Saw Nemophila this year in San Francisco and Los Angeles, I was on the rail facing Haraguchi and Hazuki, this band comes at you hard! They deserve to be huge! Outstanding musicians all around!

Awesome song and great reaction. If you like passcode you could check their cover of Tonight. But i have seen that you like the heavy stuff so i think Oiran live at NaonYaon festval could be one of your favorite.

I generally don't like this type of synth mixed with metal and rock that much. I can't stand the couple of songs I have heard by PassCode for example, but the auto-tuned vocals don't help either, I don't think I have ever been able to finish one of their songs. I have been critical on Nemophila's use of synths on their tracks before as well (eg. "Monsters" and "A Ray Of Light"), I understand why people love that sound but it doesn't work as well for me. There are exceptions though, I generally do enjoy Hanabie and I'm not really sure why and an other example of a synthy track I like is Tridents' Spoopy.
That all said, the synth doesn't bother me on this track, I actually really like the main riff and the solo section. My least favourite part of this track are the more poppy (and too produced for my liking) vocals in the chorus. But overall I enjoy this track and I am coming around on the chorus the more I listen to it. It would probably be somewhere in the middle as far as their tracks go, maybe a little more to the top-end.

Another masterpiece! 6 different riffs, 1 breakdown section and 2 guitar solos in a song of 3 minutes and 20 seconds! And the balance of heavy and melodic in this song is very good. 🤘🏻🌸🤘🏻

Speaking of miscast, you are probably aware of it, but they have renamed themselves as MAZE and they've already published three new songs (Idol Riot, Supersonic and Grotesque Creatures) that are a seamless continuation of their style and very heavy, particularly the new one. Also I'd recommend you to check out Saiseiga with their new MV Hanabi and their brand new album Nostalgia. I think they have one of the best female metal singers in Japan even considering the powerful competition for that status.
As for this Nemophila song, so far I like pretty much everything they've released. However, this one reminds me a little too much of their earlier songs, like Dissension for example. I still really enjoy it though.

I've seen that name before, but actually didn't know that's former miscast! Thanks, I'll check out their songs!
Is Saiseiga something similar or different? Also I've recently discovered a group called 'Kaqriyoterror' which sounds very similar to miscast/passcode as well. Might even be the same vocalist from passcode for the harsh vocals but I'm not sure since I only know 1 song so far ;)

did you see the announcement for Nemophila guest appearances at the Zepp shows? 2nd night Haraguichi-san performing with Hanabie? Assuming I understood the translation ;) pretty sure but not certain....language barrier

@@react-o-mat Saiseiga is a metal band with an amazing female singer who does clean and harsh vocals. It's worth listening for her alone, but the rest of the band is really good as well with a combination of traditional metal and metalcore and a great sound. In case you're interested in a more traditional heavy rock sound, check out Hades with their new MV "Bring It On!!!". (They're another all female band from Japan, there are just so many.)
Kaqriyoterror is a great metal/alternative idol group that I listen to a lot. Their recent album Ensemble Berserk is very good. They do screaming as well, but PassCode's Emily is not involved. Sadly three members have been announced to leave Kaqriyoterror next month but I hope the group will be rebuilt around the remaining member Yuu.

@@react-o-mat Saiseiga is a female fronted metal band. The singer is a very unique person, I like both her voice and her attitude.
As for Miscast, renamed Maze, Passcode and Kaqryoterror are Alt-Idol or Idol-Core. Idol are groups formed by girls who sing, dance and perform. They don't write music or play instruments. They usually perform with an instrumental back track, or if it's a larger group, or special occasion, with a live band. The musicians who perform the instrumental part are not considered part of the group.
Typically Idol Group music is very commercial pop.
In opposition to these, the Alt-Idol emerged, but this is a term used by foreign followers, they consider themselves Chika-Idol, Underground Idol. The Alt-Idol can be from the most diverse musical genres.
When the sound is heavy, with rough vocals, some call it Idol-Core.

This level of synthiness, I do like, it's when it enters PassCode territory that I find it annoying. Annoying might even be to strong a word but I actually couldn't get into PassCode at all, it's just the wrong kind of artificial for me. A few effects here and there can actually elevate a song, and then there's Vocaloid or otherwise completely artificial sounding songs as well, which I can deal with. I just personally have a problem with what sounds like overdone effects to me.
And there isn't even a clear boundary I could draw, Trident's Signal or even Spoopy (if you know those) do have what I would usually consider too many effects, but somehow I like them anyway.
Again, this isn't a criticism of PassCode, I get what they're going for, it's just not for me.
As far as Nemophila news goes, I actually don't know XD
But considering their release schedule up to now I wouldn't be surprised if there's to be a mini-album in the near future, akin to what they did with Oiran.

I have to admit that Dissension may have a certain shock factor, the instrumental is great, but for me Mayu's voice just sounds too 'processed', which is why I will never count it among my top tracks from them. 🤷🏻‍♂ It's a completely different story with 'RISE'. I fell in love with this one immediately. For me, just the right mix of brutality and beauty. 💮🔥🤘🏻
