    Regarding past cringe, what helped me learn to move past them was to first purposely reexamine those moments in my head on my terms as as exposure therapy to stop reacting to them, so not when my brain says "hey remember this horrible thing". Once I was older with more experience I looked back on memories of others being cringe and realized we all do it...and often. Now I just call myself out on it in the moment and it defuses the tension it creates. It usually gets people to laugh and breaks the ice too. Its a process. GL to those who are plagued by them.

    The interesting thing about leading, is once I started making the little decisions, when I would say "I don't care, I just want to spend time with you, where do you think" about where we went out she would honestly answer. She knew that I wouldn't say that if I truly did not care way. If she waffled though I would just make a call. It honestly was one of the biggest positive improvements in our relationship (top 2).

    i recommend reading imagined communities by Benedict Anderson because nationalism is a fairly new concept. it wasn't always like this. before forming an identity based on where they came from, people formed identities on religion and even language

      Yup, Nationalism took over when Monarchies failed.
      Also under monarchies, people had more regional allegiances, local Lords, there were also Charters (another set of allegiances) families, etc.

      @@elathiaskade7311 honor societies often had major feuds with close cousins and would gladly ally with a stranger if the feud was hot enough. Honor societies generally existed in cattle, goat and sheep raising communities, southern England, Wales and Scotland as well as many communities around the world. A number of famous feuds in the American Appalachian communities were original close families with shared genetic ancestors.
      Race was invented very recently. Close ties were with people you knew and trusted, not with people of a similar race.

    Tread a little carefully with the golden ratio. While it does appear often in nature, it's been found that a lot of the supposed occurrences were just sort of close enough to appear at first glance to be the golden ratio (or the Fibonacci sequence), but in the end are not. It's related to the tendency to overestimate the occurrences of especially notable phenomena. (This is one flavor of confirmation bias.)
    Here are a couple equivalent ways of defining the golden ratio:
    * It's the number G where its reciprocal is gotten by subtracting 1 from G. (So 1/G = G - 1, and after some simplification that becomes G^2 = G + 1.)
    * If you have a 1-by-G rectangle and cut a 1-by-1 square off the end, the new rectangle's sides are in the same proportions as the original rectangle.
    The Fibonacci sequence F is given by F(0) = 1, F(1) = 1, and F(n + 2) = F(n + 1) + F (n) for larger values.
    Now check this out: Compare formulas
    * G^2 = G + 1
    * F(n + 2) = F(n+1) + F(n)
    Pretty similar looking, right? Well, that's why it's no coincidence that the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci sequence are so tightly intertwined.
    Finally, if you solve G^2 = G + 1, you get two solutions, one of which is positive. That positive answer is (1 + sqrt(5))/2, which is around 1.618.

    We have many complex issues to handle over the next couple decades to say the least..
    One problem is very apparent right off the bat.. not many are mature enough to have the conversation at any age these days..
    I have a wife and children and am in my early forties, the issues I recognized in my early teens have come to the forefront today as I have long suspected.. it was inevitable.
    The Frankfurt school indoctrination has been successful for those who wanted its expansion..a good half of our population are ideologically captured by it.. the more logical and reasonable people are generally the ones who recognize it for what it is.. and those who can at least recognize the many areas where we departed from the paths we should have maintained for a healthy society. In my opinion there is and has been an incredible amount of sabotage all brought about by design.
    I won’t go to far into the weeds on this..
    I’ll just wrap this paragraph up.. we don’t have a homogenous society anywhere in the west now and yes it was planned so..
    It is obvious, and you cannot unsee it once you see it. I happen to care about my ethnic heritage and believe it was vital in creating society, it was responsible for the Western world. It is imperative that ethnic Europeans across the West rediscover their racial consciousness and shake the indoctrination and realize we have been lied to a great deal since the World Wars and even beyond.. the actions of Western leaders and the happenings in the West ought to be enough to start asking questions and drawing the parallels with history..
    However this can be difficult if you were taught an entirely false history, and even more difficult if you were taught another revised false history.. layers of falsehoods.
    On every front and every level we have been subverted and had our lives inverted.. i would encourage my brothers out there to take care of yourselves and be active, get strong, stay strong, and educate yourselves about history and your roots.. mind the lies and propaganda however.. look for old books and make friends with your older brothers out there who have been awake for a while. Take care.

    Oh. OK. So acting thoughtful gets him to think you are a 7.
    This is funny stuff.
    Last week he said that his friend wasn't at 7 when he asked him about rabbits in Australia and his friend described how things had changed through time and adaptations to that. And he said 5.
    Now because 1. the question is personal and 2. the guy acted thoughtful and gave the same kind of response about adaptations through time. He assigns 7.
    It's way more complex than this.
    Firstly, you aren't at X level it's that you can sometimes use / access X level. Secondly, it's not holistic. You might be able to access X level in some areas of life and not in others. Thirdly, if you ask a certain type of question it might be better to answer it at a lower level even if you are capable of accessing it at higher levels.
    He sometimes acknowledges there's things and speaks acco. Other times he really turns out into a strict hierarchical system that he can apply with perfect oversight and judge everyone in a very final and often diminishing way.
    Not very 8 behaviour.

    30:33 It doesn't make sense that Level 5 is above Level 4 (the religious level), because empiricism and rationalism are dependent on the BELIEF that human perception which underpins science (latin for knowledge) is the highest form of reality. This is fundamentally a religious argument.
    So making level 5 the "atheist level" is flawed and rigid and doesn't account for religious people that don't follow organized religions but worship ideological aims like a classless utopia or total equality.
    So instead, Level 5 should be known as the level of understanding people who were raised in a different environment with different beliefs to one's own and people of various belief system can move up several levels too.
    Belief in something transcedent should not be a factor in the level system that brings you down past level 4.

    • @raviolirabbit2015
      @raviolirabbit2015 5 годин тому

      I was confused at first when he said that, but it makes more sense once you suppose he's talking about religious fundamentalism, which is a lot more rigid and less broad than what you're describing (I think).
      It doesn't mean that you need to be an atheist to be at level 5 or higher, it just means that it's common for atheists to be found at level 5; same way that progressives are almost always at level six. A religious fundamentalist will fall into 4 not because they are wrong, but because they believe in a very strict order of society where rules need to be enforced; something that few atheists believe in. That's why atheists tend to fall into level 5, they mostly don't believe in societies structured around moral rules. "You do your truth and I'll do my truth" kind of hippie crap is what you'll hear them say, completely unaware that just doesn't work.
      None of these developmental stages are bad, it's just that they have special intellectual weaknesses that will appear with lack of humility and lack of care to understand.
      People only really go up the levels when their beliefs get challenged, and they either change their beliefs or in the case of being vindicated keep them. If anything, atheists probably reflect an excess of level 5's "understand" mantra, where if they can't see the immediate benefits to something they reject it.
      tl;dr
      Atheists are level 5, but not all folks developmentally at level 5 are atheists. My personal opinion is that if someone wants to progress past level 5 they have to realize some things need to be experienced humbly to truly understand them.

    • @cosmictreason2242
      @cosmictreason2242 3 години тому +1

      It's helpful to understand the difference between conscious awareness and epistemology. Actual Reformed Christian consciousness is like level 8 minimally. Irreligious people are still "religious" in consciousness

    • @cosmictreason2242
      @cosmictreason2242 2 години тому +1

      You can instead see level 4 as institutionalized (Catholics pre reformation) and level 5 as individualist (the reformation made individual piety of more importance than institutional affiliation. Humanism is the illegitimate child of the reformation. Materialistic atheism is a pseudo Calvinistic cult)

    I don't understand why you always call Generation Y Millenials when you call the other generation like X, X and not its other names, but I guess it has a few so X is easier but so is Y instead of Millenials.
    I feel like it's people who were introduced to generation subdivisions later in life, for me, and everyone I know throughout school, it was Gen Y.
    Now we are in our 30s it's always Millenials, lol!
    Edit: Reminds me of the planking in fitness.
    It was always talked about as a bridge, but after the planking/ human flag pole craze, it was changed, and forgotten about...

      Personally I’m a zoomer and have never heard of a nickname for gen X.
      I call em boomer, gen X, millennials, zoomers then gen alpha (they don’t have a nickname yet)

      @brianlong2334 22 години тому +2

      @ringthatbell9597 As I said, people who were introduced to it later in life say Millennials, it came around the end of gen Y.
      Generation Y became common uses in 1993 until about 2000 to 2003.
      The first mention of the term millennials was from a book in 1991 didn't gain popularity till the early 2000s.
      You have generations as follows
      Greatest
      Silent
      Babby boomers even thought they technically started before the 1940s and ended before they claimed to have, but I digress the baby boom actually started in the 1930s but the war slowed it but moving on.
      Then its
      Gen X
      Y
      Z
      Then it's A for alpha
      B for beta
      Generation X also has the names for it
      MTV
      Latchkey
      Forgotten
      To name a few, I think there are a few more but not as commonly known, so about 6 or 8 names in total they have. Yeah, lol!

      @ yea that’s what I’m talking about, people use words that other people know and use because that’s how communication works if Mr math or anyone for that matter was talking about “mtv” in the context of a discussion of generations, a lot of people who aren’t familiar with that lingo would be left behind.

      I was a competitive athlete as a teen, and even Olympic German coaches used the term bridge that's now called a plank....
      A plank makes no sense as you don't lay down flat to do it.
      It's just silly language used when a particular craze came through and unfortunately stuck.
