Yes, there is a crafting thrift store in Lancaster County PA, called Art of Recycle. It is the best place ever!! If you ever get out this way, you really should check it out.
Yes, it’s called a capsule wardrobe. No, there are not a whole lot of craft thrift stores in the US. Which is why I want to open one in the Dallas area.
I live about 1 hour from Remainders. I've been there once for about 20 minutes while visiting Huntington Library. You are inspiring me to make a field trip.
Late to the party (as usual), my trick for at least approximate measurement of yardage is if I hold one end in my left fingertips, then stretch the fabric across my body to the crease in my right armpit, that’s exactly a yard. My granny did it that way. But we are a tribe of small people, your 1 yard points of measurement may vary!
I measure various things in a similar way, if I hold it and stretch my arms that's almost exactly 1.5 meters because armspan of any given person is very close to their height. I'm 160 cm, but if I account for having to bend my fingers to hold what I'm measuring it ends up being remarkably close to 1.5m. (and for conversions, 1 meter is just over 1 yard)
I had no idea that crafting thrift stores were even a thing, so thank you for introducing me to this!! I just got into sewing this year, so this looks like a great way to get supplies without breaking the bank!
Reconsidered Goods in Greensboro, NC is amazing...not only art/crafting thrift...but, things for home, too. Also, Shelf Life Art Supplies in Greensboro may be open online only now (they had closed for a while). I also LOVE crafting thrift stores...and have a room in my house I affectionately and imaginatively call "my studio". It's an Aladdin's Cave of artsy/craftsy/sewing goodness.
My two favorite craft thrift stores are Make & Mend in Somerville Massachusetts US and Thistle Creative Reuse in Denton Texas US. They are both in person and online though things tend to go fast online. I like to check their websites when they do weekly updates and just window shop
There's a really good crafting thrift store in Sebastapol called Legacy. It's about an hour north of San Fransisco. I wish I could get there more often....... cheers and enjoy always.
You are SO lucky! What a wonderful resource Remainders is 🤩 I am about to research whether we have ANY fabric thrift stores at all in the UK... Wish me luck! 😊
While I had never heard crafting thrift stores, I do but a lot of my supplies at thrift shops. I'm not get anywhere near the deals you are getting but it's not completely horrible either. I'm still very much want a remainders near me.
I just googled "crafting thrift store" and there are... maybe 2 genuine (as opposed to non-crafting specific) ones in Michigan? Sorted by distance, the next closer were in Canada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
I can't decide if I should thank you or curse you for sending me on a search for crafting thrift stores because it turns out there's one not too far from me and I have zero storage space for more fabric.
Fun fact: doesn't exist that shop in Europe. At all. You must be lucky. (15$ is still too much for a bag of fabrics. Look like 15€ and that's too much. But a roll for 4€ pro Meter is nice)
There's one in San Francisco called SCRAP.

I wish we had thrift stores (craft) like you have in US unlike the UK
Amazing dress, amazing video…it’s so inspiring to watch you sewing and having fun with it.
In Eugene, Oregon, there is a store called Mecca that is somewhat similar . That was before the pandemic.
