I like to think that the statue wasn't made by Nagato at all, but by the Village.
Iirc they *loved* Pein.
It makes sense to me that, in gratitude for him making them such a sprawling metropolis, they made that statue for him to say thanks. And that's why he sits there, to remind himself why he does what he does.

As for Pein, he is publicly the Village Leader, their Kage so to speak. He was also worshipped as a God due to his insane power, understandably so.
Koran was also very public with her Paper Angel persona.
I think you could actually do hydroponic agriculture pretty easily with excess rain. Collect it at the top of your buildings, send it through pipes that trickle out the right amount per day, and your vertical farm prospers. It's relatively new irl, I think... but technically plausible... I think.

Hydroponics was my first thought as well. Given the limited land space and fairly abundant supply of water it makes sense.
Your theory makes alot of sense because after Nagoto passed, the hidden rain village fell apart. I would to be that much of a stretch to for it the structure of the hidden rain to be summoning. Especially to nagatos if you factor in Naguto being an Uzumaki.
Conversations between villager suggest that their God is always watching. I don't know about but nagoto would have to have something beyond human potential to be regarded as god

I don’t know a lot about the anime but isn’t the deva path of pain yahikos body that is controlled by nagato and also I thought hanzo locked himself away in fear of the akatsuki? The crossout on the headband means you hold no allegiance as a shinobi to your home village and considered a rogue ninja of the village. So no anyone that has their headband crossed out is no longer a shinobi of their village with no allegiance to said village nd would be part akatsuki mercenary group as their the only group with their headband crossed out like that
If the rain sells their rain to the sand village, they could even give stone or some type of cement in return to help build waterproof buildings

Regarding the Ashura Path, the Uzumaki Clan and their special chains are both metal ability that comes out of nowhere, kind of like Kaguya's bone manipulation and the Hagoromo's black rods that they both shoot out of their palms. Their could be a genetic connection between them all.
There is a connection there all decedent's of the otsutsuki
Uzumaki's chains dont seem to be metal abilities , there doesn't seem to be a change in form just a shape change of the users chakra. That's how they also work as chakra seals within the user's body too

I think the statue was just Pain's part of keeping up the image of him being revered as a god, or maybe its the village's homage to him. A question I have based off this video tho. If the hidden rain was trying to be an isolated nation, why did they send shinobi to the chunin exams?

A very interesting theory.
I think the tall buildings and high population density in the Hidden Rain Village is also caused by the history of the Land of Rain being used as battlefield for the great power. Meaning that the people from the villages in the Land of Rain would flee to the city aka the Hidden Rain Village.
I think that the collapse of the Hidden Rain after the 4th World War was caused by Pain's and Konan's death. They've build a totalitarian regime where they were revered as a God and Angel respectively. And when both died, there would've been a huge power vacuum. The anti-Pain rebels would've wanted to take power and the Pain loyalists had no one to command them so the entire village collapsed in civil war and was abandoned.

Was it a summoning? The statue kind of looks like him. I feel like he just used transformation jutsu to grow really huge by using his access to the gedo statue for chakra. Then, he used the ashura path to make the statue of himself. This video was inetresting, never thought about this.

That's a good point about the rinnegan, it's whole point is to change the world, assuming through peace and prosperity, Sasuke has to be the worse user of it.
Your rationale for why the village might have always been that sophisticated is pretty sound but the main reason I disagree is because, if it was always that architecturally advanced, I think they would have became a sort of respectable exporter of materials across the shinobi world, and they wouldn’t have hosted their wars across the village. Their land was probably fought over *because* it was a wet and soggy, depressing, oversized country-town village in the bum-fuck middle of nowhere that became motivated to develop after the wars, to prevent being the battlefield for greater villages.
Now it’s possible that they only started developing smaller technology like the breathers during the wars and really bolstered after them, but I don’t think the industrial skyscrapers were made until recently. EDIT: Which I think is what you’re saying, now that I think about your points again…

probably unique special ability like every rinnegan user gets. madara limbo, sasuke switching places, momo releasing absorbed jutsu etc
@@slat364 Might be due to adamantine chains that all Uzamaki must inherently understand how to use, a manifestation of the fact he's a very strong Uzamaki allowing him mechanization.
They were so powerful they didn't needed those other abilities.

It is canon, as far as I am aware, that summoning requires a contract with an entity that exists on the planet. So it couldn't have been a mechanized summon; it would have to be a summon that was then mechanized.
And, as far as I am aware, no creature is that big except the tailed beasts (specifically the tentails).

I saw their development more as a consequence of environment and availability. Like you mentioned suna and konoha. Well, fun fact, you kinda can't build anything in suna out of wood or metal because A, there isn't any, it's a desert, and B, sand kind of weathers away anything that isn't sandstone. Now konoha, they have really nice weather and a lot of trees, thanks hashirama, so they build out of wood and lanterns because they don't need anything better. Rain on the other hand, doesn't have anything and extremely harsh weather all year round. If you built out of wood or stone, you would constantly have to be rebuilding. And you need neon because any fires would instantly go out. So stainless steel and neon are literally your only options other than moving

FUN FACT: according to Kishimoto, Naruto world's technology (from the beginning of the manga) was on par with our world's technology. The only difference being that the shinobi world didn't develop guns/gun powder (or computers, iirc). They have everything else, meaning any and all technology up to WWII. That means they had television technology. Whether they utilized it is another question.

So one thing I’ve wondered is why there’s not an Amekage or whatever the title would be. It’s clearly, at least historically, a village that’s on par with the other villages, and it’s recognized as a hidden village, so why doesn’t it have a kage? And I get that it’s a small nation, sure, but that’s why they don’t have a daimyo - or at least I assume they don’t. Honestly I think it would’ve given Shippuden an interesting extra layer if Pain wasn’t just Lord Pain but Lord Amekage.
I like that idea that the building he says on was a summoning. I thought it was because it was the tallest one in the village giving him the most reach for the jutsu to know what’s going on through the rain, help with intruders & controlling the six paths puppets with the most range
