They just started in 2019 and are blowing up fast. As you can see from the gang vocals, they don't take themselves too seriously-Hazuki even winks. They almost seem to be enjoying a private joke, that goes "Hi, we're a bunch of cute, fun girls and we are going to rip your face off, and you are going to like it.” They are a supergroup composed of:
ex-Mary's Blood guitarist Saki
ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu
ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki (also plays with Lisa-X)
ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and
ex-Soramimi drummer Muratatam (also does other projects)
Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized Mayu with some help from Saki. They started off posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. Then they began posting originals, starting with “Oiran” ua-cam.com/video/eyb2NtPwcxc/v-deo.html
The viral reaction seems to have convinced them they were onto something potentially big, so they’ve been putting a lot more work into it, including some successful live-streams and an appearance at the annual Japanese female rock festival NAONのYAON. They tend toward hard and heavy, but also do ballads and some pop covers. Drummer Murata Tamu took time off to give birth to her son, and on her return, the rest of the bandmembers gave her a welcome back that resulted in an extremely moving moment captured on live stream: “Life” ua-cam.com/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/v-deo.html

Saki is the only one who had been with a breakout band before (Mary’s Blood); Hazuki and Murata-tamu are also considered elite musicians and have worked with a lot of other top artists. Hara-san is the youngest but is clearly a great talent and has been developing in front of our eyes. She has already written several songs for the group. And of course Mayu is quickly establishing herself as a one of the world’s best metal vocalists.

Someone here instantly recognise a great drummer when he hear one 😉. Introducing Tamu Murata (Murata Tam(u) in japanese, because it sounds like a drum roll - on purpose). Drummer extraordinaire, coming from the fusion scene, also pianist, singer and decent on guitar, bass and saxophone. She's the mother of the band - both symbolically and very litterally. Please check their song ADABANA, it's a great one and Tamu's talent is highlighted.
I get so happy seeing Chase get excited about a new band. Love Nemophila, and while they have a bunch of great songs, I think this is still my favorite.
nemophila is one of the fast rising new bands recently, their members are all from different bands, high level musicians and musical diversity are their characteristics.

Totally surprised you haven't already done this! Love this tune, I watched a lot of their early stuff covering other tunes/bands and then one day I got this in my feed. I LOVED it. I know most of the girls from their work in other bands in the past and present. Saki the one playing thru the custom painted Marshall amp is my favorite female guitarist. I first saw her play with the band Mary's Blood and has been in other bands tracks. This is my fav but Revive is another great one.

Their former bassist, Frédéric Leclercq, is in a duo called Amahiru with Saki, one of the Nemophila guitarists.
Saki is also known for the all-female heavy metal band Mary's Blood, but they're on a (possibly permanent) hiatus.
I didn't get that feel from them, but only while Nemophila was busy touring and releasing New stuff. It would be a shame, but surely Saki Is pretty busy!
Love your reaction! To answer you question about the gang vocals live....the have mics in front of each member. There is a live version of this song from the Naon Yaon festival from a year ago. There's also a live version of their song Oiran from the same festival that's worth checking out! Much like Band-Maid, you can't go wrong with any Nemophila song both their originals and covers 🤘😊🤘
when you first listen to this band, especially this song, It's like u have a lot of face punches. First a music, a scream and then u will enjoy a strong clear beautiful voice from Mayu. Love this Chase!

Nemophila has been one of my favorite recent music finds. They have so many great song but I would highly recommend Hypnosis and Revive from them.

Finally!! I've been waiting for that for a long time. If you want to do more of them to see their variety try Life, Sorai, Fighter, Hypnosis or Style. My favourite is Adabana but if you dive deeper you'll see that they don't have a bad song but only some are better than others...

It's the song that introduced me to them, and still my favorite to date. It's also the song that actually got me to like (and not just tolerate) the screaming side of vocals.
That said, one of the things I like most about them is the versatility, from Dissension and Revive all the way to Night Flight and Life.... Awesome group, and looking forward to you enjoying them more already ❤🔥🤘

Welcome Chase to the world of Nemophila. This song got so much attention when it first came out. I don't know how you avoided it. It has been so fun watching this band develop over the last couple of years since their inception. They were releasing videos on almost a weekly basis with numerous live stream concerts. They have been to the Whisky a GoGo already and will be at the Aftershock festival next month. They have risen so fast it seems. The best is yet to come I am sure.
I'm very happy that you found the time to listen to this band. And I'm already very much looking forward to seeing the upcoming videos from you about these ladies. Great work to recognize greatness. The vocalist can also be very clean. The guitarist Saki is on par with Kanami (Band maid) and the pair from Lovebites. The rhythm section is solid. You nailed it with the 80's power metal. They do a couple of Iron Maiden covers that the vocalist kills without speaking a word of English. There is an interview Saki did with Herman Li of Dragonforce that's worth a look.

I appreciate the insightful reaction. Nemophila is pure 🔥🔥🔥. They play a variety of styles and excel at all of them. I highly recommend you check out their song Adabana. Its a master work of drumming with the best bridge I’ve heard in ages.
My favorite band for the last two years and this maybe my favorite reaction to them so far. Life is still my favorite song by them - completely different sound, but just as powerful.

Nemophila is the first band from whom i bought and imported the physical Album & merch from Japan. 💙 Even though i listened to other Japanese bands/artists before, i only streamed them.
I also bought multiple of their online concert streams. These girls rock and have great diversity in songs. 🤘 You could take a look in there 1st single Oiran.

I've never quite "got" Nemophila, compared with more conventional Japanese bands, however your breakdown has helped me appreciate them a lot more. I guess I'm attuned to clean vocals rather than screams, although I'll concede this lady has an impressive range!
As a segue, keep an eye out for new material (hopefully) from Lovebites, who are getting close to announcing their new bassist, a development that is keenly anticipated. While you were on your own hiatus (or at least a slow down!) you've missed some of their material from last year, on the Heavy Metal Never Dies blu ray. Commended tracks include Set The World on Fire and A Frozen Serenade (a musical Masterclass). Hope that you can get back to them at some stage. 🙂

Another Japanese band you might like to check out is SAISEIGA. I really like them, especially their singer, Regan. She's got a great voice with something unique about her tone that really works for me.

I just found you again on an interview with gaijin guys, so glad you checked out this newish band. I’ve been following them as they develop their sound. So fun!
The day this song dropped I tweeted you; glad it finally came up in the list. Tamu Murata is a damn good drummer, just wait. And a mother of two toddlers - the band has a daycare behind the stage for her kids. Tamu is the primary backup singer live, but they all have mics and contribute vocals. They only backing tracks I have heard them do is to add the odd synth work.

Oh Chase, somehow it passed by me, I just assumed you did Nemophila reactions....but hey, you have a long road of pure joy and fun and phenomenal musicianship ahead of you in Nemophila journey. They are pure class, as musicians and as human beings too.
Next please try their song "Oiran". I'd suggest to go through in chronologically so it culminates in reacting to Adabana" and "Style" which are both in my opinion their utmost best....great reaction as always by the way, Dissension never disappoint🤘...and you're right to enjoy the vibe by pausing. For most people this song was the introduction to this band and yes, will never forget that moment when Mayu enters the scene!

Oh man. I can't wait to hear what Mr Carneson has to say about the ultra-creative track Hypnosis or the (in my opinion) Brit/Grammy Award worthy track Adabana.
YEESSSSS! Finally... I wait for this one for..... maybe 2 years 😁 But sure, it is quite complicated to follow all bands even in only one musical genre, because nowadays the production (world-wide) is just huge.
Anyway, great reaction as always. As soon as I discovered Nemophila with their title Monsters two years ago, they quickly became my favorite band all around. And the reason is quite simple. Insane talent in musical skills (instruments and vocal), but most importantly in songwriting and musical creativity. No copy/paste from one track to the next one. I am pretty sure you will agree with that if you go deeper with this band. Speaking of that, of course you could pick some titles randomly in their catalog, but I think it could be also interesting to browse their collection in a chronological way, just to measure the way they evolved. So here is a bunch of some great tracks (MV): Monsters, Sorai, Life, Raitei, Demon Light, Hypnosis, Revive, Ray of Light, Adabana and Style (the last one). I also highly recommend the title "Game Over" (not an MV) from the 'Revive' album which is an EPIC power ballad, and you can also check out the live version of 'Oiran', so intense.
About the band, these five ladies are highly talented, but since the very beginning, I always considered Mayu (vocal) and Tamu (drums) were the backbone and the mind spirit of the band. Tamu is a studio musician able to play in multiple musical genres and also involved in the Inspion music production studio (ua-cam.com/video/kwsciXm_7sA/v-deo.html). And Mayu bacause the multiple voices she has, and her insane ability to blend them in the same musical phrase. This is very rare.

The screamer is quite good, and Nemophila is (perhaps) better than babymetal -- though, overall babymetal may be more entertaining with their synchronized dance routines. Many of the Japanese metal groups use session musicians. Have said that, may I suggest some Black/Horror Metal from Italy?
Let's push the envelope with the legendary "The Black Opera: Symphoniae Mysteriorum in Laudem Tenebrarum" by Opera IX, specifically Act V: The Magic Temple. The Black Opera is the Opus Magnum of Opera IX with lead vocalist Cadaveria. Cadaveria has since gone solo, and a good representative music video is "Flowers in Fire" official video by Cadaveria. The Black Opera has no video, just audio -- but, riveting high energy heavy metal just the same with incredible drumming, bass, and guitar -- and, vocals by Cadaveria.
If Cadaveria is beautiful, but a little too intense, then let me suggest something more regional in the good old USA: “The In-Between,” by the metal group In This Moment from the album 'Mother (Jan 22, 2020). This track is very high energy metal -- would love to get the Chase Cameson Reaction.

As for other Nemophila songs, you might want to check out Raitei, Sorai, Oiran, Adabana, their cover of Kurenai (X-Japan), Revive, the list just goes on and on .... And why not google what the members have been up to in the past. The likes of Hazuki, Saki, Tamu, Haraguchi have all been involved in other crazy good bands. As you probably have found out by now, Japan is a musical gold mine waiting to be explored and I am all ears ;)

I found them about a year ago by searching for Babymetal covers and there they were covering Megitsune! @@iDEATH my pleasure :) Their "Kamikakushi" album is amazing! Unfortunately they are not very active these days and most of the band broke off. The core is still there though and released a couple of songs over the last 2 years or so. Yu still on vocals and Tatsuya (bass and vocals) still doing all the writing and studio-work (he's a professional producer now).
@@NewAeonWarlord Yeah, I saw how lean their UA-cam page is. Damn shame, but I'll take what I can get. At least they did get some new stuff out after that long break, and I hope that means there's more in the works.
@@iDEATH totally agree! Tatsuya and Yu recently gave an interview with a reaction youtuber which was cool. the new stuff is awesome, too but it seems Tatsuya just is a very busy man now producing for other bands so less time for making music himself.
