One thing that sets Shirley apart from anyone else is Linda Henry. Linda is just fantastic and makes Shirley so believable, she's rough, raw and unapologetic. The writers actually write to Linda's strengths and that's why Shirley is such a good character. She'll be back, better and stronger. Enjoy your break Linda, we miss you already.

Well that wraps up EastEnders for 2022! It has been a great year for the show, with the ratings being the highest of any soap on Christmas Day, the show is looking to be right on track to how it was pre-pandemic. Can’t wait for 2023 EastEnders!

I'm glad they wrote Shirley to say goodbye to Jean, it was an unlikely friendship that ended up working. Nice to see Shirley and Denise end up becoming friends too.

This is an understatement but Shirley has endured so much turmoil she really needs and break from the show. She is one of the strongest, caring, thoughtful, and loyal of characters and sadly in return, she has no happiness.
