    Thanks for watching guys. I know this workshop series isn't the most popular, but I'm almost there! I'll be back to restoring the car's on this channel and the antiques on my second channel very soon. Starting on the engine restoration tomorrow. I have all of the parts ready and a local company to do the machining. Stay tuned!

    Be careful with the cable for the heater. Do not coil it up. With a high current draw like a heater the cable will get extremely hot and can then melt the insulation and cause a short circuit and a fire. Great work.

    Hi, I really enjoy your channel and your work is amazing but I see a bit of a problem with your extraction system. I make extraction canopies for catering establishments so I have some experience but by all means not an expert. My concern is that your three fan set up is not going to work efficiently. The two outside fans will blow directly against the back of the collector box as the and will not suck air. The middle fan is the only one that will work. You need to create a manifold system, have a funnel shape collector box so the air can move into one air stream or else just use one fan only. Think of air flow like water flow. You currently have two stagnant pools one each side of a moving stream. You only need one fan on a Hood that size anyway as you need to replace air going out with fresh air going in or you'll have no suction at all. All that aside, I really love this channel and your work is amazing.

    • @RestoreIt
      @RestoreIt  5 років тому

      Thanks for the info Adrian, i was thinking this. I will buy two more ports and try to find a three to one pipe thing.

    • @adrianco1978
      @adrianco1978 5 років тому

      @@RestoreIt looking at your fans, I'm guessing that they are roughly 400 mm or so. You have way too much suction . You'll have to work with the doors open in order to let the air flow effectively. I would even think that if you run with the doors closed and lit a candle that it would go out because you are sucking all the air out of the room. I've seen it myself before with cookers .the gas will go out because there isn't enough air in the room. My advice is to remove the top collector and blank off the two side fans and let the middle fan do all the work. You have far more than you need in one fan.

  • @gregoryyount6907

    With the exhaust system as designed, you are creating a positively pressurized plenum at the fan(s) discharge. The exhaust air is going to want to take the path of least resistance, and will likely leak at all the joints. The entire structure may also bow outwards, depending on the output of the three propeller fans. You may have been better off creating a plywood structure, somewhat shallower, to mount your filters, and placing the exhaust fan at the point of discharge (on the roof?). I suspect that the bare gypsum board will also develop mold/mildew on the outer paper surface/inside of filter box. Maybe a mildew preventing paint?
    I hope it works for you. Sorry if I sound negative.

    Any particular reason why sheetrock was used for the extractor instead of plywood?

    • @Malligmallan
      @Malligmallan 5 років тому

      I think it comes down to the price and that sheetrock is easy to work with (cut, saw, seal). And that he could use the leftover pieces from when he made the walls for the booth. Just my theory

    • @RestoreIt
      @RestoreIt  5 років тому +3

      I did indeed have loads left over from the walls. But also, wood will absorb the wood over time, become flammable and blow up. Plasterboard wont do this. So, i only have to seal the wood supports and not the whole thing.
