What a lovely noise the horses’ hooves make on the cobblestones.
I've never been up the Royal Mile to see this in person, truth be told i didn't even know it happened, so thank you for sharing :)
ooo, I didn't know about this...now I have to find out more, and the places where to capture them galloping/cantering along the common ground. Thank you for bringing this to light, their next ride is the day after I arrive in Edinburgh
We were there too but didn’t spot you. What a terrific event and great crowds. At 20:13 we and our umbrella make an appearance in your video. Lol. It was wet but worth it.
What a marvelous bit of history and tradition! I had no idea one could actually stand atop the Mercat Cross.
Thank you Tony. Soo much for the history lesson as well as seeing sooo many beautiful horses.
Glad you enjoyed it
You did an excellent job
Thank you for sharing Tony. I really enjoyed this video.
great to see the Common Riders from all parts, must have been great for them to rise the Mile
"Common" riders? Oh, that's how it is? LOL...I ride Western. They would likely consider me a common rider as well, huh?
This is so fun, thank you for braving the rain and posting!
You are so welcome!
Just an observation Tony, you might not want to use that pic for your video again, when viewed under the drop down notifications list it looks very close to the icon YT use for when a video is or has been pulled, meaning some people might just skip it.
I did enjoy seeing it, but it seemed rather disorganized from the standpoint of the riders not squaring up, and they were on their phones mostly. I can imagine that it wasn't always like that. Great horses though. I ride as well, but not in "English" gear or tack. They may not want the rodeo girls out on the Mile. Great traditional ride. I like the fact that you are dedicated and get out there for us. Thank you.
Another good video Tony sorry you got wet 😂
Tell me about it
Some of those riders are far too heavy for prolonged riding on those poor horses
As it turns out we were about 100 ft apart. Could not pull up UA-cam to find where you were to say hello. Then the rain. Go figure.
