    Hi! Just to clarify, the kids have recess a total of 12 TIMES a week! :) They have recess with aides outside every morning before school and every day at lunch. I take them out 2 extra times during the week (Tuesday and Wednesday), as those are the days we don't have specials. They still get recess twice a day, I just don't go out with them. Someone else is supervising during those times! :)

    Holy crap that room is huge! My 3rd grade class Room was maybe 1/6 of that. Adults had to walk sideways just to get around the room without dumping things over. All my classrooms growing up were super small, though that was normal. Honestly this room is nearly as big as my old cafeteria 😂

    This is just an idea! If you would like you could get some mini whiteboards, ( about the size of an a4 page)markers and whiteboard cleaners ...if you have one for each child, every day (if they do sums for homework such as 1+4 etc.) and each day you can call out a sum and they write the answer and hold it up !

    A fun tip is to teach ur kids the Olympic Rings. You can print out keys of each rings color. At the end of the day u can pick a kid to give a key to another student. Ex: I think Julia was empathetic when she helped a kid, and then she would get a red key! I recommend this 100%

Such marvelous work shopping, preparation, and arrangement with some help from a supportive husband! This way, it ups the ante for the 4th Grade teacher! Multi-intelligence every moment of the day to keep tab of each of 27 student’s needs! Bless you, Mrs. Nichols for such upbeat anticipation! Love this!

      Sorry, I should have clarified! The kids have recess every day before lunch, but I take them out separately twice a week, so they technically have recess 7 times a week! :) I am not out there with the kids the other 5 times, only for the 2 that I personally take them out. I wish our schedule allowed me to take them out seperately everyday, but I had to keep the same schedule that was put into place when I started in November. Hope that helps with some of the confusion. 😊👍

    • @LM-xi5jp
      @LM-xi5jp 7 років тому +7

      A Classroom Diva Thank you for clarifying. That makes sense now. It's interesting how the amount of recess varies from place to place. For example, where I live all elementary schools have a 15min. morning recess at 10:30am, 30min. at lunch, and another 15min. at 2:00. It really keeps them more focused throughout the school day.

    • @lindseybalducci8649

    Your classroom is huge! I'm an art teacher in a public school from South Africa, specialising in music and drama. We have one classroom that isn't even an art room that is shared among SIX teachers! It makes me so angry, because I cannot decorate or organise the classroom the way I feel fit otherwise the other teachers ideas clash! I have another classroom that is technically a closet where I teach my private learners. Again, not sufficient. Our school actually has a theatre and I try my best to sneak them in to give a meaningful lesson, but it is against our rules to do so. I mean why? Anyway, teaching is my life and I make use of all the facilities I have in the best way possible (yes, even sneaking the learners into the theatre at most times for a practical lesson). You are a shining example of what a teacher should be. Keep up the good work, your learners are already reaping the benefits of all your hard work. XOXO

    Your classroom is amazing. I am SO envious of all of the storage you have. I basically have four cupboards like the ones you have your handwriting charts on. That's it! I've had to buy bookcases and a couple of cupboards, but I have to keep a LOT of materials at home. My classroom is also much smaller than yours. You are very lucky.

      Wow! I do love the cabinets, but I didn't realize I had that much storage. Counting my blessings, then! :) I do keep a ton of materials at home, as well, as we move every few years, so it's easier to move everything from home than move all that stuff to and from classrooms. Thanks for your comment!

    Your classroom is so neat and tidy! I definitely think that you made it look so better with all of your creative ideas. If I was in that classroom it would make me fell very inspired. I was wondering though., did you come in in the middle of the year after a teacher had left? Thank you for the awesome video!

      Love it! Thanks for sharing! I wasn't sure how I felt about rows of tables. In kindergarten, my students had table groups/clusters and I had more flexible seating, so I am still getting used to this. :) Glad I am on the same page as other teachers! What grade do you teach?
