    One thing I haven't seen many people talk about is the line Sol says to Qimir after he said he was possibly Sith which is "Why risk being exposed?". Qimir responds in jest saying "Well... I wore a mask.." BUT the more interesting thing about this exchange is what Sol said. Which would mean Sol and possibly the Jedi KNEW the Sith were always still around and just actively in hiding.

    Maybe a flaw of the Jedi code is the fact that you can’t finish your enemies especially if they appear defenseless. The only Jedi we have seen kill an unarmed enemy is Anakin, maybe they shouldn’t strive to be more like him. Also a Sith would revel in the Jedi fear, would relish it almost feeding on it. I also felt like Jecki and Sol were being infected by Qimirs hatred and it started to show in their fighting. Yoda literally had face to face conversations with Palpitin. The Sith be Sithin

    I still can’t believe they brought the Cortosis armor from the books and comics into live action. It’s a material that nullifies blaster shots and temporarily disables lightsabers. In canon it was seen in the novel Thrawn: Alliances and in the Doctor Aphra comics.
    It’s incredibly rare and even harder to refine into armor, and while it’s relatively weak against strong impacts, it can nullify blaster bolts and deactivate lightsabers temporarily upon impact.

    I've heard Smilo Ren and Darth Teeth - but I couldn't help pulling from a different property, because that helmet is _VERY_ Batman Who Laughs... And while it isn't really clear, I think I understand why Sol didn't kill Qimir - he responded to Osha telling him to stop because he had really lost control, and that is _definitely_ not the Jedi way. It's not that they can't kill if the situation warrants it - but they can't connect to the Force with emotion to do it. That's much more a Sith thing. And I do reckon Sol knows it's Mae - there was a look he gave as she was helping him up that seemed very knowing, Given he wants to save her too, he might not see this as a bad thing.

  • @sakisaotome6753
    @sakisaotome6753 Місяць тому +1

    The reason to stop Sol is because he works have struck him down in anger. That's Jedi kryptonite which leads you to the dark side. Like Anakin killing Dooku. It would have been lead by passion, emotion, hatred.

    Sol striking down Qimir out of anger and a sense of vengeance would have been like a Cardinal Sin for a Jedi. He was so out of balance in the Force and completely out of control that killing Qimir would have been a full step into the Dark Side. Further, it took a third party (Osha) calling out to him in shock for him to come to his senses. This is also why he can't tell Mae from Osha. The entire Jedi Council had this same problem with Palpatine during the prequels.

  • @IrrelevantPerson
    @IrrelevantPerson 2 місяці тому +4

    I thought the same at first when Sol let Qimir live, but it’s pretty much the same scenario as Anakin vs Dooku and Sidious vs Windu, the only difference being that Sol didn’t fall to the temptation. It’s as Qimir said, rules rules rules lol, it’s the Jedi way. Also, did you notice Kylo Ren’s leitmotif playing throughout the episode(especially at the very end)? I’m thinking Qimir might be the precursor to the knights of ren. He said that the Jedi might call him Sith, not that he was a Sith, so it could fit. Also the metal that disables lightsabers is called cortosis if you want to research it. Great reaction

      I think Rocha has definitely been one of the more fair reviewers of the show. In the end, it may still not work for him (or me or others), but Rocha doesn't seem to take the cheap shots like, "There's no fire in space!" even though we've seen stuff on fire for the past nearly 50 years starting with Ep IV. Same with the nothing burger that was the Ki-Adi-Mundi outrage when the holo video only showed Mae and there wasn't even the term, Sith, mentioned in the meeting.

    I really enjoyed the episode for the most part. My biggest beef was that Sol didn't seem to be able to tell it wasn't Osha, but Mae. Especially considering Sol and Osha were master and apprentice for nearly 10 years while having barely spent any time with Mae. And, unlike the KAM and Sith thing, I'm not sure if there's a way to get out of this with a future explanation? If Sol was playing dumb and does know it's Mae, that means he was perfectly ok to leave Osha to a dangerous Sith (though... I guess he may think Qimir is dead after the bugs?), but if Sol doesn't know, it's annoying for the above mentioned reason.

      @@Vulcanerd I imagine it’s more complicated with the twins because they are a Force dyad. From a Taoist perspective they represent the yin and yang and that means they have a little bit of each other within them which would make it harder to tell them apart. The show is heavily influenced by Taoism. I’d have to watch it again but I think she said her sister ran off so maybe Sol is concerned with saving whoever she is and getting her back to the ship. He did go on the mission to save Mae so at least he would be doing that. I dunno. It’s fun to guess and I’m glad the show isn’t too obvious and keeps us guessing until the end.

      There's legitimate beef with some of the storytelling (I've been mainly ok with the acting and fx), but I feel like too many people are latching on to the trivia like the Ki-Adi-Mundi nothing burger or the fire in space or being angry at the show for not revealing everything, but episode 4 (which was only the halfway point; I saw people being upset that the master hadn't been revealed yet).

      @@Vulcanerd totally. If you go looking for negative things you’ll find negative things. Kinda like the cave on Dagobah.
      Even more frustrating is that that perspective is blinding them to the very answers they seek. Example: they put Ki Adi Mundi in there so that he can take the blame for the hubris of the Jedi without blaming the entire Jedi Order. He’s literally there so to not alter canon matching his line about the Sith in the prequels. He’s there so the Jedi as a whole don’t look like the bad guys which is also something they’ve been complaining about the show doing. He’s there so that doesn’t happen. He’s just an arrogant and overconfident dude and has been for a long time.
      Oh well maybe people will come around to liking it once it’s all done and figured out. It’s not the greatest show ever but not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. The show creators seem to know lore and canon better than the people saying it breaks lore and canon. They want a mystery spelled out for them before the show is even half way done. Makes me wonder if they understand Star Wars at all with their hate and looking for the bad in people/things. 🤷‍♂️

    Like Rocha mentioned, if a Force user can just swipe at a bunch of other Force wielders, why don't they just do that all the time? And that's where we run into a tricky problem with the Force, I think. We see people disable other Force users one moment, then not do it the next, etc. I was going back and forth some with another poster, but I think it's just a tough proposition when you have such a nebulous power in the Force. Who and when can you Force skype, when and who can teleport items, etc.
    When it comes to Force powers, I think we just have to give them a big leeway even though it bothers me from time to time.

    I have no idea how we had very subpar writing in episodes 1 and 2, great writing in 3, mediocre writing in 4 and then bad in 5.
    I absolutely love the fight choreography, and the performances of Sol, Jecki and Mae/Osha are really good, but the writing is CW network bad. They still won’t say what Sol and the Jedi did to Osha, Mae tried to kill Jecki instead of surrendering like she said she was going to. And there’s no reason Sol shouldn’t have killed the Sith right then and there. And don’t get me started on the horrible editing choices to cut from the amazing action sequences to practically needlessly scenes.

    • @MrNathansdad
      @MrNathansdad 2 місяці тому

      Of course Mae fought Jecki. She got jumped and self defense kicked in. I do agree with 2 of your points - them drawing out Sol's confession (whatever that may be) is bad anime levels of frustrating, and Qirim never surrendered, he was being beaten but still a very real threat to everyones' life. Decapitation by light sabre wouldv'e been fully justified.
