I’m a big fan of urban monkey.. and have some couple of caps collection as well.. Urban monkey is already growing in India. Respect to the guy for sticking to his demand.
Still some best collection like "Super Suede" Is out of stock for around 3 months so it's clear that he can't handle the inventory very well.
Smart guy, didn't throw away equity like others. If he is confident of touching 25 Crs revenue next years with 15-20% of profit, it makes sense if he isn't willing to go below PE ratio of 17. Sharks can't takeover businesses just like that.
I don't understand why people come and ask for 30 lakh or 1 crore. If they want to build a business they need 25-30 crore to make a brand but why they ask so less ? Can u plz explain ?

@@arbazzzgaming Sooner you go for funding, more is the dilution to the equity. This is why every startup goes through multiple rounds of fundings. If your business is rock solid, at a later scale you can get funding at a premium valuation.

Super inspiring to see him fighting for every percentage of his equity. He knew that he has a solid business which is profitable, so he didn’t need to give away his equity very generously. But he could’ve gone a little higher to get the mentorship and guidance of the sharks.

Brand is there. Before getting funding, he needs to get a really good co-founder. After watching this episode, I am pretty sure he might get really good candidates as well as the investors.
Urban Monkey guy is a super cool shark in himself, this brand is going to make something big. He did not fall prey to these so called aajaa fasaja gang. His second counter was just awesome. Valuation is the key guys. Anupam reaction was angoor khattey. Peyush looked disappointed for not getting the deal. He is one of the top 3 business on shark tank which is going to make big without these so called sharks. His core asset is his equity .
Are bhai bahut niche brand hai…acha aur profitable but it can’t go big….In a country like India product pricing is everything ..have you seen UMs pricing…it’s ridiculously expensive….Lenskart became a household due cost effectiveness coupled with quality

If their caps work really well, its great advice to focus on limited products and not expand too much. Especially when inventory is a problem.
But inventory isn't a problem for him. He never mentioned that in the pitch. He said, "ye bhi bikta hai." Of course, he said that products are out of stock but that is due to high demand and not due to lack of inventory.

I think the sharks are wrong in this one… many famous brands Gucci and lv have many products like watches belts and everything and urban monkey will reach that potential.
Gucci and LV are both humongous as a brand. So diversifying the product portfolio makes sense in their case. Urban Monkey is smaller than Bewakoof. Both do the same thing. This guy's parents seem rich. Otherwise in these category the fashion will fade away some day.
