  • Hope ya'll enjoy this rare audio clip of the Cathedrals in 1968! Bobby Clark was on the original recording of Unclouded Day, but left soon after, thus it became a concert staple for Mack Taunton. Taunton's rendition of Unclouded Day years later at the Cathedrals Reunion was a highlight of the night! It's neat to hear how it sounded in concert back in '68.
    Members:
    Bass - George Younce
    Baritone/Pianist - Danny Koker
    Lead - Glen Payne
    Tenor - Mack Taunton
    Guitarist - Vic Clay
Posting this in honor of Mack Taunton, who turned 80 a few days ago! Thankful that some gospel legends like him are still around!

This is the oldest live footage I’ve ever heard from the Cathedrals!

I have one of this same lineup from 1967, but that is the earliest live recording I have. One day I hope to find something out there of the original group!

@@thecathedralquartetfans3795 Yeah I just listened to “Mama’s Teaching Angels….” from Mac Taunton. He might’ve been the best tenor they ever had, but they’ve had many excellent tenors. There’s been a lot of debates on that, I’m sure.
