I've been having the absolute worst time recently, and honest to god, after listening to this I felt so so happy that there were tears in my eyes. Just all of the memories of playing Mario Kart 64, Double Dash and Mario Kart 7, and just the fact that there are others who really appreciate and remember these games for how special they are. Your video reminded me that I'm not on my own and through these amazing nostalgic games there will always be closure and memories to share with people in the same boat. Absolutely infallible performance Carlos, I'm so grateful that your videos exist and I can listen to them. You are an incredibly talented young man!

In light of recent events, I felt that this song would be very fitting for this week. Please refrain from assuming anything about my personal beliefs regarding this matter, this is insaneintherainMUSIC after all ;) Also, it's the Fourth of July in the US, and fireworks come in all the pretty colors... so rainbows.
For me, Rainbow Road has always been THE quintessential Mario Kart song. Nintendo realizes this too, since the racing track is in almost all renditions of the Mario Kart series. The N64 version of Rainbow Road resonates the most with me, I remember playing the course with my dad and falling really far behind, and he told me never to give up in the race. As incredibly cheesy as that sounds, I guess it really taught me a lesson.
As for the arrangement, I'm really really proud of how this turned out. I might say that this is THE best arrangement I have written for my typical quartet instrumentation. I totally didn't intend for this cover to end up being 8 minute long, the arrangement just came out to be that way. Somehow the tune doesn't really FEEL like it's 8 minutes long. I can't really explain why I love this arrangement so much, other than it flowing quite naturally.
Mixing this cover was AWESOME, because I'm fairly sure I've finally nailed down my saxophone tone. After placing the microphone inbetween the bell and the upper stack of the saxophone, I've finally gotten the sound I wanted, similar to Melvin Butler and Joshua Redman. Now it's just up to me to practice more. All the instruments fit really well together, and mixing was pretty easy!

Peripheric Thanks! I really tried to emphasize dynamics in this arrangement, dynamics get lost a lot in the world of game music covers, especially in heavier genres. Jazz is one of those genres where dynamics are super duper important!

This makes me wish that my parents forced me to go to those piano lessons when I was younger rather than me quitting. I´m trying to make up for that today by learning guitar on my own whilst I´m in my twenties although I know I´m never going to get as good as I´ve could have when I was 12. Doesnt hurt trying though...

It is my favorite rendition in the entire series, but it is also my favorite Rainbow Road track in the series. You did an absolutely incredible job with this medley. Keep up the great work as always.
