This record shows sampling at it's highest level. This pretty much came out the same time as "3 ft high and rising" by De La Soul Incredible times. Hip Hop in "88 - '89 was incredible. Groundbreaking stuff right here
SO HAPPY to see younger generations discovering the Beastie Boys! They wrote their beats, wrote the songs, played the instruments AND made their own album art!! True artistry…❤️🔥🌶
@Rheumattica It was a flop at the time and while it has since become a classic in the eyes of critics and muso types the average hip hop fan knows jack shit about it so I think that's what they mean by underrated
They sampled 14 different songs for this, you would never be able to do that today. I recommend "Professor Booty' or 'High Plains Drifter' or 'Get it Together' ✌️
Most of the tracks on this album were already done by the Dust Brothers before they were hired to produce the Beasties. When the beasties were introduced to them they decided to use what was already done and they would Rhyme over it. This album is almost all sampled from other works so the instruments you hear are often sampled from other songs. The story of this album is really intereting.
Paul's Boutique is a one-of-a-kind album because it absolutely pushed the boundaries of sampling in production. The entire album sampled about 125 songs which made a litigation magnet, which in turn established royalty requirements for sampling. To make the album today would cost millions in licensing/royalty fees before a single track was ever laid down.
Its amazing how they were just so talented and became famous as teenagers. They were looking to just do their own thing. Totally worked of coursse. Amazing guys
This was made right before copyright laws started getting strictly enforced. They sampled soooooo many records on this album, Paul's Boutique, without proper permission.
Great reaction to a fun track! After making a huge hit (Fight for your Right) with their first album, for the second album, they switched producers, and style. This album forced the sampling laws we have today since they assembled songs out of clips from other recordings, usually funky jams from the early and mid -70's.
Paul Revere and Brass Monkey are two of my favorite Beastie tracks. License to Ill was an incredible album. This is from Paul’s Boutique if I recall correctly. Both albums are fire.
You mention the "Real Instruments", well, there was a _little_ of that on this album (Paul's Boutique), but that mostly occurred on the albums after this. _Paul's Boutique_ is mostly famous for being a huge sampling breakthrough. The incredible amount of layered samples done by the Dust Brothers here is really staggering if you look into it.
You must have 4 enemies giving thumbs down, cause there is no way it was about the song or video. Great reaction! It's from the greatest album of all time, Paul's Boutique! Keep up the Beastie Boys reactions!
Paul's Boutique can be played all the way thru and you will enjoy thoroughly. And my neighbors could hear this when we played it through the house speakers
This album is total madness. You can find new stuff in it after ever listen. Seriously, hang the vinyl of Beastie Boys's Paul Boutique right up there with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the moon. Just as classic, but for different reasons.
A track like this at a party will have me in a combination of tears of joy and tears of frustration that I never learned to breakdance! Like uuurrrggghh I wanna stand on my head and do some crazy sht with my legs the world ain't never seen aaargggh!!! Haha
One day when you get some free time you should really give the whole album "Paul's Boutique" a listen. It came out in '89 and did not connect to well at first but now is considered a master piece in sampling. So stuff that came out in '88, '89, '90 are Public Enemy "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back", Eric B. & Rakim "Follow the Leader", De La Soul "3 Feet High and Rising", Jungle Brothers "Done by the Forces of Nature", A Tribe Called Quest "People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm". It fits in nice with Tribe and De La but they sounded nothing like Rakim. Give it a listen on headphones one day you wont regret it. Some say there are over 300 individual samples used. Peace
Top 5 best drops ever for me. 1989 wasn't ready for it. I know because I was there.
Same here.
Paul’s Boutique is one of the best albums in hip hop ever! 😁
….one of the best albums ever!
@@LiveAlcheme
Word 🆙
Yes.
Def their Sgt Pepper!
And it bombed...guess people were expecting "Fight for your right" part 2.
That's why these boys are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Everything they do is straight 🔥. No one did it like them.
They are also in the Hip Hop HOF , 3rd group ever inducted , after Grandmaster Flash & Run DMC
( the ONLY band to be honored in both HOF )
This is in my top 5 best Beastie Boy tracks. The bass line is sick.
This record shows sampling at it's highest level. This pretty much came out the same time as "3 ft high and rising" by De La Soul
Incredible times. Hip Hop in "88 - '89 was incredible. Groundbreaking stuff right here
Absolutely, De La Soul’s “3-feet High…” and “Paul’s Boutique” are master classes is sampling. Then the prices for sampling went 👆🏽.
yea, it's sad you can only find 3 ft High and Rising on UA-cam. Not on any of the streaming audio services and the vinyl will cost you over $100.
*I don't think I've ever seen you smile so much during a reaction... The Beastie Boys will do that to ya. The GOAT(s)!*
I very proudly still blast Licensed to ill and pauls boutique, as i garden, in my middle age 50s.
This whole album, Paul's Boutique, is their greatest album and one of the great hip hop albums ever.
Jay, this begs a listening party for the entire masterpiece that is Paul’s Boutique.
The Dust Brothers produced that record. They deserve some props.
“3 M.C’s and 1 D.J.” is another phenomenal song worth checking out,🔥. Great reaction btw. 🙂
Beastie Boys are litty, lit, lit! 🔥🔥🔥
Beastie Boys: High Plains Drifter, Alive, Pass the Mic, Gratitude, Body Movin
Beastie Boys are no joke. They have a huge catalog great songs. This song you have to careful or you will blow out your cheap speakers.
Yep, they had a lot of sub woofer killers. Hell, we started building our speakers because of them. Sam Ash was costing too much.
This entire record is the shit. Been a Beastie fan from 87 on….
Same!
SO HAPPY to see younger generations discovering the Beastie Boys! They wrote their beats, wrote the songs, played the instruments AND made their own album art!! True artistry…❤️🔥🌶
Paul’s Boutique is one of the most underrated hip hop album ever!
That way
I don't think Paul's Boutique is underrated⁉️
Reckon it's regarding as one of the Greatest. Especially in Hip Hop...!

@Rheumattica so you live in a world where Paul's Boutique is widely known and loved? Where it gets airplay on radio?
They sampled 14 different songs for this, you would never be able to do that today. I recommend "Professor Booty' or 'High Plains Drifter' or 'Get it Together' ✌️
SEE WHAT'S HAPPENIN'!
They cleared all the samples that the Dust Brothers used :-)
when this dropped in 89 it was revolutionary. I remember driving around with my friends blasting it in 89.
This probably my fave Beastie track, it's funky as hell. Hip-Hop Funk! It keeps hittin' and doesn't quit.

Truth
The Beastie Boys have been and always will be the illest. So many samples on this record. Absolutely iconic album.
These kind of artists come every 100 years....Rare
B-Boys always deliver! Thanks so much for this one! One of the best that ever were & still sincerely respected...
An absolute favorite. Groundbreaking, fun, funky, timeless.
I've been commenting for about a year about you doing a reaction to this cos I knew you'd love it,glad you've got around to doing it 😀
In my humble opinion this is one of their best! It def is absolute 🔥!
Paul's Boutique is a one-of-a-kind album because it absolutely pushed the boundaries of sampling in production. BBoys were known for their sick transitions, their production, and just their god given talent
Its amazing how they were just so talented and became famous as teenagers. They were looking to just do their own thing. Totally worked of coursse. Amazing guys
🌟Jay, this is Jen's full album reaction alert!🤣 "Paul's Boutique" is late 80's pure Hip Hop gold from start to finish.
Such a talented group of dudes.
wow, we used to PARTY HARD listening to these cats.
Saw them live la la paloosa circa 1990? at the gorge at George, Washington.
I saw them at a tiny little club near Fenway Park in Boston. My eardrums never recovered.
I saw them at Lollapalooza in '94 supporting Check Ya Head.
Gotta let that beat mmmmmmmmmmmm drop
Beastie Boys🔥🔥
This was made right before copyright laws started getting strictly enforced. They sampled soooooo many records on this album, Paul's Boutique, without proper permission.
One if the greatest tracks from one of the greatest albums of all time. Ladies and gentlemen, this is peak hip-hop right here.
I highly recommend this entire album . Paul's Boutique is insanely great .
this whole album is a masterpiece!
Great reaction to a fun track! After making a huge hit (Fight for your Right) with their first album, for the second album, they switched producers, and style. My favorite Beastie Boys song. Impossible to stand still when I hear it! LOL
This was a iconic tune back in the day. Remember playing this at house jams and had the house rocking.
Beastie Boys 💣
RIP MCA 🙏
Outrageously good beat.
We've got a winner in Beastie Boys, "Shake Your Rump!"
PAUL'S BOUTIQUE!!
Paul Revere and Brass Monkey are two of my favorite Beastie tracks. License to Ill was an incredible album.
This is from Paul’s Boutique if I recall correctly.
Both albums are fire.
Yes 🙌, classic Beasties! ❤️
THESE THREE PUNK ROCKERS FOREVER CHANGED HIP HOP. 🤯
One of my all time fave groups. 100s of songs across genres. They are influential for a reason.
You mention the "Real Instruments", well, there was a _little_ of that on this album (Paul's Boutique), but that mostly occurred on the albums after this. _Paul's Boutique_ is mostly famous for being a huge sampling breakthrough. This is definitely one of my favorite Beasties songs
I saw this (Paul's Botique 1990) tour in KC when I was in High School. Small venue and amazing!!
This one, Paul Revere, and Hey Ladies are probably 3 of my top Beastie picks.
That whole Paul's Boutique album is awesome from beginning to end. Well worth a listen.
This will rumble you to the core!!!!
Yeah man, that whole album was way ahead of its time- the best!
Beasties will always be icon's. Geniuses 🤓🤓🤓
The Beastie Boys live shows were amazing ❤️
And they are the musicians!
I love when the new generation study and enjoy the Classics !
“Egg man” and “Hey Ladies” are fun songs from the same album.
"I'll be busting routines and rhymes all night"
Like eatin burgers n chicken n you be pickin your nose and I'm on time, Homie - that's how it goes.
@@michellez1414 Ya heard my style, So let's get to the point
This is definitely my favorite react channel, I always love how into the music you get every single time. 🎶😎
Seen Beasties 3 times and nobody puts on a show like them, it's just like this video, 3 man weave all night in your face, intensity
You must have 4 enemies giving thumbs down, cause there is no way it was about the song or video. Great reaction! It's from the greatest album of all time, Paul's Boutique! Keep up the Beastie Boys reactions!

Great pick Jay! STRAIGHT BANGER!
Paul's Boutique can be played all the way thru and you will enjoy thoroughly. And my neighbors could hear this when we played it through the house speakers
This might be one of THE best reactions I've ever seen from you. And I've been watching you for a long time. AWESOME !!!
All samples from old funk albums, tv shows, and movies. They are geniuses
This album is total madness. You can find new stuff in it after ever listen. Seriously, hang the vinyl of Beastie Boys's Paul Boutique right up there with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the moon. Just as classic, but for different reasons.
Always refreshing seeing new reacts to Beastie Boys.
You should always be ready when you play a Beastie boys track👍✌️
Sounds of Science is another banger off of this groundbreaking album, Also Eggman is a lot of fun
This is still so CRAZY HARD!!!! The Beasties could really bring it.
Another song that hits just as hard is also from this album called "Hey Ladies". You have to check it out!
Great song and great reaction! Looks like you really had fun!
Just like the produce in your supermarket, Beastie Boys are the Freshest! Great reaction. Liked!
1 of there best..from the very best of back then..👏👏
Beasties legends
A track like this at a party will have me in a combination of tears of joy and tears of frustration that I never learned to breakdance! Like uuurrrggghh I wanna stand on my head and do some crazy sht with my legs the world ain't never seen aaargggh!!! Haha
Full clout y'all, full clout y'all, and when the mic is in my hand I turn it out y'all. Full clout!
( bong rip 💨 )
that wooo ha! sample before busta.. legend songs both
There are more samples packed into this song than into most entire albums. :D
Beastie Boys - Hey Ladies (you will love that one too)
This album if full of amazing beats.
One of the Beastie’s best
Pure brilliance!
This album has something like 200 samples on it. Something crazy like that
Impressive that I t was mostly analogue devices that were used to make this album. I think that’s where the funk and soul comes from.
"Yo, chill out!" XD
And they play their own instruments, check out the David letterman “ sabotage” amazing even if ya can’t put in on for reasons just check it it
And that amazing bass riff !!!! Live everyday as ya last , live on your terms .!!!! Much love !!
Matt Dike/Dust Bros. genius.
I remember when this came out in the 80s. Genx baby
Paul's Boutique was the peak of rap for me

this is their best beat, in my opinion -- and that's really saying something

Paul’s Boutique, classic hip hop album, well worth checking out for any hip hop head and if you study hip hop it’s a must.
