My thoughts on the current Flanker for Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Fragrance which was launched in 1995. 25 years ago. It's been a long time when the original was created by Francis Kurkdjian but this version is created by Nathalie Gracia-Cetto and Quentin Bisch. But I'll tell I enjoy this version but there are a few minor issues with it. But it could seem not so minor to some folks. I love this fragrance, it's my favourite. I don't usually like JPG, to me they smell like gimmicks and childish. But this smells like what it's meant to be. Very nice 10/10
What I like about it is that the Iris doesn't smell like baby powder, and it combos perfectly with the lavender.
Performs super well on me, lasts longer than Ultra Male. Fallen in love with this scent :)

Got this back in October for my birthday from a friend. I really love it. Lasts ages on me and projection really good. My friend also loves it, the reason she bought it for me, she would even wear it herself. 10/10
From my experience with formulating fragrance. Parfum generally only amps up longevity(unless it's a citrus(high volatility based scent) in the case of Le Male Parfum it's par for the course that it wouldn't project. They removed 50+ percent of the aromatic/lift giving notes. Orange blossom, cumin, mint, etc they most likely even used a superior grade of lavender which gives a richer scent but less lift... More camphoric lavenders tend to lift the base notes... basically these "lifting" notes they removed act like the wind that carries the scent of a apple pie in the window sill. Lol (to give you a mental image). Take those away and you have a long lasting skin scent. Maybe try again after spray molecule 02 and/or 01 first on your skin. I like to use javanol/sandela/Dartanol accord to give lift and trail to my deep vanilla based formulas. Everyone digs a good sandalwood vanilla base.
The original now has more of a white musk drydown where it used to be more Tonka/Vanilla.
The new Parfum version is actually an eau de parfum. I wouldn’t take the “Parfum” term used for masculine fragrances too literally. I think it’s more about a feel than concertation. Anyway marketing found new ways to confuse consumers.
I'm a fan of JPG, but not as much as my girlfriend. She bought me this one after buying me the original for years and has already told me I'm getting Le Beau 2019, Ultramale AND Essence de Parfum for xmas!
Just bought JPG LMLP and its one of my favourite colognes now. Its better than le male original.
Def great... My favorite Le Male after the OG. Longevity and sillage is very good on me.

I bought Le Male right when it came out. Everyone was wearing it. I am not a fan of any of the flankers. I tried this one and was like : OK, not that interesting. But later on that day I constantly got a whiff of something delicious. It was Le Mal le parfum. The drydown is really nice and the vanilla is amazing. Great compliment getter, although weak Projektion and mediocre sillage.
I have over 100 fragrances. Niche designers and clones. I never had JPG. Finally decided to pickup. I got le parfum tester 4.2 for $67. Its smells amazing. I love the Iris and lavender in it. Amazing

I liked it until I woke up at one day and realized I'm wearing a frag that smells of pure bubble gum most of the way through lol. Great for a young guy though.
@theychiledkenny Mark has a lot of vanilla as well. It's a good frag It's just lacking awareness for someone my age that's all.

Received a bottle this week really nice along with the new Fahrenheit perfume brought back fond scent memories of my younger days but like myself all grown up and more mature,well at least the fragrances are Hmm ✌️

Dior Homme Parfum is double the price of Le Male Le Parfum, I'm sure they use a higher concentration and better quality oils in DHP.
Isn't a rule, is chemistry, if it is parfum it has less alcohol, then less volatility.
It smells like a perfect fusion of a bath and body store smell with the smell of a super smash bros tournament.
I put this on one hand and JPG Le Male Essence EDP on the other.
The latter is the only one I have from this house in my collection. This will continue to be the case. It obliterated it's little brother. It really did...
For me the opening is very different to the original, but I find the dry down very similar except no mint. But I prefer it as it’s warmer.
Like it disappointed with projection. For me vintage (I still have 70ml left) le male is a beast and a guilty pleasure

Hey Seb, its an Eau de Parfum "Intense" instead of a Parfum concentration :) Whatever EDP Intense is, german retailers list it only as EDP. Regards from Germany ✌️

totally agree with your review. When I first sprayed it. I didn't like it. It was feminine but after it dried down It gets this richness that smells great. But you're right it doesn't project that much and loses projection quickly. But it still smells really nice though.

It's EDP not Parfum concentration. I get pretty good performance from it and it smells very good, still prefer Pasha de Cartier Parfum over this one.

I like JPG Le Male the original. I like how I keep catching whiffs of it. It’s not a big performer but it lets me know it’s still there.

The original EDT is a nice soapy scent however Le Parfum is way better - it is delicious, luxurious, interesting...it just smells better and feels more expensive. Completely different scents when compared.
My first wearing was a relative disappointment in both scent and performance. Completely in line with the today's light, modern, designer "fuzz". Despite not really being a fan of Ultra Male or Eau Fraiche, I would easily take both over this one. Ditto with Essence de Parfum.
I agree 100% . is very nice but is very quiet. I prefer Ultra Male my distinguish over le Male le Perfume. my humble opinion
I still have a 2010 bottle at home and that one is like a boss fragrance lasts ages and projects for hours. My new 2020 bottle is a whimp it doesnt last nor project as hard.
A super scent but performance is really disappointing for me, as u said, it becomes a skin scent very quickly.
Heard of JPG and Le Male. Like his fashions. Keep wanting to try Scandal. And to smell Le Male that was created by Frances Kurkdjian as I love many FK creations.

Interesting what you say about Dior Homme Parfum. It’s also my favourite designer scent but I get very moderate projection - it’s more like a skin scent for me.

I bought one in 2019 and it's a bomb. Nothing I've ever came across is getting even close to it. For me this perfume could cost 500 and wouldn't be much for how it smells and how much lasts and projects. 2 spray last for 24 hours easily. On the clothes it lasts for days...

@@joyramzy1337 Only 'alternatives' and none of the ones I know are cheap. There is Montale Wood and Spices which is an intense, less floral version of it. It's a little more rough too. There is MFK APOM which is made by the same perfumer but this is in his private line. A few compare it to Amouage Reflection man but I don't get the similarity personally.

I found Le Male Le Parfum kind of... boring. I have several cardamom/vanilla fragrances and it didn’t really stand out enough. I prefer Le Male Essence de Parfum because it’s a little more bold thanks to presence of leather.
I'm a fan!! I wore it in college because I loved it so much and was single at the time. I now insist my husband wears it. I will need to try the parfum.
I wish they would stop lying about concentrations, a lot of times when they say "parfum" they're just slightly higher concentrated EDPs, and I think this one actually says "EDP Intense" on the packaging in fine print which is kind of a shitty thing for them to do and probably tons of people missed that. I think they should have to honor it if they say something is "parfum" in the name, it should have to be really high concentration and generally that should mean increased loudness. Le Male back in the day, the EDT, was said to be really loud so you'd think the parfum version would be insane but most people say even Ultra Male is stronger even though that one's only an "EDT Intense" per the packaging.

lots of parfum or edp concentrated fragrances don't have a big cloud or projection. Edt is often louder. Btw it's an eau de parfum.

I know this has nothing to do with JPG Le Male Le Parfum but which one of these ouds do you get the more compliments Sebastian. Initio Oud for Greatness, Tom Ford Oud Wood or Maison Martin Margiela Across Sands ?
I just received this in in the mail. I bought the 75 mL like you did, Sebastian. It's a beautiful fragrance, particularly at the opening. When it dries down, there's a subtle note in there that I don't care for that much; something subtly bothersome. I can't pinpoint what it is yet. In general, though, I'm glad that I took your recommendation on this one. I'll have to see about the longevity and the sillage. I wish the perfume pyramid on Fragrantica was a bit more fleshed out. Perhaps it makes sense to everyone else, but I thought it seemed a bit abridged: "Oriental notes" with a snap of an Anatolian rug and "Woodsy notes" with a snap of a log is not super illuminating. Is there another site that outlines the perfume pyramid of various fragrances?
I've heard some reviews say that it has something that resembles a licorice note even though it isn't listed. Maybe that's what you're picking up?
I get really good longevity on this one, id say its not a projection beast but performance overall is good

😂 funny you publish the review today. I smelled it yesterday and it turned my stomach. I think that lavender / vanilla combo makes it so difficult for me. At the end i smell the well known Le Male DNA with a burst of cardamon. Not many frags make me feel sick but this one did

I usually always end up agreeing with your reviews.. we have similar noses/taste.. I haven't tried this one yet, but too bad about the performance... I wonder if there is different formulations of this stuff... Many say the performance stinks but some people say the performance is very good. I find fragrances are much more inconsistent now a days then they used to be like in the 90's.

The cardamom explains why this smells like Eros EDP's creamy chocolaty brother. That one has mint. It's a little strange. It didn't wow me but I am liking it better and better the more I smell it off me.

Not really barbershop. For me the lavender is there but I feel the vanilla and cardamom are more prominent but you will certainly pick up lavender but it's not the main star! :)
