lastly the third season would take place near the complete downfall of hallownest.
the entire show would focus mainly on the pale king and overall lore about the past of hallownest, (and mysteries like the void) obviously being part of the game's lore instead of some new alternate timeline,expanding the lore we already knew about the game and just overall give us more information about the LORE
Agree but while telling the story of hollow knight it simultaneously tell the story of the knight/ghost escaping from the void and escaping outside of hollownest.
Kind of Easter eggs or fan service while also uses for setting up the knight character

I’ve watched this video so many times, and only down have I noticed that when PK gets blasted away at the 1:02 mark, the light illuminating him is The Radiance’s silhouette. It never caught that detail till now, and it makes me appreciate all these talented animators for making such a great video together!

I absolutely love the idea that while the infection was initially spreading, the Radiance would repeatedly make confrontations with infected hosts. It illustrates the visceral relationship of the higher beings on a very personal level, while properly portraying the infection as truly horrifying as it would be
The Menderbug blasting it's face off made me laugh more than I'd like to admit. The entire clip starting 0:29 makes me giggle, amazing work Pryocreep!

I love the slight differences in how the Pale King is portrayed between the animators. He's such an important character to the story of hallownest, and yet we only see him stationary a few times throughout the game, leaving much of the specifics in his personality, how he moves, how he fights, etc. to interpretation.
The fight against the radiance is a very interesting take. When you really think about it, it makes sense. Sealing the infection inside a void child mustn't have been his first idea, right?
Kandy and SolarHaze did a great job with the animation there too
It's surprising how much this song work for hollow knight considering they are not connected.
For the one who miss what I mean :
- the singer is The Radiance;
- "the call" is the infestation;
- "papa" is a tease about the Pale King;
- "empty empire" is a tease about Hallownest being powerless against her;
- "tell me what you saw" is a tease about the Pale King capability to see the future/the fall of Hallownest.
Bref, in the context of hollow knight, this song is The Radiance being sassy as hell toward the Pale King which is hilarious.
Note: in the context of this animation she might be singing it to the Hollow Knight. So the "present" of the animation would be at the end (3:00).

Yes exactly that, but in that las parte I disagree a little, because I think it's more like Radiance being sassy toward the Hollow Knight inside his dreams, because the song starts with "Do you recall your papa when he sat you on his knee?" like making him remember everything to mock of him, also asking him "Do you hear the call?" that just like you said, is like radiance asking him if he hears the groupthink where she has hallownest, mocking of him for falling against the infestation.
I love how Lurien didn't even notice the king at first. Also, the depiction of the Pale King was great, and the scene with the Hollow Knight seeing his own statue being built was chilling. Great job, all of you!

I really like the visual of the Hollow Knight being chained up. We don't really know the sort of magic the black egg works on but it's clear from the endings it works like clockwork, automatically making new chains in the event a new host takes over. I'm fascinated by the black egg temple and all of the abyss honestly. Void is such a cool substance.
2:08 no one talkes about it, but i really like lurien in this scene. He has some expression and personallity which is more than the game gave him.

The scene with the infected bug attacking the king does rule but I think my favorite shots are at the end, the knight getting wrapped in chains has so much impact and I love how the last shot implies that the Radiance was singing the song the whole time. The radiance movements in that shot are so extra and it's amazing. Shoutouts to everyone because this rules and I'm sad I don't have more people to share this with who would get it.

Yeah, it makes you wonder if the radiance wasn’t gonna screw them all. But now it will because not only did the pale king get rid of their entire religion, but also seal them away and drag people away from it.
I never thought about how The Radience would come for the Pale King in their dreams! Must have made the race to solve the problem more frightening when you have to fight it out of your own head every night.

This paints the PK in a kinda childish light, like how he stays up all nigh finishing the wingmoulds and how he even falls asleep and dreams about beating the radiance, and especially when he runs toward White Lady and lays his blueprint on the table, kinda like a kid would haha.
haha that part's actually intended to be a flashback to the PK stealing the moth tribe away from the Radiance, but I can understand how you would interpret it that way ^^

0:56 - 1:15 is my favorite part, it really gives that feeling of heavy concern weighing on the Pale King
1:07 - 1:13 I can imagine the infected bug telling the pale king that like the infection won’t stop or something that’s very worrying to the king, and then the bug being happy knowing that the pale kings kingdom will fall
