#ShameOnGreenpeace ! Protesting in favor of the environment is no excuse to harm Peruvian cultural heritage that is over a thousand years old. Those lines are in a restricted area because just walking through them can hurt the lines!!!
Qué verguenza #Greenpeace! Protestar por el medio ambiente no es excusa para dañar el patrimonio cultural de Perú!

Shame on you Greenpeace... Why you do not do stuff like ANZ in Brisbane HQ in 2010. I was there by that time and I thought it was very well done hit... This one in particular was very stupid. Use banks buildings, oil companies building and soon on. DON'T TOUCH OUR HERITAGE!

Dude.. Screw Greenpiss. They deserve jail if they believe their unscientific IPCC "morality" and higher-than-thou elitist crap will get them a pardon, BUT..
Enrique - before you blame oil companies for anything, disconnect all energy sources to your house and abandon your car. Talk the talk - walk the walk!

I walk a lot dude. I used public transportation, decide don't have a car. Small wardrobe, small house, short consume. I try recycling as much as I can. My water usage it's quite responsable and I believe oil companies are not a long term solution for this planet and I also know that your disconnect solution does not work... We have to connect each others. I will still blame on oil companies, mining and others similar that pollute the world. Renewable Energy it's the only future for humans if you are not part of the solution you're part of the problem.

Your idea is bad and you should feel bad. One person disconnecting appliances doesn't achieve anything.

I believe that this incident underlines the fundamental problem that exists with Greenpeace. The organisation constantly demands overwhelming changes to global industry without providing any realistic plans and, as a result, accomplishes nothing which contributes to widespread environmental reform. Unless of course, you consider damaging a world heritage site a productive endeavour. If the individuals responsible for this pointless destruction are imprisoned for their actions, perhaps Greenpeace will be encouraged to adopt a policy which may actually lead to change.

Most comments on this thread are attacking Greenpeace for "deeply disrespectful action on this valuable site"
but is this not what many resource extraction firms are doing all over the world? In some cases to an even more damaging extent...?
    - I'm likely reading into this too much though,

      What you say is true.
But how does that justify GP's actions? I did something bad, but they do something worse, so I'm actually the good guy???? Come on!

Resource companies go to remarkable lengths to limit there impact. When companies do cause unacceptable impact the officers and directors are liable - just as the Director of Greenpeace should be - jail time is the only option here. If a mining company had done this during an exploration program - Greenpeace would quite rightfully be asking for criminal prosecution. You would be asking the same. All power to Peru - arrest the criminals, have a long trial and convict these people and sanction Greenpeace with a USD 500 million fine.

Disgraceful - lets hope for swift and significant CRIMINAL PROSECUTION. The management and board of Greenpeace should held accountable for this - just as the same would be held accountable for criminal environmental damage caused by a for-profit organization. Swift justice is needed. Jail terms for ALL involved and a massive fine for Greenpeace - say USD 500 million. This needs to be far more than the mere cost of repairing they very visible damage - it needs to be punitive.

lamentable y muy triste lo ocurrido, esto es un acto de terrorismo cultural no solo contra el patrimonio de una nación sino también de la humanidad. No hay justificación alguna para este acto, ojala que el mundo los repudie dándole la espalda a su causa.
