Why the Lotus Exige S is a Driving Legend - APEX:60

The Lotus Exige has always been an example of how lightness results in speed. The first Exige, launched in 2000, had 177HP but it only weighed 1,720lbs so it hit 60MPH in just 4.7 seconds. That’s half a second slower than a 2020 Mustang GT despite the Lotus having 40% of the Ford's power. A few years later they added a supercharger, called it the Exige S, and a star was born.
Things have only gotten better since. With the 3rd generation of Exige S, Lotus replaced the outgoing supercharged inline-four with a supercharged V6. Horsepower jumped. Torque nearly doubled. Weight increased as well but at 2,593lbs it's still one of the lightest cars on sale. Imagine a Miata with two engines and you start to get the idea.
Mix those numbers with the legendary chassis engineering Lotus is known for and you get one of the best-driving cars on Earth.
