In this episode, we kick off our journey in the New England High Country of NSW, where our first stop is Ebor Falls. We then hit the amazing 4WD tracks that lead us to the secluded Cod Hole Campground, nestled by the stunning Nymboida River in Nymboi-Binderay National Park (near Guy Fawkes River National Park). Cod Hole is an incredible, secluded campsite perfect for those looking to escape into nature.
Next, we explore Old Dalmorton Town, a historic site that dates back to the gold rush era in the 1800s. This now-abandoned town was once a bustling gold mining settlement, offering a fascinating glimpse into Australia’s rich history. As part of the journey, we drive through the iconic convict tunnel on Old Grafton Road, an impressive piece of engineering carved out by (maybe?) convicts in the 1860s to improve access to the inland areas. It's a must-see for any 4WD enthusiast.
Finally, we end our trip at the serene Dalmorton Campground, the perfect spot to unwind after a day of off-roading and exploring.
Join us as we tackle challenging tracks, soak in epic scenery, and dive deep into Australia's wild history!

Such an awesome video guys! I had no idea this place existed - really keen to check it out on my next road trip
Thanks heaps :) We can't wait to get back - maybe we will see ya there!
Hey Matty and Em,
I’ve absolutely loved watching your D-Max build and travel videos! They've been such a huge source of inspiration for my own build and have given me some awesome ideas for future trips.
I was wondering-have you had any issues with your gear along the way? Setting up a vehicle can be pretty pricey, as you know, so hearing your honest thoughts on how everything has held up would be super helpful for anyone planning their own build. Maybe even a quick video on the big-ticket items like suspension, bar work, the canopy, and the rooftop tent? Whether it's failures or just small things that bugged you, it’d be great to hear about.
Anyway, keep up the awesome work! I'm really looking forward to your next video.
Hey! Thanks so much for watching and following along :) Honestly our big ticket gear items that we have held up so well. This was our first canopy ute setup (came from an old landcruiser setup) so we were actually so happy with how well it went. The canopy, suspension, barwork and tent we genuinely had no complaints with and definitely did the job with what we were putting the car through on our lap. Anything we would change (which there actually isnt too much) would be more from a design setup perspective based on decisions we made not related to product if that makes sense. A big one for us would be water storage. We currently carry 20L in a jerry and 40L in a footwell watertank that is just gravity fed. Would love to figure out a way to carry more in a more convenient location, whether that is somewhere in the canopy or a underbody tank etc. For now though, it's functional. But you would know what it's like, always looking for ways to make camping setups easier so you have more time around those campfires :p I like your idea about the videos - we might look at doing some more review videos in the future
Amazing scenery. Cannot wait to go there on our next trip up North.
We reckon you’ll love it! Great spot 😀.
Fabulous episode guys lobe your journey and content 😂
Thank you! Had so much fun in this spot! Thanks for watching :)
I love seeing ppl exploring one of my favourite parts of the world, been going out Dalmorton way since I was a kid. On the other hand, its really hitting social media last 18 months or so and as such getting more used which is a negative!! Ha ha I want to keep the place to myself.
Excellent adventure though, enjoyed the vid.
Thanks so much for watching! It definitely is a lovely place. :) Yeah we get what you're saying, it's a fine line between not wanting somewhere to become too popular and letting people know these amazing places exist so they can experience it for themselves
Great Video Guys
Thanks heaps! :) Appreciate you watching
Love this place we also only discovered it this year. Did you get to Tommy’s lookout?? It’s possibly one of the best lookouts in NSW, epic scale.
How good is it! No we didn't unfortunately - definitely going to add it to the list now then!! :)
Awesome video of some seriously beautiful country, keep it up. I have to ask, what brand/model drone do you use? it produces some amazing shots.
Thank you, we love making them! Thanks for watching 😀.
We’re using a Mavic Mini Pro 4.
It’s amazing what those little things can do now - they’ve come such a long way. We’re really happy with it!
Been hanging out for my BE fix. Thankyou
Thanks :) Hope it was worth the wait!
Great vid... One Day... - Similar Setup....
Thanks! It's always exciting starting a new setup - good luck!
As soon as you cross the bridge to enter Dalmorton Campground chuck a hard left to camp right on the river in a great private spot 👍
Awesome thanks for the tip! We'll have to check that out next time :)
Awesome video guys, audio is crisp aswell, what mic are you using?
Thanks heaps for watching! Sorry for the slow reply. We use the Rode Wireless Go II mics - really happy with them
Yeah i know what ya mean about vic high country im addicted to
Yep it’s easy to get addicted to!!
The Old Grafton Rd tunnel was NOT excavated by convicts. It WAS a contract job by workers. So change your vid title. Cheers. 👍🏻🙏🦘
You should know that facts are boring, better to bullshit and seek forgiveness later 😂
Yes you're right, and we did say that it wasn't technically built by convicts in the video. It seems to still be referred to by that name by a lot of people though. Seems to have had many names in the past: The Old Grafton Road Tunnel - The Dalmorton Tunnel - The Convict Tunnel. Using the name The Convict Tunnel just makes it easily recognisable to people :) Thanks heaps for watching!
