Lyrics:
Machine gun
Tearing my body all apart
Machine gun
Tearing my body all apart
Evil man make me kill ya
Evil man make you kill me
Evil man make me kill you
Even though we're only families apart
Well I pick up my axe and fight lik a bomber
(you know what I mean)
Hey and your bullets keep knocking me down
Hey I pick up my axe and fight like a bomber now
Yeah but you still blast me down to the ground
The same way you shoot me down baby
You'll be going just the same
Three times the pain
And your own self to blame
Hey machine gun
Oooooooooo
I ain't afraid of your mess no more, babe
I ain't afraid no more
After a while your your cheap talk don't evern cause me pain
So let your bullets fly like rain
'cause I know all the time you're wrong baby
And you'll be goin' just the same
Yeah machine gun
Tearing my family apart
Yeah yeah alright
Tearing my family apart
Don't you shoot him down
He's about to leave here
Don't you shoot him down
He's got to stay here
He ain't going nowhere
He's been shot down to the ground
Oh where he can't survive no no
Yeah that's what we don't wanna hear any more, alright
No bullets
At least here, huh huh
No guns, no bombs
Huh huh
No nothin', just let's all live and live
You know instead of killin'
Note for Note the best Hendrix tribute artist of all time..
This is truly a Jimi Hendrix experience
This is unbelievable. To cover this masterpiece by Hendrix by itself is so amazing. Let alone to nail it as close to Hendrix as humanity possible. Also credit to the bass player and drummer, they nailed it too!!! Absolutely phenomenal
Thank God for Randy Hansen keeping the spirit of Jimi Hendrix alive!
I have to admit I joked on this man on a different video, but never about his musical ability. Now I have to say I ask forgiveness for my childish comment as this is straight up perfection of Machine Gun, and I wouldn't have thought it even possible to bring that feeling out aside from Jimi. If that Japanese dude got a documentary on his lifelong pursuit of emulating Jimmy Page, we NEED to see this man's story! Please push for it. He's amazing.
SCARY listening to him play this, sounds so much like Jimi.
too much, i just heard this I crapped myself. I must have listened to the originals a 1000 times already (practicing this myself) I couldn't tell the difference....
It’s unbelievable close to Jimi....all his Jimi covers....
Even his own improvisations could be those of Jimi
Aquí está muy bien, pero a menudo sus improvisaciones dejan mucho que desear porque se alejan del estilo de Jimi Hendrix.
Even his vocals are just like Jimi’s
Hendrix was my era, This is emotional for me when I close my eyes and listen...
Who else comes this close to Hendrix? There are very very few attempts at playing Machine Gun covers and no one is as good as Randy Hansen. By a wide margin.
Hell yeah!
Wandering Wade ... you have never lie !! Damn he sounds just like Jimi
SRV liked to do things his own way. He would've had no problem if he wished to play close to Hendrix
check out retro lee lol
Darien Matheny retro lee is a legend.
So incredible... the guitar sound is as close to Jimi's as I've ever heard, and perfectly played. Randy H. is the complete Experience Tour, no need for any other guitarist/acts.
when Jimi played , he was having an experience ,on a journey where he was happy and content. Randy is the same.
This Brother straight up summoned Jimi’s spirit from another dimension
I’ve never seen a real possession until tonight
I have never heard someone capture Jimi's tone as good as this. His effects are spot on. Even his vocals are amazing. The way his voice breaks up during the high parts is just like the Fillmore East recordings.
This guy is SCARY good! 😱 🤘
When I close my eyes it's Jimi and the Band of Gypsys. I once wrote to Ufo Walter he said " ( when Randy plays Jimi something resides in his soul)", I guess it's the spirit of Jimi.
@@morphinlounge101 Yeah, just listening to Randy without watching the video is very telling. I can't tell the difference! I sense that too, I think there is the spirit of Jimi involved here as well.
Have to give a shout out to Ufo Walter for nailing the Buddy Miles falsetto harmonies with Randy! Totally spot as well...fantastic!!
it’s not note for note but the feel and the tone!
Randy hansen is the greatest tribute band of all time!
This dude BLISTERS this song, it's like Jimi never died. Thanks Randy and crew for your incredible sound that walks right out of the 60's when music was an experience.
You've got that right! Everything I've seen Randy do is so phenomenal, spot on Jimi's playing AND singing! His version of "Who Knows" is exactly the same...damn impressive! He's keeping Jimi's music alive and breathing here in 2023, what a musical treasure.
Definitely keeping the fHENDRIX fame alive.....
He even improvises like Hendrix. Not simply an impersonator.
I just don't believe it,the closest to jimi the whole band wow incredible gracias.🤞✌️😎🗽👑
If you can Come closer to Hendrix than this it must be a twin. Jesus almighty Randy Hansen
Best tribute ever. ❤️
I've seen many many live videos of The Randy Hanson Band, nobody can do what they do. This a full respect for Jimmy Hendrix. They are a time machine hendrix experience.
Best Hendrix cover I have ever seen!
Well ... Machine Gun was Hendrix's true masterpiece and Randy Hansen just completely nailed it. This is an almost superhuman feat -- to play that piece sooooo close to the original. No-one can match Randy's tribute. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks mate!
so unreal - Randy is like a reincarnation - 🙏🏿
Dude!!! What in the flying f!!!! This song is legendary for it’s Jimi Flow (insanely hard to replicate) This man is a Jimi Savant!! And I second that on the vocals who freaking can do this??!!! Who can add all the subtleties like moving his mouth away to duplicate Jimi spot on while playing live??!!
Where not worthy!
Randy’s the real thing , scary really. Totally captures jimmy’s tone, feel , cadence, head space, you name m Randy owns it.
Incredible Strat lead sound
Loves that he puts in that Berkley Machine Gun part that wasn't played at the Fillmore.
Close your eyes and it's Jimi...
Even more amazing than the guitar playing, is the fact that he sounds just like him when he sings I mean it’s scary!! Dudes singing voice is spot on jimi
Puta que pariuu. Demais!
Do you think he stays in jimi character when he is interviewed?
@@360XDxboxI've seen interviews with him. He doesn't put on any kind of an act.
Machine Gun has long been my favourite Hendix performance. This was a MAGNIFICENT recreation of that legendary performance.
Randy captures Jimi’s soul and essence in his playing more than any person has. 🙏🏽
High praise 🙌🏽🎸
Randy is damn near the living spirit of Jimi.
I've been playing drums for over 40 years. The drummer is a match for Mitch. Sir, you can play drums a dream. Salute to you, sir.
Almost unbelievable. Randy and the band damn near play it note for note. He's been at it for 45 years or so non-stop. I give him an A+ rating.
A*😁😁👍🏻👍🏻✨✨🎇🎇 better
That's why Jimi my Guitar Hero is still alive in Randy Hansen... how Groovy is that PEOPLE... you got to see Randy Hansen do it live omg Man !!!
Just come across this on my feed while smoking a nice blunt, I'm a huge hendrix fan, machine gun is my favourite track and you know what version, this is nice👌 fantastic playing, very very nice😁
glad someone is keeping the guitar alive..jimiwould be proud
Randy Hanson has been channeling Jimi a long time. I saw him open Oakland's July 4th 1980 day on the green with the Star Spangled Banner.
The best reincarnation of Hendrix`s music
The amount of dedication that goes into this is unbelievable. Randy Hansen is a great guitarist , but to capture the sound of not only Hendrix' playing but Hendrix' voice, appearance, gestures ,and dare I say soul. Is a remarkable feat. My hat and bandana are off to you ,Randy Hansen. Peace ✌️
This is indeed a cover of absolute quality. Brilliant performance.
Just badass!!
Literaly the best knock-off you can get of hendrix
Randy is so underrated and unappreciated by the mainstream he could have held his own in a guitar battle against Prince, or Stevie Ray Vaughan any day!.
Bloody hell this is brilliant
Possibly the best guitarist in the world, and best band. Simply stunning...
If you thumbd down Hanson....you just dont get it...that's all.
Beautiful.
This is a glorious tribute to Jimi, Randy embodies Jimi!
Holy Crap.I hope he gets to play at the Crossroads Festival .and all the famous celebrations of this music .He has seriously reconnected me with the greatness of Jimi Hendrix.AAAAWWWWEEEESSSOOOMMMME
I AGREE! DATS KEEAWSOME!
Jimi would love this guy, great job.
Ron Carter
Stevie Ray Too!!
yep
MASTERPIECE
Why is he not on the experience Hendrix tour with Eric Johnson, the dude from indigenous, Kenny Wayne, Billy Cox, Chris Layten, etc...? Randy should be headlining that thing. He is as close to Jimmys playing style and tone as you could get.
Check out Jimmys version of Machine gun at the Isle of Wight I think the DVD is called wild blue angel. Very unfortunate that UA-cam doesn't have any clips of that concert. It's arguably his best concert ever. peace
If Randy was on the Experience Hendrix tour they wouldn't need anyone else. Randy is the ONLY MOTHERFUCKER that can hang when it comes to Hendrix.
good question I hadn't thought about that Doyle Bramhall II does several of Jimis tunes but Randy should be on there NO DOUBT!!!!! Maybe he would upstage everyone else - dunno!
experience hendrix is run by the greedy janie hendrix, randy probably knows shes a scumbag and doesnt want to be affiliated with her.
Mercy, this performance is crazy. The only thing that was a major difference is the BOG footage showed Jimi stood still (hi note toe stands and leg shuffles) digging in and laying sound flames and Randy did the "can you see me" moves.
If anybody is allowed to play this masterpiece, especially this band of gypsys version, then it's Randy!
This is really scary...plays, sounds and has Jimi movements...scary...this guy is unbelievable!!!
I don't think there is any body better past or present ......SRV of course....but this..especially this version is eerily amazing......he's been doing this for 40 years 😲🤘🔥
This song more than any other captures the horror of the American war in Vietnam.
This song so heavy than any metal song
Le "machine gun" de "Band of Gypsy's" est sans doute le plus grand solo de Jimi.
Had I heard this over the radio & someone told me this wasn't Hendrix I would've told them they're wrong & gotten in an argument with them. Even watching the video briefly i would've easily dismissed it as the film negative being reversed. This guy really has Jimi nailed on just about everything especially the voice. The guitar compared to Jimi..... well that would depend on just how juiced up Jimi was on occasion playing on stage, he definitely had good nights & bad nights. I'm going to give Randy a 95% on the guitar work. I'd absolutely place him under Jimi at #3 with SRV at the top (10 yrs ago you never would've gotten that statement out of me)
It is inspiring and makes me want to play my guitar some more. I have a lot of equipment and I can play overly loud and I’ve been in bands before but I forgot about it after watching this Randy Hansen stuff I feel like I’m gonna dust off my old guitar, and start playing some more.
Oh my god he is amazing i have been to alot of concerts but Randy Hansen i want to see these guys live so bad i hope they are still playing in 2023 or 24 and they come to connecticut sometime in the future .😊
The Band is alive and well as of 12/11/2023 and plays every gig he can get locally here in Washington State. Randy still tours a lot in Germany and Europe each year with the bass player and drummer seen here and in the US when touring (some) of the states he has a couple of American guys as part of his Band. He also lives in Seattle, Washington only a short distance from where Jimi grew up and where Jimi is now buried. I can tell you as a fact that Randy Hansen is the nicest most down to Earth person you could possibly hope to meet and after shows he always takes the time to meet the people who came to his show. I have seen him 6 times starting in 1979 and this performance is the best I have ever heard him play. No one can play all of Jimi's songs like this man.
Wow, what a great performance!
i was amazed by the accuracy of the hendrix tone, then he started singing and i was convinced its jimi in disguise wtff
Longtime fan of Randy's but I've never seen this video before - just outstanding, he's caught the spirit of Hendrix better than anyone and its caught him too!
No one can do Jimi Hendrix music better than Randy Hansen, he's dedicated his whole career to mastering Jimi's sound, I'm so grateful we have him to keep JIMI's music alive.🎸 HE'S EVEN MASTERED HIS VOICE, AMAZING 😎👍🇺🇲
Perfect, just like in the old days.
Absolutely, positively amazing. Jimi is still with us.....
Hendryx si e reincarnato in questo grande chitarrista, complimenti da un fans del dio hendyx,da un 75enne italiano
Heard a lot of people playing Hendrix he is by far the best including the voice
By the way … all you who saw Hendrix live…don’t ever say God didn’t give you anything
only randy Henson can play Hendrix like Hendrix outstanding playing no words☺️
I totally agree with you. I saw Randy Hansen when I was 21 years old in Portland Oregon. I actually walked up and he shook my hand. I asked him what kind of pick ups he is. They said they were stock he went on later in the show to talk about the guitar that somebody build from him out of a vintage piece of lumber it was a great show. He got on the tables or people were drinking and he stormed all over the tables and jammed and everybody loved it. Randy Hansen is awesome.
The best cover of this track.
No one attemps this track.
JEEEZUSSS! Close my eyes and it is Jimi playing this! This guy is scary good at the Jimi thing!
This is AWESOME!!!!
Oh to hear that guitar scream and cry for it's in a place where i could die ✌
I hear it! Fillmore and very excelent finish
Randy's "live" tone is incredible !
it sounds like hendrix is singing through randy hansen he sounds identical to hendrix?
He has to be overdubbed or something, this is nutts!
Not identical but pretty similar.
Superficially it does, but it's an empty sermon to my ears. The primal fire of creating this in the moment in that time cannot be duplicated. Its easy for us, now close to 50 years in the future, to know what tones/techniques express which emotions, but with Jimi you have to think backwards; what was the emotional vocabulary and awareness he had to possess in order to CREATE those tones?
@@brandonterzic The social milieu maybe... but Gotdamn even if Jimi were alive he would probably not sound as good as he was back in '69. Everyone fades. Randy Hansen is one of those tribute artists I wish to see in my lifetime, screaming loud.
@@skunkproductionsMLA Well its like Ornette Coleman said: " you can transcribe the solo, but you can't transcribe the environment"
Jimi reborn - no-one is better than Randy. I’ve seen him in Hamburg ages ago, and it was absolutely fuckin’ marvellous !
This done Jimi proud
THIS GUY IS AWESOME.....HE'S KEEPING JIMI ALIVE....WOW....
Randy is a bad guy. The best I've heard of anybody that played Machine Gun.
Randy, I'd love to hear what Jimi would sound like today? Wow man, could you write some new music inspired by Hendrix. You are awesome. Hendrix lives on, Thanks.....
Randy brought out some CDs with own compositions. "Funtown" was the last.
Unfortunately nobody can copy Jimi Hendrix mind
Saw Randy Hansen a looong time ago. Couldn't hear right for days! No joke! A lot of integrity and talent. Surprised and happy he is still performing!
great version, all three insane, bass, drums, vocals, the spirit of JH still there.
Magnificent! Superb! Jimi smiles...
I feel like this isn’t even an attempt to sound like Hendrix, this dude is a straight appendage! 😂
Randy Handson by far is the ONLYEE ONE ON EARTH (that I have ever heard cover this particular song) 🎯🎯🎯🎯 "MACHINE GUN." NOT ONLY GUITAR BUT VOCAL WISE AS WELL‼️
I fact, if you closed you eyes and listen YOU WOULD NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HE AND JIMI HENDRIX.
Awesome. He really likes playing the guitar. Great rhythm section.
Randy blows me away.
Mesmerising!!...And "scary" how close he is to Jimi Hendrix, even the voice!
Stumbled upon this. Others have tried, Randy Hansen NAILED Machine Gun, which I have always felt is the greatest rock guitar solo ever. Bravo!
This a big song to take on. Maybe the biggest. Exceptional cover done live. Kind of blew me away tbh. /cheer!
It's like he's channeling Jimi from beyond
Ol Randy is still doing the best Jimi impersonation around. Man, he hasit ALL down, voice, mannerisms, and of course the guitar playing. This2016 version seems just a little bit slower than his earlier version, alsohere on YT. My hat's off to you, bra…………… ...... ..
Good but Jimi still he king.
INCREDIBLE !!! SIMPLY THE BEST AT GETTING JIMIs sounds and spirit
Can you imagine Jimi and Randy gigging be out of this world
No one gets closer to this song than this guy!
Ok…one of the biggest jimi fans and this guy kills it like what the fuck it’s Mimi’s voice if jimi was alive this version would be it!
