Hey Tofazfou love this video and based on what you said I pulled the trigger on the new upgraded version of the one you have called the Air Venturi Krypton...and it arrives tomorrow! I will update you with my thoughts on it in a couple months...thanks brother Tofaz for all your wonderful contributions the airgun world over the years. You the Man! :) All the best, Chuckster636
It is a very nice little compressor for the money. But lets visit the dark side for a moment. I own a small airgun store and bought this compressor for my store to charge tanks and guns for my customers. First it arrived badly beaten up by UPS but all the damage appeared to be cosmetic. Air Venturi offered a replacement but since they were out of stock (again) at the time and I had waited about 4 months for the compressor, I elected to keep it and just straighten what I could of the sheet metal and frame. I kept a very accurate log of use. Changed the oil at 10 hours just to be sure that any metal that may have been in the housing and shaken loose in the first hours of use were gone. It performed exceptionally well, charging a 66 cuft cylinder from zero to 4500 psi in exactly 57 minutes virtually every time. I did have two burst discs fail in the first 10 hours of use but I suspect they are not the highest quality discs around. At 12 hours the airline started leaking at the filter infeed. I discovered the existing seal was virtually impossible to remove and replace so I inserted a delrin ring in front of the seal and eliminated the leak nicely. At 46 hours, while charging a tank, I suddenly had a free running motor and zero compression. At this point the compressor was out of warranty. I pulled the covers and discovered that the drive shaft had sheard straight across the diameter of the shaft. The break is so clean it almost looks like a cut. I contacted Air Venturi and after a few email communications they offered to repair the compressor if I wanted to send it to them, or they would send me the parts for the repair. I elected to have them send the parts since shipping time, cost of crating the thing up, and cost of shipping it would mean both time and expense that I did not want to incur. Within 7 days I received a complete armature assembly, including new bearings. Unfortunately (or fortunately , depending on perspective) I had decided to really tear this machine down in the interim and now also needed a seal to replace a cracked seal on the high compression piston. Again, Air Venturi sent me both the parts and the installation tool at no charge. So now it has been out of commission for about 15 days and after installing the piston seal I decided to change the seals in the high compression head. This is when I discovered that the high pressure check valve in the head was neatly broken in two pieces. So clean a break that it was undetectable with the valve in place but when I lifted it out for cleaning I got two pieces instead of one. And AGAIN, Air Venturi did right by me and is sending that check valve at no cost to me, except the time lost with the machine out of service. Meantime, not comfortable with the idea of not having a way to do fills for my customers, I bought a gas powered SCUBA quality compressor. Had adventures with that machine too, but that is another story. SO what's the bottom line. This little compressor is a platform that is sold in multiple configurations under numerous brand names and all come out of the same factory in China. There are differences depending on who is marketing them and what spec they have ordered on their particular version. But, if you have the money for a higher end compressor, and especially if your compressor is going to see a significant amount of run time, spend the extra money. There is nothing wrong with these compressors for casual use (and by that I mean maybe 1-2 hours of run time per week max), but I would not suggest one for anyone who was going to realistically have more run time than that. Even the SCUBA compressor I bought is a cheap knock-off of a Bauer (at half the price) and I've had to do a lot of adjusting a tweaking to get it operating efficiently. I don't expect a lot of hours out of it but since it takes an 88 cuft tank from 2500 up to 4500 psi in about 7 minutes, a charge that takes about 35 minutes on the AV compressor, I don't expect to log a lot of hours. You get what you pay for and in a machine that has to endure the stresses of a high pressure compressor so you should buy the most machine you can afford.
Thanks Cedric...I did a lot of reading and watching trying to decide which compressor to buy. In the end I decided on the AV compressor, and you have reassured me that I’m going to make a good decision.
NT, they are really good buy IMO. I personally know about 6 guys with them and only one of us has had any type of issues. Which knowing him, IS USER ERROR!! LMAO
Great info. I’ve had mine for well over 1 year and I am also happy to report no issues. I’m currently due for another oil change. I will also take a look at the filter thanks to your video. Keep them coming.
4:00 HAHAHAHAHA I just cant help but laugh at the situation I had vs yours. Yeah, so the cap on the housing was so locked in place, that I had to make a my wrench into a breaker bar and I needed someone to hold the housing for dear life, as the housing probably would have ripped off the unit. LOL
I have had one for over a year now and have had a few issues. 1: Popped the burst disc twice now ant it wasn't even at the 4500 psi. 2 Took almost 45 min to get all the filter pieces out, it tore completely into strands and stuck in the bottom. 3 It was over heating until I went to synthetic oil and removed all the schrouds and added another fan and ice to the water.
Looks like your really enjoying the compressor Cedric! (On a side note, the modded molds worked better than expected. Exactly what the Rainstorm needed. turns out the bbl. is 1 in 14 and 3/16" so very close to our TJ's) Thank You Sir! ;
It’s crazy what they are charging to fill tanks now. Even if it’s a small backpack tank it’s still full price to get it filled. I’m might just have to invest in a compressor.
Good vid, Ced. I am glad to see that yours, Hunter One's and Vince Edward's are still going strong. Unfortunately I did get a lemon and as you know it's back at Air Venturi with Jordan getting repaired. I hope to have it back soon. Then I'll give my 2 cents on my unit. I'd like to have a new replacement, but I think it'll be better to get my original unit fixed so I can have a comparison and see if it is working better.
I 100% agree with ya brotha. Hate to hear about issues but EVERY unit won't come from the factory PERFECT. Hate it happened to you and hate it happened at all. But we all look forward to hearing your review...........
Take the side cover OFF on the side the pistons are on and put a Blower shooting air at them and temperature will not go above 50C and that's from 0 to 4000 PSI and you can hold your hand on the piston head no problem. Keep it cool and change the oil and it will last you. With the cover on and a blower about 64C. This is a hour and a half run non stop.
At first it was great but after couple months of once twice a week it died. It wouldn't even get to 3000psi. It's in the shop getting fixed hopefully it happens fast.
Hey Tofazfou. Thanks for the vid. I have had mine a year and love it too. What do you use as coolant? Your lines look a little purple? I use distilled water but nervous of corrosion.
Yo Cedric, been thinking about getting this AV compressor as my Omega is on the fritz again. Do you know if the AV will work with a Diablo Air Dryer hooked between the compressor and the tank or have you ever tried it? Thanks in advance!
so for 1200 dollars you are very impressed?? where did you get it at?? I need a larger one to fill tanks , I have the nomad ii but it is only good for my gun which is okay because Im am just a beginner but I am moving up . thanks
What is an estimate of the number of tank top off do you think you have done. I don't shoot alot but my tank expires this year so maybe I should get one.
in your next vid on this your compressor is lock,d up i use full synthetic and the oil should never ever turn black chang it more keep it clean also use 50/50 distilled water and antifreeze to avoid freezing and corrosion that is with any liquid cooled any thing

GREAT update Ced! I got mine about a month before you got yours and I share your endorsement of the unit. Keep the great videos coming!
Thanks for the input Vince. Much appreciated by all. THanks for stopping buy my brotha

Thanks H1. Im interested in how your filter looks. See ya on da next 1
Good to know Ced. I've had mine for 4 months now. No problems at all. Thanks for your first video on it. That's what sold me. 👍
Whats up RICH?!?!?! Good to see ya here and AWESOME report on your compressor. I really appreciate the fact that my opinion helped in your purchase.
Thanks for the update. A compressor is my next investment. I'm open ears to any opinions.

Excelente actualización!!!! Siempre atento a sus videos y opiniones tan valiosas. Gracias Amigo! : )
Good background info on oil etc. I would be sure to change oil more often or on schedule to avoid premature wear.

Can you please repeat that part on how to remove the cap

nice update big homie, what are thoughts on those smaller compressors ? benjiman, air arms I think, there all portable around $800 ..
Hey GEE-DUB, good to see ya here. Not too keen on the benjamin and air arms compressors. I appreciate your stopping by
I would put that used filter in the oven and toast it on warm for a couple hours and reuse it.
Nice video thank you
Thank you very much
