Such a beautiful ornament to pass down through the generations. I just love how you changed your mind and made the medallions. This ornament makes me feel the spirit of Christmas and the warmth of Home and Family. I can almost hear the crackling of the fire in the fireplace and Mom calling us kids to dinner. She would have loved your work just as much as I do.

+Edward Reed Thank you Edward! at first I was going to make them smaller and fit all of them inside, but then I thought it will be an awful waste of space, so I made them larger, so I needed a large base, when I was planing on something much smaller, so I'll have a place to put them, it was an evolution.

Thank you for the high praises Mark! Sadly I only won second place, which was fine (even though I thought I should get first). I made it up the year after where I did win first place, but didn't get my prize because the American sponsor didn't agree to ship my prize to Italy, even though the contest was open to world wide participants, and not even when I asked to pay for the shipping myself... I think that was the last year they ran the ornament competition.

In your opening captions you always state that you are not a professional turner.
Well, I have to tell you now that this is the finest piece of turning I've seen after watching about 500 UA-cam videos during the past 5 years or so.
And your artistic flair is just amazing.

In fact you made me think, what does define a professional wood turner? is it a certificate from some institue saying so? is it when you sold your first item? when you've earned the respect of your peers? I wouldn't know, since I've never done anything other than watch youtube videos, learn from them, and try out what I see, and maybe give it a little bit of my own tastes and ideas... Maybe it's something the person feels for himself, maybe I should change that text to say that I am an eternal student myself, always learning, always improving, but who knows what debate that will bring :)
This is exceptional. I am a civilian contractor working on an airbase in the Persian Gulf. I have one more year hear and then I will retire and build my shop. I have done some turning in the past and your videos have really encouraged me to do a lot more but I can see how much I have to learn.

That is really nice. When you were making the stand I was waiting for that tree limb to hit your arm as it was spinning on the lathe. That was really close.
As we work and learn to move and operate in our work space we become very special aware, but still, we need to be extra careful, better man then me lost fingers and limbs. Just be safe!!

Hi Yuval, your ornament is absolutely beautiful and I love that it can cover all the different religious holidays by changing the pieces. I have tried to find the little lamp or something similar that you use. Can you let us know where you found that. I would love to try to make this but don't want to start until I can find the little lighting piece. Thanks, Tina
Thank you Tina! About the lamp, I found it in a general store, it was attached to a clip that holds this little lamp on your glasses, for reading in bed at night... something like this (actually, exactly this!):

For the past couple of weeks leading to Christmas, I have been looking at all the different videos on ornaments, angels and so forth. After watching your video, I am convinced this is the type of gift I would like to give family and friends. Such a great imaginative idea and very unique. One question about the light. after all the gluing, does the switch handle unscrew to expose and replace the battery. Thanks for sharing such a talent! Merry Christmas.

And to answer your question, it does, if you unscrew the top to the other direction it will open the little torch up for replacing the battery, although it is so delicate and hard to close back up I wouldn't do it happily :) Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!

It's a YT channel and I didn't notice it before but they did actually put your name in the corner of the video. I don't know if that makes a difference to you. I personally still feel like it's stealing views and I know I wouldn't be too thrilled myself. You are right though I did misspell it. It's Hanh TV, and they cut things out and added music so I might've made a bigger deal of it than it is? but still... a link to your channel at least would've been something.
Searched for Hanh TV on youtube, didn't find them, might be they uploaded enough content not their own that they were taken down, I personally was part of taking at least 20 channels over the past few months that uploaded other people content. It sucks.
Where can I find the light that you used I use to have a olive growing property got all I needed but now I moved so running out love the colors that show up

Now that is impressive! I had to watch again. Really enjoyed. Just a suggestion, talk more and tell us your thoughts and less music. Just my preference.trying to figure out how to replace battery?
Thank you Joey! The quantity of explanations in my videos vary depending on my mood, sometimes I just don't feel like talking while I'm working, I'm sure you know the feeling... To replace the battery you just continue spinning the top in the "switch off" position direction and it screws off completely.
