Update 11/11/2022: I’ve made washing twice a week a regular part of my regimen. I have switched to a cowash midweek simply because I felt like my hair no longer needed shampooing twice within the week.
I usually wash twice a week because I workout and I sweat so much in my scalp, I have to wash my hair. Just like you, I found that my hair is much more hydrated and easier to manage. You're right, su h a disservice to be told that we shouldn't wash our hair too much.
Same. But it depending I. What was happening with body. When I shaved my hair and was growing it back (takes long time) I could get away with 2 washes once longer (still short most standards ) once a week. However Ive been using lots of jam and doing pony puff. Lots of build up. Imma have to start and try it again. Use aphage leave I. And pink luster seal with oil. Life changer
I shampoo one day then co wash midweek. My hair has less tangles, shedding and my scalp is so much better. Scalp health is key. I ain't listening to the once a week people anymore. My hair is a tangled mess if I go more than 4 days
I also enjoy shampooing, conditioning, and styling my hair more frequently. It's nice to just get into the shower and be able to cleanse from head to toe. I shampoo every 4 - 5 days depending on when my scalp starts to feel oily and itchy. Congratz on beginning nursing school. I thought you were going to say cosmetology. 🤣
Washing my hair every 3 days keeps my scalp clean, my hair is more moisturized because I produce more sebum so it’s softerand, my hair seams to be stronger, and it grows a bit faster. That crazy ich is no longer. 😀👍
I LOVE cleansing my hair and scalp. The fresh clean feeling is just so much more comfortable. PLUS. Detangling is so simple. I don't have to prepoo when I wash twice a week because their are barely any tangles. I can wash, condition, and detangle in literally 30 minutes and then style. Super simple and no fuss.
I've done this and I am going back to it. My hair had a noticeable change too. It laid down when wet in the shower and I could detangle right under the stream. My hair also retained much more moisture. I'm going aback to it this week.
I hope you have much success in the nursing program! I shampoo my hair every 4 or 5 days and it has been thriving. I make sure to keep the moisture/protein balance and I don't have much shedding.
Wow! This is the EXACT same routine I've been doing for about a month now. My hair has been flourishing because it's less dry! And I need that because I have bleached hair. I'm also using bond repair products and that's doing wonders for damage.
Yeah girl, this is the REAL hair growth hack! I shampoo 2-3 times a week and my hair is breaking less, shedding less, it's so soft and hydrated, it responds to products waaaay better, and my edges that have been thin for years are filling in (I don't use any oils on them or growth aids)! I wish more bw would try this.
I'm happy to see someone else gets excited for their next wash day. I've tried washing more often for the same reason you mentioned, and it was okay until it wasn't. I no longer got excited about it. Will you upload a video about your experience if you try washing twice a week? I'd really like to see that.
@@UsonePrecious it was just getting hard for to find time in the morning with my work schedule and family life. I was also slower with my technique. I think I will give it another go now that I am more comfortable with my technique and product application. I usually prefer to do my wash and go in the morning and I have to be at work pretty early too so I usually will need to wake up around 5am so I can get my hair done before starting my morning routine with my kids and get to work on time.
I remember trying to wash my hair 2x a week and I actually didn't like it. It made my hair too dry. Once a week works best for me. It's cool to see it work for you though! This goes to show how versatile our hair is.
I surely love the feel of a fresh wash...my scalp & hair feel great. But if I can hold out for 2 weeks that's a good thing. That second week, I am ready for all that comes with it. All the best with nursing school!
Lol by week two I'm already dying to have my hands in my hair and to have something fresh. That and I can tell my hair at that point is starting to dry out when I wait that long. It would be nice to not feel so bothered by pushing back my wash days, but I am that type A type of person haha.😂
When I first went natural, I washed my hair twice a week. My hair needed it b/c it was dehydrated. Over time I realized it did not need twice weekly washing & moved to once a week. When your hair is dehydrated or you really want to get your hydration on point I think washing & conditioning twice a week is the way to go, but I think eventually it’s unnecessary. Also once your hair starts growing I don’t think the constant manipulation is that great.
I’m with you. I don’t think it’s necessary for me, but I will say I’ve been noticing my hair’s been growing very well since washing twice weekly compared to once. The manipulation hasn’t seemed to be bad for my hair probably because I’m not using a brush every time I wash.
How does it become unnecessary? You never stop needing to cleanse your SCALP. I think that's our problem, we put hair condition before scalp health and keeping it clean.
Funny thing is the very idea of washing twice a week had been on my mind and I typed it in to see if high porosity ladies find they need it more. Glad I found your video.
My style actually looks better when I do it in the morning before work. Yea wash, style, 30mins hood dryer, then hair dry the rest of the way. Tangles are less, so my detangling session is wonderful. My hair looks more hydrated. I use a moisturizing shampoo, and I deep condition in the shower, before detangling.
🎉😂You do have naturally soft & hydrated hair NOW!!! 😂. Hope you kept washing it more often like this because it grows faster if you wash it often also. Many UA-camrs get paid to do washdays. So they do it weekly or monthly. It’s weathering on the hair if they wash it daily With NEW Products theyre promoting all the dang time. 😅. Stick to the products that actually work for your hair.
I love your shape❤ How do you keep the top hair up from flopping down onto the bottom hair? And how do you prevent the top hair from sticking straight up? I have 4c hair like yours and anytime I try a deep side part I get those issues. Thanks for sharing. Your hair is cute. Are you the model girl on Black Girl curls instagram? You look so familiar🥰
@@majormediaproductions aww thank you!!! ❤️ Lol I don’t think I’ve ever been featured in blackgirlcurls insta. Maybe you’ve seen me somewhere else.I’m not sure what you mean by keeping the top hair from flopping but from sticking straight up, it might likely be the amount of gel I use and the length of my hair too!
I’m growing out my hair currently. It’s hard to believe because with the way my hair is, my hair shrinks VERY VERY tightly, so length doesn’t show on me the exact same way as it does on others. I’ve talked a few times about it. It’s grown a lot this year actually and in general it grows pretty fast but it’s not something anyone will typically be able to see. It’s a part of my hair I have to accept as someone who has fine hair and is low density.🤷🏿♀️ If I wasn’t so intentional with the way I elongate my hair during washes, my hair would look like a very overgrown buzzcut. 😂
Hi! Aww Thank you for checking!❤ Yes everything is okay. School life has been hard and time consuming, but I am most definitely working on somethings to release soon!

A clean scalp is a healthy scalp.
I agree! Washing and styling more often is less stressful. If it doesn't turn out right the next wash day is only a few days away.

Such a great comment. You brought up good points and yes you are correct, washing more often does speed up growth.
Hi I just started doing this last week. I wanted to ask if you still do this
Hi, because of time, I don't anymore, but when I was doing this, I did eventually switch to cowashing mid week.

@@UsonePrecious That's wonderful! Much success to you. And many happy and joyous days ahead. Your patients will be blessed by your presence 🙏 😊🌷❤
Did you lose density? Your hair in the before pic looks thicker than the after.
I think it's because the hair is smoother with less frizz. Her dry hair looks the same as before.
No I didn’t lose density. It’s probably due to the less frizz when I wash now. My curls are just extremely tight lol.
More moisturized hair - less dry, not as tangled, not as big…

Not buzzcut but an extreme teeny weeny afro.
During this time were you deep condition twice a week or once a week?
Hey @TaylorDanae13
During that time I wasn’t deep conditioning at all.
