I have AP Racing brakes on my Mustang and love them. You will enjoy swapping your pads way less and rotors every other year. Your channel is making a GR86 super tempting
Ill say it again. Best racer/enthusiast gr86 channel period. You need sponsors man. Inofrmative vid per usual. Im looking to uograde to a bbk kit mid summer. What model of Ryobi impact is that? It had torque settings on it?
Thank you!! A sponsor or a ton of UA-cam money 🤣😅 it’s the big brushless ONE+ HP 18v one. It’s has 3 different settings or an auto mode. It’s pretty powerful
Ok revisiting. There is a good deal for a FRONT kit on FB marketplace. He's bundling in front and rear ferodo pads. How is this setup holding up? I'm about to pull the trigger.
Pro5000r with anti rattle clips are simply the best brakes system in the world I put mx72+ on them and there rock solid on track no fade no heating issue what so ever.
When my car was at stock power it was way too much breaking! Now with the turbo it’s just right, but yes, I would say hands-down. These are the best brakes out there.
Bleed the brakes as soon as you install the new parts as air can creep up into the ABS module if it sits for a long time. Its a pain in the ass to get the air out of the ABS as the ports inside the module are only able to be bled when the ABS pump is active. You need a scan tool to activate the ABS with the car sitting still.
Hey Man, thanks for all the great contents. I enjoy watching you track your car. I recently bought a GR86, in your opinion what is the best wheel spec and tire to run if i do not want to use spacers or roll the fenders. Current camber level around -2, -2
@@phelpsgarage4202 thanks for the reply. I was leaning towards 17×9 before your advice. In your opinion, why 18×9 instead of 17×9. I plan on doing SCCA time trials running sport 4.
I had the same issue with aftermarket pads on my bembos having side to side movement. You could hear it on the first stop when reversing and the first stop going forward after reversing. Your car looks great! You keeping the rears stock?
Great set-up. I know Essex had their stuff with $1000 off. I have been using the Hawks DTC-60 with the Castro fluid and stock lines, it works great for me, I don't glow the rotors at all. Then I go home after each race and switch back to the stock pads. I have been tempted with the Essex kit but I also use wildwood on other platform and it is appealing for their price. I haven't checked if Wildwood has a kit for our cars yet(GR86). I can't wait to get some feedback from you regarding the AP kit, I think you are the first one to review them. I wanted to ask you, what is the plan for power? I have seen some turbokits out there and also superchargers like the HKS but again, not many reviews. Only shorts videos from the people that made the turbokits but not a lot from the actual owners.
@@phelpsgarage4202 I love your channel brother but I like the fact that you actually answer people. Any recommendations on 200TW tires? I also tried the Federals 595s and I am trying to decide now between the Falkens RT 660 or the Kumho V730s. What do you recommend? My local road course has very tight turns.
@@rs3tuber425 I love the RE71RS but if I wasn’t using them I would have RT660 for overall track time. The RT660 likes a lot more camber over the RE71RS. The RT615 are slow compared to the other ones.
@@maintenancethrottle too much breaking power. The pad I got was really aggressive. Also, it applies so much torque to the rotor. It just takes some getting used to, but you can brake real deep to the point where I can’t heel toe fast enough in T7 at Sebring
For science can you see if your 17in APEX wheels clears with or without your 7mm spacer? I have a set of 17in VS-5RS and APEX claims their barrels are extra big
The moment you go off into gravel or get a rogue obstacle like a rock stuck in between the caliper and barrel, it could be less than ideal of a result.
@@phelpsgarage4202 seen it a lot on the west coast. Scored rims (sometimes to a point where it’s dangerous). My personal minimum would be 10mm of clearance.

Once the brakes have fluid and are bedded in, won’t the loaded pistons keep the pads from rattling? Talking about the “anti rattle” in specific

Turbo

Nope, just matching the rear pads correctly with the front for now.
